Chapter 55 Cora's Mistake
Courtney's P.O.V.
I have to admit that when we found out who Anushka's family was, I was ready to take the kids and leave. However, the Kondrati's aren't as bad as I first imagined. I know they've committed some horrendous crimes, but I'm not worried about them hurting any of us. They're getting rid of the people coming after Anushka and Jordan. I can't fault them for that. Bobby insisted on being the one to call Gregory because of his involvement with me.
Bobby has been my rock these last couple of days. Sarah and Tyler have been hanging on to him whenever someone new comes over. I believe they feel safe with him because of his size, and they love him. I can't blame them. I never allowed myself to dream of meeting another man I could fall in love with, but I have.
We've been sleeping in the same bed, but we haven't had sex yet. It felt weird being in someone else's house, given everything going on. We've done a lot of talking, touching, and kissing, but haven't gone all the way. However, I don't want to wait anymore.
Bobby is in Dakota's room with the kids, watching Bill work. I peek in, and I can't stop smiling. Bobby's sitting on the floor with all three kids on his lap. Dakota has been good for Tyler and Sarah. She's very protective of them and understands they aren't as outgoing as she is. I'm pretty sure Tyler has a crush on Dakota.
I'm a little nervous about going to the Kondrati compound for Dakota's birthday. However, with her demands of no guns and only family, I think it will be okay. It makes me happy that she considers us family. It's only been the three of us since Sarah was born. I'm so lost in thought I don't see Bobby coming toward me until he speaks.
"Is everything okay?" The kids are talking to Bill while he paints, but I still whisper, so they can't hear me.
"Tonight, I want more than just kissing and touching. I want everything." His eyes widen, and he looks at his watch.
"It's only five. Can we put the kids to bed early?" I smile and shake my head.
"I'm going to start dinner. Don't worry, I'll make it worth the wait." I wink and turn to walk toward the kitchen. Bobby grabs my arm and pulls me into the room where Tyler and Sarah sleep. He pushes me against the wall, kissing me passionately while putting his body flush against mine.
"You can't say something like that and walk away," he says before kissing me again and sliding his hands over my bottom.
"Aren't you on duty?" I ask as he kisses my neck.
"I'm on break. If we had more time, I'd take you into the bedroom now." He makes me feel like a schoolgirl, not an exhausted single mom.
"I'm working too. We'll go to bed as soon as the kids are in bed and Anushka is settled. If you don't let me cook dinner, it's going to take even longer." He pulls away from my neck and kisses my mouth again.
"Fine. It's been a while for me, so don't plan on getting much sleep tonight," Bobby says against my lips. I put my forehead against his and smile.
"You're an amazing man." I kiss his cheek and turn to leave the room. Dakota is standing with Sarah and Tyler right outside when I open the door. I feel my face getting hot while the three of them stare at us.
"Is Bobby going to be Tyler and Sarah's new daddy?" Dakota asks, raising her eyebrows. I've seen her do that to others, but I've never been on the receiving end. Why do I feel like my mom just caught me with a boy in my bedroom? She's four, not forty. How do I answer that question?
"Uh, maybe. We don't know." I stumble over my words, making Tyler and Dakota laugh. Sarah does, too, because she's copying them.
"Are we going to have chocolate cake with dinner again? It was so yummy," Dakota asks, licking her lips. Thank goodness she's acting like a kid again.
"Yep, we have plenty left over." Bobby chuckles lightly behind me as we all head toward the kitchen.
I really like working for Anushka and Jordan, even though it's only been a few days. I've enjoyed cooking the most. I've been able to cook things I never had the time for at home. I volunteered to cook when Jordan had the groceries delivered and didn't have a clue what to do with them. As I start dinner, Bobby is on my mind. I can't wait until tonight.

Cora's P.O.V.
I've been trying to reach that idiot all day, and he hasn't answered any of my calls. What good is it to have a connection to the mob if you can't reach them? Well, this time, I'll leave a message that will get his attention.
"Trystan, it's Cora. I need you to call me back as soon as possible. I found out that the Kondrati's have another family member who doesn't live at the compound. I know exactly where she is and how you can get to her. Call me back, or I'll give this information to someone who wants it." I hang up and smile. That should get his attention.
An hour later, there's a knock on my door. I don't check to see who it is because I assume it's Trystan coming to get the information in person. That's my mistake. When I open the door, a cloth bag is immediately put over my head. I try to scream, but I don't get the chance when something hard hits me. Everything goes black as I begin to fall, and someone lifts me. The worst thing is, I don't know who this is or where they’re taking me.
