Chapter 108 Match Maker
Dakota's P.O.V.
I wipe my tears away as I walk to Sarah's room. I thought Luka was going to die. I'm glad he's ready to get help. I know it won't be easy, but he'll have everyone's support. Galdino is still with Ari, who's been sleeping since he received pain medication. Now, it's time for me to do a little forced matchmaking. I knock on Sarah's door.
"Come in." I open the door and smile when I see she's alone. Tyler stopped by to see her, then went to their parents’ house after he arrived here with Luka.
"Okay, let's go," I tell her. She sits on the edge of her bed and puts on slipper socks.
"Where are we going?" she asks as she stands.
"To see Xavier. It's time you guys talked and stopped flirting around. He likes you, and you like him, so let's go." I take her hand, but she doesn't move.
"You want me to go to his room in a hospital gown looking like this? Are you kidding me right now?" She asks as she starts to sit down.
"He's in a gown too. You look beautiful as always. Trust me, in his eyes, you're a queen." Sarah's face turns pink.
"Do you honestly think it's okay to see him like this?" she asks, looking at herself in the mirror and checking the ties on the gown to make sure nothing is hanging out of the back.
"I think it's perfect. It will make him less self-conscious about being in one himself. He thinks you are too good for him. Let's show him that you're not." Sarah turns to look at me in surprise.
"He thinks I'm too good for him?" She asks, giving herself one final look in the mirror.
"That's what he said. He was too scared to ask you out because, to him, he's just security, and you're a goddess. His words, not mine." Her eyes light up, and I try not to laugh. They're going to be so cute together.
"Okay, let's go." We walk two doors down to Xavier's room. I knock and peek inside. He's in bed with his head raised, so he's sitting up, and he's alone.
"Can we come in?" I ask, not letting him see Sarah.
"Sure." I open the door and push Sarah inside.
"I'm so glad you're okay," he tells her. She walks over, takes a chair next to his bed, and turns it so they face each other.
"I'm fine. How are you?" she asks softly.
"I'm better now that you're here. Seeing you every day is the best part of my job." Sarah's face turns bright red. She reaches up and takes his hand. Come on, Sarah. I know you're not as shy as you're acting.
"Screw it." She gets out of her chair and puts her mouth on Xavier's. His eyes widen and then close as they kiss. I know Sarah hasn't kissed anyone, but watching her, you'd never know it. When she pulls away from him, I bite my lip so I won't giggle.
"I'm sorry. I've wanted to kiss you for a long time, and I got tired of waiting," she says. Xavier reaches up and strokes her cheek.
"I was too scared to say anything to you because I thought you would push me away." Okay, I need to go now. This is getting weird.
"All right, you two. My work here is done, so the rest is up to you. Oh, and just because you're both in gowns, that doesn't mean easy access. We're in a hospital, so try to control yourselves." I close the door and hear the cup Sarah threw at me hit it. I walk away laughing. I peek in on Noah, and he's sleeping, so I return to Ari. When I open the door, heaven greets my nose.
"What is that smell?" I ask as I walk into the room.
"You haven't eaten all day, so I ordered food," Galdino says. He points to my chair and puts a takeout container in front of me. I open it, and my mouth waters when I see the enormous piece of lasagna and garlic bread.
"I think I love you," I tell him as I take my first bite. It's delicious. Galdino chuckles as he eats his food. I'm going to have to work out more. Being around these Italians is going to make me fat.
