Chapter 74 The Mafia Queen
Dakota's P.O.V.
"You look so beautiful," Sarah gushes. I'm wearing a very tight, black, floor-length, sleeveless sequined dress. It shows off my generous cleavage and has a slit on one side all the way up to my upper thigh. My knife is strapped to my other thigh. I carefully did my makeup, so my eyes have a smoky look to them. My hair is up in a twist, with just a few curls framing my face. In my four-inch black heels, I feel tall and glamorous.
"Thank you," I tell her, turning around to look at my back. There's a diamond-shaped cutout, and the tip almost reaches my butt. I'm showing a lot more skin than I usually do. This is basically my coming out as the head of the Kondrati family. Everyone knows I took over because these things don't stay quiet. I'm the only female in the area who is the head of one of the mafia families. I hope they don't think they can walk all over me because I'm not part of the boys' club. If they try, I'll show them exactly why Grandpa left me in charge.
"You'd better go. You don't want to be late." Sarah says, pulling me out of my bedroom. I grab my tiny pocketbook with my phone and run down the steps. I would drive myself, but I'm having two of our security men take me. I have to look the part; otherwise, they'll laugh me out of there.
"I'll tell you all about it when I get home. Love you." I hug Sarah.
"Love you too, sis." We walk outside, and the two men going with me look me over with their mouths open. That's right, boys, I can clean up when I want to. One of them opens the back door of the car for me. I look at Sarah, and she's giggling.
"Be careful. You do realize you're basically the Mafia Queen. That means your royalty," she yells at me. The Mafia Queen. I like the sound of that. I wonder if I can make the men at the benefit bow to me. When I glance into the rearview mirror, I see the man driving staring at me. If all the men have this reaction, maybe they will bow to me.
"Is it too much?" I ask him, pointing at my dress. Ahhh, how sweet. The big, muscled security guard's face turns red.
"No, ma'am, it's perfect," he replies. I smile, and he looks away. I need to remember their names. There are so many of them, and they're all big and muscled. Maybe I should number them one through fifty.
Thirty minutes later, we pull up at the lavish mansion being used for tonight's benefit. Galdino wouldn’t dare have all the families at his compound. When we reach the front, a man opens my door and helps me out.
"Welcome, Miss Kondrati," he says with a smile.
"Thank you." I use my family name for business purposes. I love my dad, but Dakota Holt doesn't have the same impact as Dakota Kondrati. I follow the other people up the wide stairs and notice many of them are watching me. Most seem much older than I am, other than the twenty-something's hanging onto the men old enough to be their grandfathers.
When I walk into the main room, everyone seems to freeze, staring behind me. I turn to see what they're looking at, but there's no one there. Wow, I sure know how to make an entrance. Uh, what should I do?
"I'm glad you could make it, Dakota." I look at the man walking toward me. He has thick black hair and dark brown eyes. I've never seen him before, but I know exactly who he is: Galdino.
