Chapter 68 Getting Ready
Two Weeks Later
Anushka's P.O.V.
I wake up and stretch. I can finally sleep with Jordan in our regular bed instead of the hospital bed. My chest still hurts, and it will for a while, but I can move on my own now. I roll over and look at Jordan. He's so handsome and looks so peaceful in his sleep. I can't imagine life without him. I met with my mom's attorney, who contacted me regarding her inheritance. It has grown so much that it’s in the billions. I had no need for the money, so I told him to let it sit there. Eventually, I'll have it put into a trust for Dakota and any future children we have.
Today is Dakota's birthday. I can't believe she's five, although sometimes it feels like she's a lot older than five. Dad and my brothers said they had everything ready for her special day. All we have to do is show up, but I'm a little nervous. This will be our first time going to the compound. We were supposed to go last weekend, but I wasn’t feeling well. Dad guarantees we'll be safe. I guess I've seen too many movies because all I can picture is there being a shootout. Dad and Santino had their discussion. I don't know what was said, but in the names of my mother and Dakota, they have agreed to a truce. Hopefully, it will last.
"Mommy, Daddy, do you know what today is?" Dakota asks as she runs into our room and jumps onto the bed. Jordan opens his eyes.
"Saturday, so that means we can sleep in, right?" he asks her while rolling onto his stomach. Dakota's mouth falls open while I try not to laugh.
"No, today is a special day." Jordan pretends to go back to sleep, and Dakota begins tickling him.
"I can't remember anything special happening today," I tell her. She stops tickling Jordan and turns to me with those little eyebrows raised.
"You're my mommy," she says in disbelief. Jordan slowly begins to turn over. Before Dakota realizes it, he grabs her sides and begins tickling her so hard that she falls back in a fit of giggles.
"How could we forget that today's your birthday?" he asks as she tries to squirm away. When he relents, she sighs and snuggles in between us.
"Good. When are we going to Grandpa Chrissy's?" she asks. She never told my dad and brothers that she could say their real names, and we weren't going to give her up.
"After breakfast. Do you think Noah will still be okay going?" I ask her. Dina and Noah have been up several times. I love them both, and Gavin is so good for them. Noah has really taken to him and has even called him Daddy. I swear, Gavin cried for an hour the first time he said it.
"He'll be okay. He knows everyone now." Dakota is amazing with him. We have slowly introduced my dad and brothers to him, and he has been okay as long as Dakota is with him. Dina is nervous about going, but not for the same reasons I am. She's scared it will be too much for Noah. However, her heart melted when my dad sat on the floor reading with him, and Noah called him Chrissy.
"Okay, we'd better get up so we can get ready." The words are barely out of my mouth, and Dakota jumps off the bed and runs out of the room. Courtney, Bobby, and the kids should be here soon. We have cut down on security somewhat, but we have Bobby and Gavin during the day, and Dad leaves one of his men here at night. Jordan wanted Bobby and Gavin to have a chance to bond with their new families like he got to do with Dakota and me.
"I love that little girl. I can't wait to give her some brothers and sisters once Mommy is up for more than just letting me eat." My face gets hot when Jordan slides his hand between my legs. Jordan has been taking care of me a lot, but hasn't let me do the same for him. He said he wants to wait until I'm completely healthy.
"I think I may be up for a ride very soon." I grope him through his shorts, and he moans.
"Now I need a cold shower." I laugh as he kisses me and gets out of bed. I laugh harder when I hear him swearing as he gets into the cold shower. We have been running our businesses from home over the last couple of weeks. Luckily, we both have good people working for us who can manage things during our extended absences.
I throw the covers off and get out of bed. Everyone is going to the compound with us. We have all become our own little family. Courtney, Bobby, and the kids will be moving into the building next week. We made sure to help them get a good deal on the rent so they aren't spending every penny we pay them on bills. We were going to help Dina, Gavin, and Noah get a bigger place higher up, but they refused for now. Dina said she didn't want to make too many changes for Noah at once. She contacted Noah's biological father and asked him to sign over his parental rights. She had the paperwork a day later. Bobby wants to adopt Courtney's kids, and Gavin wants to do the same with Noah.
I put on the purple dress Dakota picked for me to wear to her party. It fits me snugly. I wanted something looser, but she insisted that we wear matching dresses. Hers is purple, too. She's really into making everyone match lately. Jordan comes out of the bathroom just as I finish getting dressed.
"Oh, fuck. I'm going to have to take another cold shower." He walks over and wraps his arms around me.
"You better get ready, Daddy, before Dakota comes in here again." Jordan kisses me, and I moan when his tongue slides into my mouth.
"Fine, but later, I'm going to make you scream for getting me all worked up this morning." Is today Dakota's birthday or mine? It sounds like I'm getting the treat.
A few hours later, we're all piled into a large SUV and heading toward the compound. Dakota holds Noah's hand the entire way. He is the sweetest little boy. When we pull up to the compound, I groan. We're having a slight heatwave for early February, but it's still cool outside. However, I see a giant dragon breathing out a fake fire set up. Well, they meant what they said. They aren't holding back for Dakota's birthday.
