Chapter 45 Friends
Anushka's P.O.V.
I can't believe that Kozar is my half-brother. Everyone is looking at us in confusion.
"How exactly do you two know each other?" Jordan asks.
"We went to the same college. He was a year ahead of me and my mentor for two years. We lost contact when he graduated, and I started seeing Harrison." I don't even want to say that bastard's name.
"You guys didn't date, did you?" Christov asks, joining us in the living room. Kozar and I laugh.
"No, we were just really good friends," Kozar replies. I always wondered what happened to him. After his graduation, it was like he fell off the face of the earth.
"Can Tyler and Sarah come out now?" Dakota asks.
"Yes. You can get them." I tell her. She runs to her room and returns with Courtney and the two kids. Dakota is holding their hands.
"This is Mommy's nurse, Courtney, and my friends Tyler and Sarah. This is Grandpa Chrissy and Uncle Kozy." She introduces.
"It's nice to meet you both. I'm going to start cooking dinner. Does anyone have any food allergies I should know about?" Courtney asks. She's doing well, considering who our guests are. Although I never knew Kozar was part of the Russian mob.
"No, we don't have any allergies. Thank you." Kozar answers. When she walks away, he turns to me. "What kind of nurse cooks for you, too?"
"A special one," I reply. No need to tell them about Gregory wanting her to kill me.
"Do you want to see my room? It's the best room ever." Dakota asks Kozar and Christov. They both stand up immediately.
"Yes," Christov says as they follow her.
"So you knew one of your brothers all along. What are the chances the rest of them will be this easygoing?" Jordan asks, kissing my head. Bobby picks up Sarah and sits on the couch with her and Tyler. Bill left a little while ago. I was surprised that Christov wanted to come back so soon.
"We can always hope. I'll ask Kozar when Christov isn't around. I think he'll be honest with us." I look toward the hallway, and they're all coming back out.
"That room is incredible. I can't wait to see it when it's done." Kozar says. Dakota beams up at him.
"Will you come and see us again?" She asks him.
"I live in the building right next door, so I can come over whenever you want." He and Christov sit down.
"You live next door?" I ask him.
"Yeah. I couldn't believe it when Dad pulled up here. Have you lived here long?" Kozar asks.
"This is Jordan's place. Dakota and I just moved in about a week ago." I quickly explained what happened while we were on vacation and some of what's happened since we've been back.
"The gunshots I heard several days ago were when you got shot?" Kozar asks in disbelief.
"Yes. That's why we increased our security and why I came home from the hospital early. There are too many people coming after us at the moment. I know why Stewart was, although I don't understand why he cared so much about me not finding out who my real father was." I look at Christov, and he glances at the three kids. I find it sweet that he's careful with what he says.
"I'm sure he knew what would happen when I found out and what would happen to him once you told me how you and your mom were treated." Whatever was done to Stewart was well deserved.
"Are you married now?" I ask Kozar, trying to change the subject.
"No. You know how I am around women or anyone, for that matter. I prefer books rather than going out. Only one of my brothers is married. His wife and son aren't living in New York. They're staying in Delaware." I'm sure there's more to that story, but I don't know if I want to know what it is. I glance into the kitchen. Whatever Courtney is cooking smells delicious.
"I just got a text that Dr. Martinez is on his way up," Jordan says.
"Good. Maybe he'll say I can have solid food because I'm eating whatever she's cooking in there." I reply. Courtney turns to me and smiles.
"I'm sure he'll be fine with it," she says as the front door opens. Dr. Martinez and the man assigned to him walk in. He looks around the room but doesn't say anything.
"Hi, Anushka. How are you feeling today?" He hands Courtney the IV fluids and comes over to me.
"I'm doing well. Can I eat solid food now?" I ask as my stomach growls.
"Let me assess you first, but I think it will be okay." Jordan stands and pushes me toward the bedroom. Courtney washes her hands and follows us.
"We'll be right back," I tell Kozar and Christov. When we get to the bedroom, Jordan lifts me and lays me on the hospital bed even though I can get on it with just a little help. Tomorrow, I think it's time for Jordan and I to check in with our companies. We're both still supposed to be on vacation, but with everything going on, we don't need any more surprises.

I went to get something to eat and then returned to Jordan's building. A few minutes later, I see Christov show up with one of his sons. The shit is about to hit the fan. There is no reason for him to go there other than to see Anushka. I tried to call Stewart, but there was no answer. I text him, and still no response.
I don't know what to do. I don't want to be on Christov's radar, but I was also looking forward to killing Anushka. I love the kill, and I had plans for her. Now that Christov is with her, I have to change my plans. I drive away and head home. I'm not done. I'm just on hold for now. I'll get Anushka and maybe her daughter, just because of the delay. A mother-and-daughter murder sounds good to me.
