Chapter 235 The News
Dakota's P.O.V.
"Galdino, you'd better have something good planned to make it up to Valentina," I say. He hasn't spoken since he got home.
"I will make it up to her in a minute, but first, I need you to go up there and tell her that someone found my body. The listening device is still in our bedroom, and I need them to hear this." I shake my head as I walk toward him.
"No, I will not do that to her. Do you know how it will make her feel to know that none of this was real? She will never trust you again." Galdino looks down, and I feel a little bad, but I'm telling him the truth.
"I wish you had told me the truth from the beginning. I can be a very convincing actress." We all turn, and Valentina is standing behind us with her arms crossed.
"I swear Ari and I had no idea until we came down here to get Benny," I say as I hug her.
"I know. I think that's what scares me the most about you, Dakota. Even seeing that video, you stayed calm and level-headed while Ari and I were a mess. Let's go upstairs to put on a show, and then I would like to speak to you, Ari, and Galdino alone." She looks pissed, and I realize she has barely looked at Galdino.
"Whatever you want. If you want me to kick his ass a little to make the body look a little beat up, I will. He deserves nothing less." I tell her as I glance back at Galdino. I have to give it to him; he looks scared shitless about what Valentina wants to talk to us about. I don't think she's going to leave him. It would take more than this to make her stop loving him, but I'll let him sweat a little.
"I may take you up on that later." She winks at me, and I try not to laugh. She and I walk up to her and Galdino's bedroom. She goes in and shuts the door, and a minute later, I burst through the door.
"Valentina, I'm so sorry. Someone found Galdino's body." I pretend to cry, and she screams as she drops to her knees.
"NOOOOO! Who would do this to him?" She sobs into her hands, and I'm impressed. She is a good actress.
"Let's go downstairs. I promise we will find who did this." We leave the bedroom, and she lets out a few more whimpers. When we reach my office, Galdino and Ari are waiting for us. We go inside, and Valentina paces while Ari and I sit on a couch. Galdino looks like he's facing a firing squad.
"Do you love me?" Valentina glances at Galdino as she paces.
"I love you more than anything. I'm sorry I didn't tell you the truth, but I thought it was necessary to keep you safe." She holds up her hand to make him stop talking, and I swear I think he's going to cry.
"I don't want to hear that right now. I want to know if what we have means something to you because if not, Enzo and I will leave right now." Galdino walks over to her and takes her hands. I'm starting to wonder why she wants Ari and me here, but I'm not going to say anything. I want to see what's going to happen.
"Valentina, you are the only woman I have ever loved. Enzo is my son as much as Ari is. I want to spend the rest of my life with you." Valentina's face softens, and she looks at Ari and me.
"Good, because I have something I want to tell all of you. While you were out playing games, I found out something." She smiles, and I have a feeling I know what she's going to say.
"What did you find out?" Galdino asks.
"I'm pregnant and want Ari and Dakota to be our baby's godparents."
