Chapter 55

Chapter 55

Two weeks later, Mrs. Cole was tried in court and found guilty of the charges against her.

She had been having an affair with Mr. Gideon. It all started as a plan to take Mr. Cole’s money and run.
But Mr. Cole found out and threatened to get them arrested.

She staged some girls to be with her husband at the club. When the place caught fire, Mr. Cole was murdered by his wife after she walked in and found him with the girls. She strangled him until he couldn’t breathe anymore. Confused about what to do next, she took his body to Gideon’s place.

He refused to be involved in the murder and claimed it wasn’t part of the plan.
But Mrs. Cole insisted that the deed was done and they needed to cover it up.

Gideon panicked, pretended to help, and tried calling the cops behind her back.

Mrs. Cole found out, picked up a knife, and stabbed him in the chest. In the process, her ring fell off.

She quickly removed any trace of her presence and took her husband’s body down to the bridge, where she tied him.

“The court finds you guilty and sentences you to be hanged to death,” the court finally ruled.

“Well.” Ariel walked up to Micheal with two cups of coffee as he stepped out of Mrs. Jones’ office.

She was already sipping one, and she offered the other to Micheal.

Micheal narrowed his gaze at her with a playful smirk tugging at the corner of his lips. He took the coffee and drank from it.

“You know you owe me dinner,” Ariel said.

Micheal pocketed one of his hands, the other holding his cup as he walked toward the door leading out of the station.

“I solved the case. Shouldn’t you at least be thanking me?” she said, following him.

Micheal turned to her, brows furrowed. “It was your job. Why should I thank you?” He shook his head and kept walking.

Ariel smacked him lightly on the back of his head. He turned to her, stunned.

She smacked her lips, rolled her eyes, and walked away.

“I bet you’d still be sulking over that case if it weren’t for me,” she muttered under her breath.

Micheal looked back at the station. Some cops who had paused to watch them quickly hurried away.

Micheal took the driver’s seat. Ariel sat in front next to him, looking completely unconcerned.

He glanced at her briefly. Her gaze was fixed ahead.

He shifted gears and drove onto the road, accelerating fast.

The car stopped in front of a house, and Micheal got down.

Ariel frowned. “Where are we?”

“My house,” Micheal replied.

He unlocked the door and turned, only to see Ariel still standing by the car.

“Are you planning on standing there forever?” he yelled.

Ariel shook her head, looking irritated.

“Is this your supposed bar or restaurant?” she asked.

But he was already inside.

“Welcome to my home,” Micheal announced dramatically.

She rolled her eyes and took the couch. Looking around, she nodded at how furnished it was. At least for a man, the place smelled nice and was small but neat.

“So, what would you like to drink?”
He brought her a glass of water. She grabbed it and gulped it down in one go.

“Oh, look at you,” he teased. “Someone seems thirsty.”

Ariel rolled her eyes again. “I don’t think I can eat anything, but I wouldn’t mind some bottles of drink.” She smiled, then frowned. “Not water.”

Micheal smirked. “The last time I let you get drunk, we ended up fighting a bunch of men.”

“They were already after me. It was inevitable. Besides, that had nothing to do with me being drunk. Stop whining and get me something to drink.”

Micheal laughed and returned with two bottles of wine and two glass cups.

Ariel picked up one bottle, staring at it with a wide smile.

“You’re even more exciting than you seem.”
It was the latest brand — one she had wanted to taste for a long time. Her best friend had once told her about it, but it was rare. She wondered how Micheal got it but didn’t bother asking.

She just opened it, filled her cup, and set the bottle down.

“Not even cheers?” Micheal asked, staring at her in awe as she drank the entire cup in one go.

Ariel slowly licked her lips. Micheal’s eyes caught the movement. He watched her for a moment before turning away when their eyes nearly met.

“You should drink slowly,” he said, clearing his throat. “And stop licking your lips.”

Ariel grabbed the bottle and went to sit next to him. She drank straight from it and only set it down when she’d had enough.

“You’re drunk, Ariel,” he muttered when she began to slur and moved closer to him.

“What? Can’t resist me, huh?” She grinned, cheeks flushed.

Micheal looked at her bright eyes staring at him. He sighed and looked away again.

She rested her head on his chest, picking the bottle back up to drink more.

“Fuck… you… fuck you… James.” She bit her lip, pointing at nothing in particular.

Micheal shook his head, sipping his wine slowly.

Ariel laughed, slapped her cheeks lightly, and puffed her lips before looking up at him.

Micheal got up, but she pulled him back down.

“Where do you think you’re going?” she snapped. “Always yelling that you’re my superior!” She smacked her lips.

Micheal stood again, ignoring her antics.

This time, she pulled him harder, and he fell over her.

“Ariel,” Micheal muttered. “You’re drunk.”

Ariel laughed sheepishly. He tried to stand up, but she held him close.

Ariel paused, staring at him — her face unreadable.

“Ariel, what are you—”

“Your face. Why would a rude person have such a handsome face?” She held his cheek.

Micheal tried to remove her hand. “Ariel, you’re drunk.”

She shook her head in denial.

“I really don’t want to do this,” he muttered to himself after a while.

But Ariel was still staring.

He slammed his lips against hers, and to his surprise, Ariel reciprocated. She wrapped her arms around his neck, deepening the kiss.

He lifted her from the chair, their lips still connected. Her legs wrapped around his waist as she pulled off her shirt, leaving her in her bra.

Micheal carried her into his room and laid her on the bed. He pulled off his shirt and loosened his belt.

Ariel quickly pulled down her trousers, leaving herself in only her panties. She looked at Micheal with a smile and beckoned him closer.
He came over her, gently removing her panties and then undoing her bra until she was bare.

“Ariel, are you sure about this?”

She smirked, wrapping her legs tighter around him. “I hope you can last.”

Micheal laughed, and they started to kiss again.
