Chapter 159 Jamie
Dakota's P.O.V.
"I'm sorry. Please don't blame Luka. It was my fault. I should have never gotten into his bed." I walk over to her and hug her as tears run down her cheeks.
"Rain, it's alright. You don't have to apologize. If you're comfortable with Luka, sleep in his bed with him. I just wanted to ask you a few questions about Jamie." She pulls away and looks up at me nervously. She's the one I can see who has the most pain. From what Luka said, her entire life has been nothing but pain.
"I didn't want you to think I was a prostitute or something. I promise I have never done that." She begins shaking, and Luka sits up on the side of the bed, grabs her hand, and pulls her over to sit next to him. I kneel in front of her as she continues to shake.
"I would never think that. You're safe here. Whatever happened out there will not happen here. No one will hurt you here." I take one of her hands as she cries. I see why Luka is so protective of her. She's so broken she's barely holding it together.
"How can you guys be so nice to me? I didn't do anything to deserve this." I sit on the bed on the other side of her so Luka and I can both hug her.
"You deserve to be loved and cared for. I'm so sorry that you haven't been. You're part of our family now." She takes a deep breath.
"What did you want to know about Jamie?" she asks.
"I found out tonight she's not who she's pretending to be. I overheard her on the phone bragging to someone that she was able to trick me. Can you tell me anything about her?" Rain looks at me.
"She was brought by Yegor yesterday, but she wasn't like everyone else who was brought there. Instead of screaming, crying, or trying to get away, she almost seemed happy to be there. I thought it was weird. Who would be happy to be sold? Yegor told the other men to leave her alone when he left, saying they could get a good price for her, which seemed to make Jamie even happier. I didn't talk to her because I didn't talk to anyone. I was surprised to see her acting scared when she came from the basement this morning." I hug Rain again.
"Thank you. I think someone set it up so she was taken by Yegor, so they had to know what he was up to. Then she played me so I would bring her home. She'll be dealt with tomorrow. I'm having some clothes delivered for you in the morning. Is it okay if I have them brought to Luka's room? I think it's good for you to stay in here with him if that's okay with you." Luka smiles at me.
"Luka probably doesn't want me to sleep with him every night," she says, looking down at her hands.
"Of course I do. I don't want you to be alone." She looks up at him, and he smooths the hair from her face.
"Okay, but let me know if you change your mind." I almost laugh at Luka's expression. She doesn't realize that he's already in love with her. There's no denying the look in his eyes.
"I'm going back to bed. If you guys need anything, you know where I am." I hug them both and run downstairs to make another sandwich. I start eating it as I run back up the stairs. When I reach our bedroom, Courtney is changing Ari's bandages. I finish my sandwich as I watch her. Not much grosses me out anymore.
"His burns are looking good. He's healing nicely," she says when she's done.
"Thanks, Aunt Courtney." I hug her before she leaves, and then I lie down next to Ari.
"How's your pain?" I ask, lying on my side so I can stroke his head.
"It's tolerable. Did you find out anything?" I tell him what Gabe and Rain said about Jamie. I also tell him about Luka and Rain. When I fall asleep, all I can think about is Jamie. I wonder who sent her here.
