After nervy classes and a couple hours spent in the library studying she started off for West’s apartment. All she could think about was her mysterious sponsor and West. She had to tell him the truth. Before someone else did. He would be pissed and this would be a major test for their relationship. She didn’t want to lose him but she had to prepare herself for the possibility of losing him. It had to come from her and not the person intent on exposing everyone’s secret.

Grey tried calling Ela, but there was no answer. She just wanted a friend to talk to. She took a cab back to the apartment. She was sure she would find West in bed, shirtless and in a pair of boxers watching TV. She relished the sight. She wanted to be in his arms. Maybe tonight was her chance to tell him the truth.

She walked in and found a man spotting a police badge on the side of his belt, but no uniform He stood in the living room as West got off the phone.

“Grey.” West said, stunned for a second before he shook it off.

Did he not expect her to come home?

“What’s going on?” Grey asked.

He walked up to her as the police man walked out of the house. He placed his hands on her shoulders, but Grey shrugged out of his hold.

“Don’t do that! Why’s there a cop here.”

West grinded his teeth together. “Don’t worry I just have to go to the station.”

“Does it have something to do with Sky’s statement?”

“No. Sky doesn’t want to go to the police.”

Grey gasped, “Why the hell not?”

West ran a hand through his hair, “I have to go Grey. I’ll be back in a couple of hours.”

“You haven’t told me why you’re going.” She gripped the front of his shirt. The words, ‘what have you done?’ were on the tip of her tongue.

“I… I just have to give a DNA sample.” He said.

“You hadn’t given one yet? Why not?”

He pulled her aside and aimed for the door. “We can talk about this later babe.”

With that he walked out the door, leaving Grey to gawk at it. The police hadn’t found the father of the baby. They likely had tested everyone else’s DNA and discovered none were a match. Including Sky. West had to be the one. Her sponsor had to have known this would happen. Did he already know the results?

Ela ran to the room and closed the door. She dialed Ela’s number.

“Grey!” Ela said as soon as she answered. “Are you not coming back? Mia is killing me.”

“You know I can’t. She threw me out.”

“Ugh, she’ll get over it. She did do a lot worse. She thinks she’s the queen B again.”

“Ela… West’s gone to the police station. He hadn’t given a sample of his DNA yet. There’s only one reason he wouldn’t have done that.”

“Oh my gosh. I think you need to prepare yourself. West is the father of Harley’s baby.”

“He knew all along. He never said anything.”

“West is mysterious. I think he knows he made that baby. Did he kill Harley though?”

“Ela!” Grey’s blood went cold and her stomach turned upside down.

“It is a possibility. Oh my gosh I really think you should come home. It’s no secret West was pissed with Harley about the whole cheating on him incident.”

Grey clutched her stomach and moaned. It was as if someone jammed something in there and turned it around like a Ferris wheel. She gripped her stomach and her phone.

“Grey? I didn’t mean to scare to.”

“No.” She whimpered.

She darted from the bed to the bathroom. Her throat burned and her muscles reacted as she struggled to get to the toilet before she threw up all over the bathroom floor. She dropped her phone on the rug, leaving Ela talking to herself. She had to have emptied her stomach of the small lunch she had. When she was done puking her gusts out she rested beside the toilet. She wrapped her arm around her belly and took in heavy breaths.

“Grey?” Ela called.

“Yeah? Did you hear all that?”

“Unfortunately… did you eat something bad?”

“No, I think I’m just nervous.”

“You should really come to the dorm. Mia isn’t here. You don’t have to worry about her flipping.”

Grey let out a heavy sigh. She still felt like throwing up but there was nothing left to release.

“No. I’ll wait for West. We have to talk.”

“Good luck with that. Call me if you still feel sick.”

“Yeah.” It took all her strength to pull herself up from the floor. She collapsed on the bed. She didn’t have the strength to change into her pajamas. So much for the dinner plans they had. She fell into darkness when she blinked awake the sun was seeping into the room and the bed was cold and empty.

“West?” Her throat hurt when she spoke and her voice was horse.

She padded out of the room to grab a glass of water. She stumbled upon West in the kitchen, his eyes glued to his phone. He was in a hoodie he hadn’t left in.

“West, did you just get in?” She asked.

“Babe.” His brows burrowed. He climbed off his stool and pulled her close, but Grey was hesitant. “You look pale. You feeling okay?”

She shook her head. She felt weak. Her churning stomach was preventing her from eating anything.

“You need a hospital?”

“Stop West.” She shrugged out of his hold and staggered to the sink.

West was behind her afraid she would fall. He wrapped his strong arms around her waist.

“Tell me what’s wrong. Now Grey.” He said softly, but firmly.

“You didn’t tell me!” She exclaimed.

“I know. I thought I could handle it.”

“Tell me the truth West.” Her eyes watered, she couldn’t even look at him.

“Are you the baby’s father?” She asked.

He kissed her shoulder. “There’s a chance. She was my girlfriend Grey.”

She shut her eyes and let the tears fall. She felt more emotional than usual.

“I’m sorry.” He squeezed her tight from behind. She couldn’t bring herself to ask the next question on the tip of her tongue. If he had hurt Harley.
