Chapter Twenty-Six
“Everything okay Ela?” West asked.
Ela glanced at her phone a couple times before she spoke as if making sure the word she was going to utter were the same that were on her phone.
“Connor’s been in a car accident.” Ela said.
Grey hung on to West’s frame. She was safe for another day.
“What happened?” West asked.
Ela shook her head. “It’s just going around. Doesn’t say what happened. Just that it’s bad…”
“What? You mean… he won’t make it?” Grey asked.
“I have no idea. I just hope not.” Ela scurried back inside.
Grey turned to West. “Are you going to see him?”
“I won’t if you don’t want me to.”
“What? He’s your friend. I can’t stop you.”
He wrapped her in his arms and kissed her forehead again. “Sometimes. Sometimes, he’s my friend.”
“You should go check on him.” Grey whispered.
“I wanted to take you to the movies.” West said.
Grey smiled against his chest. “I’m dripping wet West.”
“I know. Then I wanted to take you home and make you more wet.”
“I should have known.” She punched him playfully.
“It’s all I think about these days.”
“I’ll tell you what. How about we go to the movies tomorrow. After you check on Connor.”
“How about we skip the hospital and the movie and go straight to bed or the shower I don’t mind.” He said close to her ear, his hands resting on her waist.
He was pretty convincing and Grey was just on the tip of acceptance, but she needed this night to think. She needed to come clean before someone did it for her. Connor’s lips trailed down her neck, drawing her in slowly.
“Raincheck babe.” Grey said, pulling away.
West dug his hands into his pocket and nodded, “Are you sure you’re not mad at me?”
“Of course not… I’m just tired.”
“Grey if Brandon did something—” he took a step toward her.
“No, West. Drop that please. I’m just really tired, I’ll see you tomorrow.”
Grey opened the door quickly and hurried inside before West could say anything else. She found Ela in the living room, glued to her phone. There was no sign of Mia in the house.
“How did you hear about Connor?” Grey asked.
“Someone sent a text.” Ela shrugged. “You looked pretty pale when I walked out. Do you really think I was going to tell West your secret?”
Grey’s eyes darted to Mia’s bedroom door.
“Relax she isn’t here. Probably running after Sky.”
Grey let out a shaky breath. Sooner or later she was going to have to come clean to Mia.
“No, I didn’t think you would. I know you’re not that type of person.”
Ela gave her a pressed smile and stood to go to her room. Grey guessed Ela was still pissed at her. She understood, she had lied and the girls had been nothing but good to her. She’d built so much in these past few months. It wasn’t just Ela she was scared of losing. She had West and Sky who she had a complicated relationship with and Mia and Porsha who Grey believed was just grieving differently. She had a job that was helping her mother. She didn’t want to lose it all. Even though she felt like she didn’t belong here most times. She knew she wanted to apart of the grand scheme of things.

West picked her up and six. After a day of trying to have a decent conversation with her over the phone he thought he would just pick Grey up and take her to the movies. He had a gut feeling something was wrong with his girlfriend. He grilled Sky about what Brandon did, but Sky wasn’t sure either.
Grey was quiet and reserved. She wasn’t like that. He didn’t want to get over his head yet. He didn’t know what he would do to Brandon because that was the only person he could think about to hurt. They’d been quiet the whole drive to the cinema. Her quietness made him quiet, causing his thoughts to speak louder.
“What movie did you pick?” Grey finally asked.
“I didn’t really pick. I thought we’d figure it out when we got here.”
She nodded and looked out the window again. He couldn’t take it anymore. He never thought he would miss the sound of her voice so much. He didn’t like the distant her. She didn’t make a move to get out of the car. The cinema was right in front of them, but neither of them could get out of the car and walk towards the building with huge blinding lights.
West covered her hand on her lap and squeezed it.
“Grey, I need you to tell what the hell is wrong.” He said through gritted teeth.
“Nothing really. I’m just not in the mood for a movie right now.”
West sighed, and leaned back in his chair. His hand still holding hers.
How could she tell him that the guilt of her lies were eating her up inside? It was even worse because he was so concerned about her. It was just the two of them in his car. Grey’s heart was racing and so was her mind. Maybe she could just spill her guts out to him. Tell him how much he means to her and hope for the best. He would be pissed, but she was prepared for that. She didn’t want to face his fury, but there was no way around it.
West pushed his chair back and in an instant grabbed Grey off her chair.
“What are you doing?” She asked.
She placed her legs either side of his thighs so she was straddling him. Grey placed her hands on his chest. She was looking down at his eyes. She smiled. She could not lose him. She wondered if she would ever get over the heart break.
“We have a problem.” West said softly.
“We do?” Her heart was racing so fast she thought it was going to leap out of her chest.
“Yeah, I like you too much Greyson Abbey.”
Grey swallowed. “I like you too much too Wesley Kiszinger.”
The corner of his mouth lifted. “Whatever affects you affects me.”
Grey caressed his cheek. “Huge workloads affect me very much.”
West laughed. “That’s my girl.”
“Okay, I’ll tell you what, let’s forget about everything. Let’s just…” she trailed looking at his zipper.
West smirked. He eyed her breasts and remembered how he was rudely interrupted by Connor the other day. He tugged on her shirt until her bra was exposed.
“I believe we stopped somewhere.” He said, toying with the black lace of her bra.
Grey’s hand wandered to the front of his jeans, placing her hand on his solid erection. West shut his eyes and moved his hand to unclip Grey’s bra. So much for the movie. Thank goodness he had tinted windows too.
Grey toyed with him through his jeans. The sheer size of him scared her, but she craved it too. She wanted to feel him insider her again. The cinema parking lot would have to do. West removed her bra and tossed it at the back seat. He brought her forward so he could suck on her nipples again. Grey moaned when he took a nipple between his teeth. Grey fumbled with him button and zipper. She needed to touch him. West barely let her touch him.
“I need you.” She moaned.
“I need you too.” He captured her lips as he massaged her breasts.
His phone rang and startled them both. Grey had only managed to get his zipper down.
“Fuck. I should have put it on silent.”
“Who is it?”
“Sky.”
“I guess you should…”
West growled, “He’s going to get it.”
Grey rested her head on his chest while he took the call.
“What the hell Sky?” He barked.
West stopped stroking Grey’s hair.
“What are you talking about? When did this happen?”
Grey looked up at West. What was it now?
“Fine. We’re on our way.” He ended the call.
“What?”
West sighed, “Lewis is in the hospital with Sky thinks he’s been poisoned .”
“What?” Grey gasped. “Oh my gosh, Ela…”
Ela and Lewis had a weird relationship, but Grey could bet her bed Ela was freaking out.
“Everyone’s at the hospital. Sky says he’s really bad.”
One last kiss and they got dressed. Leaving the cinema behind after giving it a show they raced to the hospital.
“What happened?” West asked his cousin.
