Chapter 18 Chapter 18

Chapter 18: Taking Revenge 1

My hands wouldn't stop shaking. My jaw was locked so tight, I thought my teeth might actually begin to snap and crack. The second I stepped out of the infirmary, I felt like I was going to lose control. My wolf pushed hard under my skin, howling, snarling, clawing to get out. To be set free.
I had told her. I had begged her. I had wanted her not to go.
I told her not to go into that damn fight without me.
I warned her. I pleaded. But no, Ignas had to be stubborn. She had to act strong, like she could carry the whole damn world on her back. She thought I wouldn't understand. She thought I wouldn’t care.
And now, look where it got her.
Poisoned. Bleeding. Pale as hell on that bed. Lying there like a ghost. Like a weakling which she wasn't.
My feet moved on their own. They moved fast and hard, slamming the ground as I stormed down the hallway and out of the infirmary. I needed answers. I fucking needed to know which bastard had done that to her. The wolf who left her torn and bleeding. The one who thought he could mark my mate with his poison. The memory of her flinching and groaning at the pain literally has myIvision painted in red and it's the only thing it could see.
I wasn’t going to let that pass.
The moment I reached the training field, I spotted one of the warriors. His fur was still stained with dry blood. His face was pale, and he held his side like he was hurt, but I didn’t care if he was hurt, i needed answers. I walked right up to him.
"You went with her to the war. You were there," I said, my voice low but sharp. "You saw who did it."
The warrior froze. His lips parted but no words came out. His eyes darted away from mine as his fingers curled tight around his sword.
“I don't know what you're talking about,” he said, his legs all ready shaky.
"Who." I said. Not as a question, but as a demand
He swallowed hard, still silent. His throat worked like he wanted to speak but couldn’t. I stepped closer, the air between us heavy with rage.
"Which wolf did it? Which pack? Which wolf in particular poisoned your Alpha?” I asked again, slow and clear.
His shoulders tensed, but he still hesitated.
“Alpha Ignas would be very mac if sh—She finds out what voice you're up to, trust me, it's not–”
Fuck. This guy was pissing hell out of me.
My wolf was done waiting. My voice dropped lower, wrapped in power. The Alpha voice came out and I used it on him.
"Tell me. Now."
His whole body stiffened, like the command hit straight into his bones. He looked at me, his hands trembling.
"He—he was a large wolf. He has a black coated fur. He h…has just one eye. It's the left eye that's missing. His name is Daxon. The pack is is called Crescent Fang.”
I could feel my blood heat the moment the name left his mouth. Daxon. Black fur. One fucking eyed. I locked it deep into my head.
"Where’s their territory?" I asked.
The warrior paused again, but his lips moved before he could stop himself, the Alpha command still clinging to his mind.
"Their camp is past the eastern ridge. Behind the Black Pines."
He flinched the second the words were out. "Where are you going?" he asked, voice shaky.
But I didn’t answer. I turned, my legs already moving, and broke into a run. The wind hit hard against my face, but I barely felt it. My wolf ran wild inside me, pushing my body to move faster, harder. As I made it to the trees, i shifted mid stride into my wolf who purred for being free. Then he ran faster, the adrenaline of anger coursing our veins. The trees blurred past me as I crossed the border lines of Ignas’s territory and headed straight for the east.
The sun was high, burning hot against my fur, but I didn’t slow down. My lungs burned with every breath, but I kept going.
Black Pines came into view. The sharp smell of rogue wolves hit me before I even crossed into their land. Poison, blood, and dirt. It smelled thick in the air like rot. My feet didn’t stop. Not even for a second.
The second I stepped closer, a group of them appeared from behind the trees, blocking the path. Border patrol. Their eyes flashed yellow, and their lips peeled back, showing sharp teeth. They slowly brought out their pole and swords, and I just stood there with nothing.
"Step back," one of them snarled, lowering his body like he was ready to pounce. "You don’t belong here. Who the hell are you?"
I kept walking slow, calm steps. My eyes locked on them, cold and sharp.
"I’m not here for you," I said. "Which one of you fucks is Daxon?”
They didn’t answer. They lunged.
Their bodies flew at me like arrows, sharp and fast, but I was faster. I ducked the first wolf, slamming my shoulder into his ribs and sending him flying to the side. The second one snapped his jaws at my throat, but I grabbed him midair and threw him down, hard. The third one came last, aiming for my back, but I twisted, my fist slamming into his face, knocking him cold.
The moment the last one hit the ground, I stepped over them, walking straight into the enemy’s territory like I owned it. My heart was beating fast, but not from fear. From pure rage.
Daxon. This pack.
Every wolf I passed turned to look at me. Some froze, others backed away. I kept walking until I was deep inside
the camp.
I stopped. My voice came out loud and sharp.
"Where is Daxon?"
