Chapter 44: New Beginnings

***~STAGE~***

***After pouring my heart out, and sharing information with the sheriff about what Paris and I had been up to over the past week, as well as my latest shocking discoveries, we both made our way back to Bloom's room. As soon as we got in, my mom tried to reprimand me for speaking to Grandma in that manner, but I stopped her.***

***"Don't make the mistake of thinking that I'm not angry at you, Mom," I said, my voice firm. "Eighteen years, and not once did you or Dad ever mention that you're a vampire, and that's the reason Grandma doesn't like you. So, don't you dare stand here and try to support Grandma, because if that's the case, then it's better if you leave as well."***

***This was the first time in eighteen years that I'd ever been angry at my mom, and she stopped in her tracks. She placed her hands on my chest, asking me to calm down, and promised to explain everything when we got home. She kissed my forehead slowly, a drop of tears running down her cheeks.***

***She turned to face Bloom, who was still lying in bed, and walked over to her. She offered her condolences for her loss and told her that both she and Chris would be going back home with us.***

***I quickly informed her that I'd told Sheriff Sarah about CHASC and what they were all about, so from now on, the sheriff would be fully involved in their meetings. My mom nodded, a look of understanding on her face.***

***As we prepared to leave, I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. The tension between my family members was palpable, and I knew that things would never be the same again. But I was determined to uncover the truth, no matter what it took.***

***With that resolve, we left the hospital, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead. The sun was setting, casting a golden glow over the town. It was a stark contrast to the darkness that had been lurking beneath the surface, but I was ready to shine a light on it all.***

***As we headed home, the weight of our conversation hung in the air like a challenge. I took a deep breath and informed the sheriff and both parents that Bloom was now a vampire, and that the three of us – Christopher, Paris, and I – would help her learn how to feed properly without hurting anyone.***

***My parents exchanged a skeptical glance, their faces etched with concern. But after a moment, they nodded in unison, their expressions softening. They looked at me with a mix of trust and trepidation, and I knew they were choosing to have faith in me.***

***Sheriff Sarah, who had been quietly observing our exchange, spoke up. "I trust your judgment, kiddo," she said, her voice firm. "You've shown remarkable maturity and responsibility in handling this situation so far. I'll support you and your friends in helping Bloom adjust to her new... condition."***

***With their trust and support, I felt a sense of determination wash over me. I was ready to face the challenges ahead, to learn and grow alongside Bloom, and to ensure that she didn't harm anyone – or herself.***

***As we pulled into our driveway, the house loomed before us, its windows like empty eyes staring back. But I knew that inside, there was a sense of possibility, of new beginnings. And I was ready to face them head-on, with my family by my side.***

***Stepping into the house, the familiar creak of the door and the soft glow of the living room lights enveloped us, offering a sense of comfort and normalcy. But I knew that things would never be the same again. The weight of our secrets, the revelation of my family's vampire heritage, and Bloom's new condition hung over us like a challenge.***

***My parents and Sheriff Sarah began to discuss the logistics of helping Bloom adjust to her new life as a vampire, while I excused myself to check on Bloom. I found her sanding by the window in the living room, her eyes fixed on horizon.***

***As I entered the room, Bloom's gaze shifted to me, and I noticed a soft smile on her face. But her expression quickly changed – a mix of concern and fear. And then I saw it – a tattoo of Bloom's name on her neck, just below her ear.***

***Bloom's eyes widened as she took in the tattoo, her brow furrowed in confusion. "When did I get a tattoo?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.***

***Paris's voice filled the room, as she made her way to the living room from the kitchen. "You didn't get a tattoo, Bloom," she said, her voice low and husky. "I gave it to you. It's for daylight protection, and it's called diei praesidium. This way, you can work under the sun without getting burned."***

***Bloom's eyes lit up with surprise, and she reached out to touch the tattoo, her fingers tracing the intricate design. "Thank you, Paris," she said, her voice filled with gratitude.***

***As we stood beside bloom at the window, basking in the warmth of our newfound understanding, I knew that we couldn't stay in this bubble forever. Sam would be back, and when she does, Bloom would need to be ready.***

***Bloom's expression turned determined, her eyes flashing with a fierce inner light. She knew that she needed to prepare herself for the confrontation that was to come. And I knew that I would stand by her side, no matter what.***

***As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting our living room in a warm orange glow, I felt a sense of resolve wash over me. We would face whatever challenges lay ahead, together, as a family. And we would emerge stronger, our bonds forged in the fire of adversity.***

***But for now, we just stand here, enjoying the quiet moment, the sense of possibility hanging in the air like a promise. I knew that no matter what the future held, we would face it together, as a team.***

***As the silence between us grew thicker, Paris stood up, her movements fluid and graceful. "I think it's time we started your training, Bloom," she said, her voice filled with a sense of purpose.***

***Bloom nodded, her eyes locked onto Paris's, and I could sense the determination building within her. She was ready to take control of her new life, to learn how to navigate the challenges that came with being a vampire.***

***And as we began our journey, I knew that we would face obstacles, that there would be times when we would stumble and fall. But I also knew that we would rise again, stronger and more resilient than before.***
