Chapter 263 Gone
Dakota's P.O.V.
I hear Valentina scream, and my heart drops. No. Please don't let Enzo and Addy be hurt or worse. I want to see what's going on, but I can't leave Arkadi. I'm scared to move my hand where I'm putting pressure near the knife, or he may bleed to death. I hear the sirens as his breathing worsens.
"Hold on, Arkadi. You are not going to die like this. Please hold on," I beg him as tears stream down my cheeks. He's unconscious, but he's alive. Sarah and Ari are at my side, and we look up when Galdino runs into the guest house.
"Raul took Enzo and Addy. How the hell did he get out of here with all the security we have?" Galdino asks as Xavier brings the EMTs and police into the house. I move so the EMTs can take over. They rush Arkadi out of the house as soon as they have him on the gurney and tell us what hospital they're taking him to.
"What happened here?" One of the officers asks.
"Arkadi's chef, Raul, stabbed him and kidnapped two children who are staying here. Come with me, and I will give you all of Raul's information and pictures of Enzo and Addison." The officers follow me out of the guest house with everyone else. I take them to my office and sigh with relief when I see Noah and Kylie are still there. I have to tell Sam what's going on before someone else does. I trust Noah to only show the police what they need to do their job. He won't let them take the opportunity to find dirt on our family.
"Noah, please give them everything you have on Raul. I need to tell Sam he took Addy." I turn to the officers. "We will cooperate with whatever you need, but right now I need to go to the hospital. You'll want to look in Enzo's room, too. That's where the kids were taken from."
"Thank you, Miss Kondrati. We will let you know as soon as we have any information to share. Once you get settled, we'll need official statements from everyone." I never told the officers my name, but I'm not surprised they know who I am. Most of the police in the area know me because they want to destroy my family. I nod at the officers as Ari, Galdino, and I leave the office. We go downstairs to Sam's room, and I knock on the door.
"Come in," Sam says. I open the door, and she's sitting at the desk. She looks up at us with worry. "Is everything okay? I heard someone scream."
"Raul kidnapped Addy and Enzo after trying to kill Arkadi." Sam looks frozen at first, and then she screams.
"No, no, no. How did this happen? Why did he take my baby?" She begins shaking, and I lean over to hug her. I look toward the door as Valentina walks in, crying. She comes over to hug both Sam and me. This is the second time Enzo has been taken within a couple of weeks.
"I'm so sorry, but I promise we will get them back. The police are here now, and we are giving them everything we have about Raul and the kids. I am not counting on them to find them, though. I will find them, and Raul will be killed. I want you both to stay here, because the police will have questions for you about Addy and Enzo. I told them I'm going to the hospital, and I will eventually, but right now my time will be better spent looking for the kids." Valentina sits in the desk chair beside Sam in her wheelchair and takes her hand.
"I trust you. If you hadn't brought us here last night, we would have been killed. Please bring them back," Sam says.
"When you get that rotten piece of shit here, I want my turn with him." Valentina can be scary when she's angry.
"You will have all the time you need with him." We leave the two women, and I hesitate before walking to the front door. I turn around and go to Russell's room, where one of Galdino's men is standing outside beside the door. I knock before going into his room. Russell is pacing and looks at me anxiously when we walk in.
"What's going on? I heard people screaming and sirens." I quickly tell him what happened, and he sits on his bed as though his legs can't hold him up.
"How are you going to find them?" he asks. I still don't trust him, but I know he wants his granddaughter back.
"Will you help us?" Galdino and Ari look just as surprised as Russell.
"You want my help? I thought you were going to kill me." He stands, and I sigh.
"If you help us find Raul and get the kids back, I may let you live. However, if you betray me, I won't hesitate to gut you like a damn pig. No one knows you're working with us, so you can sneak around all the places we can't get into without causing suspicion if we don't find them right away. We believe that Raul is possibly Galdino's brother, and he thinks he should be the rightful head of the Buccheri family," I explain.
"I will help you, and you can trust me. I'll prove it to you. Let's get the kids back." We walk outside and get into an SUV where Xavier, Benny, and Sarah are already waiting for us.
