Chapter 29

Alyssa sat in the private jet, still brooding over the fact that Luther had forcefully brought her there. She glanced over at him, who was busy with some documents, and wondered why he was so determined to bring them together. She couldn’t help but feel a sense of anger and frustration towards him for bringing her there against her will.

She tried to keep herself distracted by staring out of the window, trying to take her mind off the situation. As she was lost in her thoughts, she was interrupted by a flight attendant who offered her something to drink. Alyssa declined, not wanting to engage in any conversation.

Feeling ignored and neglected had been a familiar feeling for Alyssa throughout her life. She was worried that Luther would do the same, leaving her alone to deal with her emotions.

The air hostess came by to ask if she needed anything, but Alyssa dismissed her and instead turned her gaze out the window. She couldn’t fathom why her mother would lie to her and bring her to Luther. She didn’t want to be there, but she also couldn’t help but feel curious about him and the life he led.

As she gazed out of the window, Alyssa’s thoughts were brought back to her own life. She had always been ignored by those she loved, and feared Luther would do the same. But her thoughts were interrupted when she felt a hand on hers. It was Luther, who had come to sit beside her.

Just then, Luther’s gentle touch on her hand snapped her back to reality. She turned to find him by her side, offering her comfort. Alyssa confided in Luther, telling him that she had always been alone, with no one to care for her or make her feel safe. But with Luther, she felt different. His concern and care for her made her feel happy.

Luther hugged her tightly, and Alyssa found comfort in his embrace, finally feeling like she belonged somewhere.

“Not much of a flyer right?” he asked, trying to comfort her.

Alyssa nodded and Luther held her hand tightly and told her not to be afraid, promising that he was there for her. She held onto his hand tightly as he reassured her, feeling safe and protected by his presence. Alyssa couldn’t believe how caring and attentive Luther was being towards her, and it brought her to tears.

Feeling overwhelmed by her emotions, Alyssa rested her head on Luther’s shoulder as he continued to hold her hand. She opened up to him, confessing how she had always been alone and how no one had ever cared for her or comforted her when she was scared. But with him, it was different, and she felt happy that he was there for her.

Luther hugged her tightly and comforted her, understanding how she had been feeling. Alyssa felt a sense of comfort and security as she was held in his arms. She realized that even if Luther couldn’t be hers, she could at least enjoy being close to him as his friend.

Alyssa must have dozed off, for when she woke up, she found herself still on the plane with Luther by her side. She marveled at how handsome he looked even in his sleep, and couldn’t help but wonder why she had fallen for him. Her heart ached at the realization that wherever her heart went, he belonged to someone else.

Alyssa had always thought she was immune to love, but seeing couples together always made her envious. But now, she knew what the ideal man for her would look like- Luther. He was not only good-looking but also kind and generous. Even though she didn’t belong to his world, he still offered to help her in any way he could. Alyssa felt a sense of peace and contentment when she was with him, something she hadn’t experienced in a long time. She checked her watch and realized that it was already evening.

Suddenly an idea came to her, and though she initially thought it was crazy, her heart urged her to do it. She knew it was the only chance she would get to express her feelings for Luther, even though she knew he would never feel the same way.

With her heart racing, Alyssa bent down and softly kissed Luther on the cheek

Alyssa was munching on some fruits when Luther came out of the room. She couldn’t help but feel embarrassed as she remembered the soft kiss she had given him while he slept. Blushing furiously, she tried to act normal as Luther came to sit beside her.

She apologized for starting without him, but he assured her that it was fine and took a slice of her fruit. Alyssa playfully scolded him for eating the part she had been saving for last. Luther couldn’t help but tease her for being stingy with her food.

As they bantered back and forth, Alyssa didn’t know that she looked cute while talking in that manner. But Luther noticed and couldn’t help but think how adorable she was. His playful teasing ended with him chasing her for the tray of fruits she held onto tightly.

Alyssa ran to the cabin with Luther in hot pursuit. She couldn’t help but laugh as he tried to take the tray from her. When he finally caught her, they both laughed it off and agreed on their mutual love for food.

Feeling a sense of comfort and familiarity with Luther, Alyssa wondered if they had more in common. She asked him if he was like her, someone who could eat and eat without getting fat. Luther didn’t reply, but his gaze was intent on her, and Alyssa couldn’t help but feel like he was looking into her soul.

For a moment, they both stood in silence, and Alyssa couldn’t help but feel like he was going to kiss her. But just as quickly as the moment came, it passed, and Luther moved away from her to get his food tray. Alyssa couldn’t help but feel disappointed, knowing that his heart belonged to the real Mitchell and not her.

She reminded herself that though he was being incredibly nice to her, he was still a womanizer and someone else’s husband and tried to calm her racing heart. The trip with Luther had changed things between them, and Alyssa could feel the shift in their relationship. She could only hope that it wouldn’t lead to something bad.

As they ate their fruits, Luther caught her up on their upcoming activities over the next few days. He had planned for them to go horseback riding, hike, swim, and explore the surrounding towns. Alyssa couldn’t help but feel excited about the adventures ahead, and Luther’s enthusiasm made her feel even more so.

As the night approached, Alyssa couldn’t help but try to fight her growing attraction to Luther. She knew that it was hopeless and that any kind of feelings for him could only lead to heartbreak. She wondered why her heart had to choose someone who could never love her back.

Despite her reservations, she couldn’t help but feel happy and content in Luther’s company. He was kind, supportive, and understanding, something she had never experienced before. Alyssa tried not to dwell on the unrequited love she felt for him and continued to enjoy the moments they spent together, cherishing every second.
