Chapter 34

As Alyssa slowly regained consciousness and found herself in an unfamiliar room, she couldn’t help but wonder where she was and why she was there. Confusion and disorientation filled her mind as she tried to make sense of her surroundings, trying to piece together the events that led her to this moment.

Just then, the door creaked open and Luther entered the room, causing memories to flood back into Alyssa’s consciousness. She recalled what had happened before she had blacked out and she felt a sense of unease. She had felt that aching pain twice in one evening and she had a feeling that it was just a small warning for what was about to come. She glanced up hazily at Luther who rushed towards her, seeing that she was awake.

“Darling! Are you okay now?” Luis asked, concern evident in his voice as he sat beside Alyssa on the bed.

“I am, but what about the party and the guests? I hope I didn’t ruin anything,” Alyssa inquired, her worry evident in her voice.

“No, you didn’t ruin anything. Everyone understood when they witnessed what happened. They all wished you well and made it clear that they would be praying for your recovery,” Luis reassured, gently pulling Alyssa closer to him.

Feeling a wave of gratitude, Alyssa relaxed against him and found comfort in his embrace as she took a deep breath, contemplating the recent events. Questions swirled in her mind – why had she felt pain, and why had she gone unconscious? Could it be possible that… no, she had entered this world without any knowledge of the other Alyssa. Since there had been no sign of her, Alyssa believed that she would only exist within her own world. However, the recent experiences were causing doubts to creep in.

“Thank you for the surprise party, Alyssa. I truly enjoyed it,” Luther expressed with a grateful smile, his voice filled with genuine appreciation as he kissed her gently on her forehead.

“You’re welcome. Making you happy on your birthday brings me joy too,” Alyssa replied, hugging him tighter.

“Alyssa, should we just get married, right here, right now?” Luis suddenly proposed, his voice filled with determination.

Surprised by his sudden request, Alyssa questioned, “But our wedding is in a few days. Why do you want to do it now?”

“Just call it my possessive instinct. I don’t want to wait until our wedding day. I want you to be my wife, to be bound to me forever,” Luis explained with sincerity in his eyes.

Alyssa’s heart fluttered at his words, feeling a mix of excitement, uncertainty and the depth of his love for her. Yet, doubts still lingered in her mind as she wondered about the events surrounding the other Allisa.

“Luther, I’m still not sure about this”.

“Why? You have to at least give me a reason”.

“I think something happened with the other Allisa. When it happened, I felt like I couldn’t breathe, like j as going to die. Luther, I think this world is rejecting my existence”.

“You’re worrying too much. While you were unconscious, we had the doctor come to check on you and he said it was only because you were feeling too stressed from all the preparations you had to make. That’s all. Let’s forget about that and talk about us. I really want us to have the wedding tomorrow”.

“How? How are we supposed to arrange that? Preparations are being made back home. Besides, don’t you think we’re moving a little too fast?”.

“We are a bit but I want you in my life already. I want you to be known as my bride and my queen as soon as possible. The wedding will still take place at home but I still want the wedding to place here in our own sweet little heaven” He replied.

Alyssa smiled. “You really do know how to sweet talk”.

“Of course. And since it’s going to be a small ceremony, I don’t want you to worry about the preparations. I’ll get them handled. All you have to do is bring your gorgeous self down to the hall in a beautiful dress. So, do you agree?”.

“Just tell me when it will take place and I will be there”, She said and he laughed pulling her into his arms and giving her a quick kiss before the maid walked in and interrupted them.

Alyssa’s eyes fluttered open the next morning, greeted by the sight of three maids standing attentively by her bedside. She blinked groggily, momentarily confused and surprised by their presence.

“Good morning, miss,” they chimed in unison, their voices filled with warmth and kindness.

Alyssa smiled, feeling the weight of confusion easing slightly. “Morning! Where is his majesty?”, She inquired, her voice laced with curiosity.

“He is downstairs, getting things ready,” one of the maids replied.

“Getting things ready? For what?” Alyssa pressed, her interest piqued.

The maids exchanged glances before one of them finally spoke up. “For your wedding, miss. It will be taking place today.”

Alyssa’s eyes widened in surprise, her mind racing to catch up with the sudden turn of events. She had expected the wedding to take place in a few days, not today. She couldn’t help but feel a mix of excitement and nervousness at the prospect of becoming a bride so soon.

Alyssa’s heart skipped a beat. Could it be what she was thinking? The thought sent a jolt of excitement through her veins. “Is it… is it our wedding?” she asked, her voice laced with hope.

The maids exchanged glances, unsure of how to respond. Finally, one of them nodded with a smile. “Yes, miss. The wedding is happening today.”

Alyssa’s eyes widened in surprise, a mixture of emotions washing over her. “Right. We talked about this yesterday”, She exclaimed, her mind racing with a myriad of thoughts.

“We have been instructed to wait on you today. You need to get ready before his Highness comes for you,” one of the maids explained gently, attempting to quell Alyssa’s growing apprehension.

Before she could protest further, the maids moved with purpose, guiding Alyssa out of bed and hurriedly leading her into the bathroom. Alyssa found herself being swept along in the flurry of activity, her mind racing to keep up with the sudden turn of events.

Luther stood in the study, anxiously awaiting the arrival of Maxwell, his trusted guard who held the key to his questions. The weight of uncertainty weighed heavily on his shoulders as he desperately sought answers. His mind was consumed with thoughts of book’s sudden appearance and Alyssa’s fainting. He wondered if what Alyssa had said earlier was true, that the other Allisa was out there causing trouble and if his world was rejecting Alyssa.

He had always hoped that by bringing Alyssa back into his world, he could ensure that the original Allisa would never return. He couldn’t bear the thought of losing Alyssa, the one he had come to love with all his heart.

His desire to secure their bond drove him to plan this wedding hastily. If Alyssa became his wife, bound to him by marriage, she would never want to leave.
