Chapter 117 The Meeting
Dakota's P.O.V.
Noah went back to his room, and I'm stretched out on the reclining chair next to Ari's bed, but I can't sleep. Why would Victor try to kill us? It doesn't make sense. He's always been so good to me. All of my uncles have been good to me, but now I'm questioning everything. Was it all a lie? Were they really upset that Grandpa Chrissy left me in charge?
I look at my phone when I receive a text from Noah. He said everyone confirmed they would be here at eight. A few minutes later, my phone is ringing. It's Galdino.
"Hello."
"Hi, Dakota. I got your email about a meeting at the hospital in the morning, and I noticed your family is all going to be there. Are you sure you want me there?" he asks.
"I just discovered that my uncle Victor was the last one in the garage before we used the SUV. He carried a bag in and left without it. I believe he's the one who tried to kill us. If that's the case, I can't trust anyone," I tell him. The nurse comes in to check Ari's IV and change the bag. She doesn't look at me and leaves quickly.
"Okay, then I will be there. As I said, you're practically my daughter-in-law, and I will always have your back." I smile as I look at Ari.
"Thanks. I'll see you in the morning."
I slept all night restlessly because I kept dreaming about my family trying to kill me. When I woke up, my parents were in the waiting room. I thank them for coming and bringing me clothes. I don't believe they had anything to do with Victor, but I want to tell everyone at once.
After showering and changing clothes, I tell Ari what's going on. He wants to go to the meeting, too, so I have him pushed to the conference room we're using before anyone else joins us. Once I get him settled, I have Sarah, Noah, Xavier, and Galdino come in. When everyone else comes in, they look at Galdino and Ari, confused.
"I thought this was a family meeting. What are they doing here?" Uncle Yorkie asks suspiciously as he sits down. None of the uncles ever bring their wives to the meeting, but Dad always comes with Mom. I stand and look around at everyone.
"Thank you for coming. I asked Galdino and Ari to join us because this involves them, too. After all, Ari was almost killed in the explosion. As you all know, we have cameras all around the compound. I could not wrap my head around how someone could get past security and into the garage to plant the bomb. The cameras told me what I needed to know." I glance at Uncle Victor, but he shows no emotion.
"What did you find?" Mom asks worriedly.
"Uncle Victor, would you like to explain why you tried to kill me, Noah, Sarah, Ari, and Xavier?"
