The Most Eligible Bachelor (2)

“Mr Easton!” A casual voice of a man rang as he walked closer to Reagan. “Thank you for squeezing out time amid your tight schedule to ensure this business dinner is a success!” The man spoke, standing in front of the most eye-catching figure in the hall.

Reagan’s well-proportioned physique was something one always could not miss in a crowd. His opulent demeanour, masculinity, powerful aura that compels one’s complete submission even without trying, and aloofness… all made him such an impressive being.

“There is no need for thanks, Mr Governor!” Reagan elegantly placed both hands in his pockets then continued, “As a businessman, such events cannot be avoided!” He uttered calmly as he looked down at the grey-haired man befall him because he was significantly taller. Apart from one of his bodyguards, Jack, who stands at 198cm, Reagan was the second tallest person in the hall at 190cm.

The man smiled and said, “You are right about that, Mr Easton! I hope our company’s collaboration will yield good fortunes!”

GLOVER ENTERPRISES was not far behind Reagan’s businesses. It was a successful company known all through the continent. And on top of that, William Glover was the state governor. So yes, the man was a well-respected figure in the country.

Reagan said nothing to regard that statement. Given how loaded he was, Reagan was in no desperation to earn more wealth. “Shall we proceed to why we are here?” He urged, not wanting to indulge himself in any unnecessary conversation.

Throughout the years, he had kept his interactions with any of his partners strictly business and left no room for any slip-up knowing that humans were perceptive and fast to make use of any mishaps. Still, it would seem that wasn’t enough to shield him from the ones on to him with ulterior motives.

“Of course, Mr Easton. Pardon my lack of quick professionalism, for I thought we were beyond that. Please,” the man stretched out his hand to usher Reagan towards the VVIP Booth, where a long table was set for the meeting to commence.

Getting to the exclusive quiet space, both men respectively took the seats drawn out by the hotel staff and the covered dishes piled up at the table were then served. And the clinking sounds of cutleries against the platter followed afterwards.

As both men ate, they simultaneously discussed their upcoming project, which was to set up NGOs around the globe—especially in remote countries or towns where people seek shelter and access to food. Also, to provide free education for adults and children, provide access to medications, fight for the weak, jobs and so on.

Reagan was a good philanthropist. He had been independently doing so for several years. Even before this collaboration with GLOVER’s ENTERPRISES, he had countless NGOs across America, Africa, and Europe. For this purpose: After deducting what was needed every year, i. e., for tax, employees’ salaries, company maintenance, etc., he ensured the rest of his company’s revenue was split in half for this purpose.

“My daughter seems to take quite a fancy to you, Mr Easton.” Governor Glover suddenly voiced right after they finalised their meeting. “She is smitten by you and wouldn’t stop commenting about your fierceness.” The man wiped his mouth with the napkin before adding, “I must admit I am envious of you, Mr Easton! I was regarded a playboy in my youth, but it would seem my stamina could never be compared to yours, and it is no wonder my baby girl wants no other man except you.” William cackled. “There seems to be more to you, Mr Easton!”

Reagan peered at the man with an unfathomable expression. He knew this topic was inevitable, and he blames his vindictive side for it. He never liked mixing pleasure with business. When he first met Jessica Glover over two years ago at one of his night’s clubs, he didn’t give a hoot about who she was, nor did he think he would end up partnering with her father. Then, apart from ensuring his people were in good condition, his life revolved around pleasures of the flesh. But all that changed for good when he found his other half, only for her to desert him later.

“Your daughter and I are just fooling around, no strings attached!” Reagan calmly elucidated. “She is aware it can’t get more than that, and I hope you wouldn’t expect more either!”

After saying that, Reagan stood up from his seat to leave since the meeting was finalised. “Thank you for dinner, Mr Governor! If there is nothing else, I shall take my leave now!” Reagan uttered collectedly before adding, “We will see us at our next meeting. Until then, please stay healthy!”

Like always, Reagan walked out of the VVIP Booth without giving the man a chance to utter any word, and his bodyguards that were waiting outside the Booth instantly took position by walking in front and behind him to secure a swift exit from the stringers.

Upon reaching outside, Reagan headed for the Bentley instead of the Maybach he came in on. Seeing that, Angelo quickly exited the car he was ready to drive and hastily moved to the Bentley. He was Reagan’s head of warriors and had been his driver for years; still, he could never figure the man out. Angelo thought their king was a mystery one could never comprehend.

“Where to, Your Majesty?” Angelo inquired as he started the engine.

“To the estate in Lake-nest! Take the A2 route!” Reagan announced through the mind-link for his bodyguards to also hear. His left hand was balled into fists that one would assume he was pissed. However, that was not the case.

About thirty minutes later, three cars were seen approaching the narrow route with a cliff on the side which they had to pass through as the A2 route led to the desolated path of the city and added more minutes to the usually they normally would reach their destination.

Just as they reached the cliff, “Get out of the car!” Reagan ordered the bodyguards riding the Maybach through the mind-link. Without asking questions, they did as they were told.

Noting that his warriors were out and had a safe distance from the car, Reagan released the fists he had been holding all through, and boom, the car instantly went in flames.

Shock was evident on everyone’s faces—particularly on that of the ones that just escaped death.

Someone had just attempted to assassinate their king, and they almost lost their lives instead.

“Have another one ready by tomorrow!” Reagan said casually, knowing full well who it was that dared to make such a poor devised move. The thought of how he would have met his end should he have been mere human rose anger in him.

He had sensed something was amiss with his car the jiff he exited the hotel’s lobby thanks to his extraordinary abilities. Then again, it wasn’t the first time such an attempt was made on his life…it was always inconceivably low-witted, Reagan deduced.

Like how the council saw him as a threat and continuously sought to outwit him, the humans were no different. Reagan knew they were competitive and would eliminate anyone they could not use to their benefit.

In the business world, the strongest always was the last one standing. It did not matter if one kept a low profile or not because the world was full of people with greed and inferior complexed.

The drive to Reagan’s estate took another forty-five minutes, given that it was in a remote area away from the heart of the city where he often spent most of his weekends. The estate covered an area of one hundred and seventy miles and was mainly covered with woods, something Reagan loves as it gives him the feeling of being back home and provides him with the space to stretch his paws when needed.

The area was quiet and peaceful, unlike in the city’s centre, and the air was much better. Reagan loved to spend his time at the lake-nest estate whenever he did not need to be somewhere urgently.
