Chapter 89 His Sweetheart’s Quiet Anger
Vihan falls silent. His throat closes up, and no words come. Trying to lighten the suffocating atmosphere, Shorya puts his hand dramatically over his chest and says in an exaggerated tone, “Love doesn’t happen by choice, brother… It just happens. Straight to the heart.”
Rohit rolls his eyes, unimpressed. “For such pathetic acting, you’ll never win an award. Got it?”
But Shorya just smirks, unfazed. “I still don’t get it. Why are all of you sitting here with such long faces? One look at you guys, and even Karan would start crying.”
Vihan, his voice heavy, mutters, “So what do you expect us to do? Dance?”
Shorya waves his hand with mock horror. “No, no, please don’t even imagine that. You dancing would be a disaster. I can’t even picture it.”
Vihan shoots him a glare sharp enough to cut, but Shorya bursts out laughing anyway. His laughter echoes in the room, briefly softening the weight in the air.
Just then, the door creaks open. I walk in quietly. There is hesitation in my eyes, but I steady my voice as I say, “Dinner is ready. Please… come and eat.”
Shorya, who has been laughing just a moment ago, quickly looks away from me. His expression turns guarded, almost as if he is hiding something in his heart.
Vihan turns toward me and says gently, “Please… call Karan too. We’ll all have dinner together.”
My voice is low, almost breaking, as I reply, “He refused. Karan bhai said he’ll have dinner in his room. So… I sent it there.”
Vihan’s face darkens with thought. After a long silence, he simply murmurs, “Alright… we’ll go.”
I give a small nod and quietly leave. Samar, meanwhile, still sits rigid on the sofa, eyes closed, face carved in stone. When the others stand to leave, Shorya glances back and asks, “You’re not coming for dinner?”
Without opening his eyes, Samar’s cold voice replies, “Tell her… to bring my dinner to the room.”
And with that, he shuts himself back into silence.
The three—Vihan, Rohit, and Shorya—leave for the dining area. There, they find me waiting. Vihan steps forward and says softly, “Samar wants his dinner in the room.” I lower my head and nod quietly.
Samar sits by the bed, his laptop open on the table, completely lost in work. His eyes are glued to the screen, as if he has cut himself off from the rest of the world. Just then, the door creaks open gently, and I walk in. My steps are soft and careful, as though I don’t want to disturb him. In my hands, I carry a dinner tray.
Without saying a word, I quietly place the plate on the table and turn to leave. I think he is probably still angry, and it would be better if I avoid him. But the moment I take a step forward, Samar suddenly reaches out and grabs my hand.
I freeze in shock, not even realizing what has happened, when in the very next second, Samar pulls me forcefully. I stumble straight into his lap.
My entire body goes stiff, my breath catches in my throat, and my heartbeat races wildly. I immediately try to get up, but Samar’s arm wraps firmly around my waist, holding me in place. His grip is so strong that I can’t move an inch.
He lowers his forehead to mine, his voice soft but heavy with regret as he whispers, “Sorry… I was lost in my thoughts that time. I was angry… I didn’t even realize I took it out on you.”
For a moment, I look into his eyes. There is genuine remorse written all over his face. But deep inside me, the sting of his harsh words still lingers. Gathering my strength, I push him away and get up from his lap.
Samar gives a faint smile and calls out gently, “Sweetheart?”
But my face hardens with anger. In a sharp voice, I say, “I don’t want to talk to you right now.”
Samar’s expression tightens. Trying to control his emotions, he says, “I’m apologizing—why are you stretching this matter unnecessarily?”
My anger bursts out. “Oh, I’m stretching it? First you vent your anger on me, then you just say sorry and expect everything to be normal? No, Samar! That’s not how it works!”
Samar runs a hand through his hair, trying to suppress his frustration, but his voice still carries heat. “Don’t be so unreasonable…”
My eyes fill with unshed tears, but my tone remains stubborn. “I don’t want to talk to you.”
Samar tries again, softly, “Listen…”
But this time, my anger crosses all limits. I raise my finger at him and snap, “Get out of my room. Right now!”
Samar freezes. He looks at me, startled, as if he can’t believe what I have just said. With a faint, almost ironic smile, he murmurs, “This… is my room.”
I cut him off, my voice trembling yet firm, “It was your room. Now it’s mine. Please… leave.”
For a few seconds, Samar just stares at me. There is no anger in his eyes anymore, no pain—only a heavy silence. Finally, without a word, he stands up, shuts his laptop, and quietly walks toward the door.
Meanwhile, Neeti is sitting comfortably on the bed. In her hands is a thick book, and she is completely absorbed in its pages. There is a calm sparkle in her eyes, as though all the peace in the world is hidden in the words she is reading.
But that peace shatters in an instant. The door flings open with a loud thud, and Shorya storms inside. His face is flushed red; anger practically burns in his eyes. His steps are sharp, and his voice cracks like thunder, “Neeti! You’ve misplaced my file! Where am I supposed to look for it now?!”
Neeti closes the book, irritation flashing across her face. Her voice rises, filled with anger, “Why are you shouting? You could talk normally too, you know.”
But Shorya only grows louder. His hand flings in frustration as he barks back, “That file was important very important! Do you even understand what it meant? No… how would you?”
Those words sting like knives. Neeti’s eyes narrow, and she glares straight at him. “What are you trying to say? That I don’t understand anything? Are you calling me stupid?”
Shorya’s temper crosses its limit now. The poison slips off his tongue without thought, “Not just stupid you’re a fool! A complete duffer! You can’t even remember where you keep your own things. Always lost in your own little world. No one can expect anything from you!”
