Chapter 47 Victor
Anushka's P.O.V.
"Dinner's ready," Courtney announces. Jordan pushes me into the dining room, and everyone takes their seats. Tyler and Sarah hang on to Bobby while Dakota acts like the hostess. I like that I know the truth about who my dad is and that I have brothers. However, it concerns me that Dakota is inadvertently being placed within a family of crime.
"Uncle Zakky, after we eat, do you want to see my room? It's not done yet, but it's really neat." Zakhar smiles at Dakota. My little girl can win over even the hardest of hearts, but there are some people I wish would stay away. I don't want people to find out who our family is because it could put targets on our backs. Courtney begins serving bowls of salad, lasagna, and garlic bread.
"I would love to. How are you feeling, Anushka? Dad told us what happened." I finish chewing a bite of salad before I answer.
"To be honest, I'm doing pretty well. The doctor left right before you came, and he said I'm doing better than expected." Zakhar looks like me, with the same blonde hair and blue eyes. I always thought I looked like my mom, but now I see similarities between my brothers and dad.
"The bad guy who hurt Mommy is all gone. I had to call the police two times because of bad guys," Dakota says as she takes a drink of milk. Zakhar looks at me in confusion, so I quickly explain everything that happened on the island and since we've been home.
"Now you see why I hired all the extra security. It seems like everything is hitting us from all sides at once," Jordan explains.
"Are you sure you wouldn't feel safer staying with us at the compound until all this is over? Everyone can come, even your security. We have plenty of room," Christov says. Before I can answer, Dakota does.
"We are staying here. I told you we're not going anywhere that has guns. My mommy was hurt with a gun. Does your house have guns?" She raises her eyebrows at him. She's getting really good at that. Christov looks at his food while Zakhar and Kozar chuckle lightly.
"Isn't it okay if the men who are protecting you have guns?" He challenges her. Dakota raises her hand and shakes her head.
"Nope. When I'm a boss, if someone tries to hurt me, I will fight them without a gun." She jumps out of her chair to punch and kick the air. "See, you don't have to use guns if you're strong."
"Well, Dad, she has you there," Kozar says while we all laugh. I'm still concerned, though. Am I making a mistake by exposing her to this part of our family?

Victor's P.O.V.
After Dad's announcement, I went to my bedroom. I honestly don't care one way or another if we have a sister. Even if she did want part of the inheritance, it wouldn't matter to me. Having our name pretty much gives us whatever we want. I know Yegor probably feels the same as I do. Kozar will most likely want to meet her. Zakhar, I'm not sure. Sometimes he acts like a selfish jerk, but I know a part of him doesn't like some things we do. Yurkov is the one she needs to watch out for. If it weren't for Dad, I think he would have already had all of us killed so he could take over.
This life isn't for the weak. Every day, we have someone wanting to kill us or wanting to take us down. It's hard to stay under the radar and ensure that the clean businesses outdo the not-so-clean ones. However, it's the illegal ones that make us the most money. I oversee the gambling part of our business. We have underground locations where people can meet in person to play poker. We also loan money to those interested in sports betting and horse racing. When people don't pay us back, we send an enforcer to give them a warning.
Like my brothers, I seem to be destined to be a bachelor. I think most of my brothers are like me and don't want to get close to anyone, only for them to be used against us. We’re in this family by birth, but something about bringing innocent people in feels wrong. I wonder how Anushka feels finding out she's part of this family. I wouldn't be surprised if she didn't want anything to do with us. I pull my phone out of my pocket when it rings.
"Yeah," I answer.
"We have a man here who wants to speak with you. He says he has a proposition but will only talk to you about it." Ivan, one of my enforcers, says.
"Where is he?" This man has a lot of nerve trying to proposition one of us. I'm intrigued enough to want to hear what he has to say.
"He's at the gate," Ivan replies.
"Okay, bring him to my office. Have two men escort him in case he tries something." I disconnect and go down the hallway to my office. A few minutes later, two of my men walk in with a man I don't recognize.
"What do you want to talk about?" I ask, leaning back in my chair. The prick takes a seat without me telling him to. I already don't like him.
"I know you manage the money for your family, and I have a way to get you more." I don't say anything. I just stare at him.
"I'm aware that you just discovered you have a sister. I'm sure you don't want to share what you've worked so hard for all your life. So you help me get to her, and I will get rid of her and her daughter. As her only kin, your family will get all her money." I can't believe the nerve of this man. Does he think we have no souls and don't care for anyone? I keep my face void of emotion.
"What's your name?" He sits back and smiles.
"Cyrus. I knew you were the right one to come to. I was already paid for her, so I just need help getting to her." Oh, he's not too bright. If I had to guess, he hasn't been in this business long. I look at my two men, and they walk toward us.
"Let's see what we can do about that. Take him to the negotiation room." Cyrus smiles and stands. When they're gone, I pull out my phone to call my dad. I may not care if I have a sister, but no one hurts my family.
"Hello?" Dad answers.
"I believe Anushka's hitman just showed up and tried to make a deal with me to hand her over. I had him taken to the negotiation room." I tell him as I stand.
"Excellent. Go ahead and negotiate, and when I get home, I'll finish the transaction," he replies.
"Will do." I disconnect and pull out brass knuckles from my desk. It's been a while since I've put my hands on someone. That's why I have enforcers. This man is a special case. He's threatening my sister and niece. I haven't met either, but they're still family.
