194. Return to West

194. Return to West
Alpha King Vincent

"If only I could go with you, I would have..."

I put my index finger on her soft lips to refrain her words from going. We don't have time to waste as instructed by the old wizard of our Kingdom, Maleficus. So before sunset, we must leave and start the journey to the Western region. My hands tremble as I slowly trace the outline of her jaw.

Ashley lowered her face but I cup her chin and meet her eyes. "Take care of yourself my love, and if there is anything unusual call Beta Derek immediately. He will stay vigilant and prepared at all times, especially for you."

Her eyes got misty just like the dark clouds threatening to rain but before the tears fall to her cheeks I lowered my lips and kiss her. I understand how worried she is about me and it is difficult to see her like this. If only I could promise that this will be the last time that I leave without knowing the date of return however, I cannot comprehend the outcome of the West region given the rule of the youngest Alpha.

When I released her flushed cheeks, a tiny smile is already written on her face. A bit different from her previous expression.

"I will be very careful and I swear to the Moon Goddess that I will be strong to help the warriors with keeping peace in the pack. When you return, I will show you how much I learned."

The glint of excitement in the corner of her beautiful eyes made me glad that she have something to work on too while I was gone. I don't want to think that she would stay in the room and cry while waiting for me. Thinking of her being sad will make me unable to strengthen the force of the West. I could feel the misery that she would deal with from miles away.

"That is better, now let this Alpha King go so my journey will not be that long."

With a heavy heart, she removes herself from my arms. The Palace maid took my luggage as I walk out of our chambers. But my foot stopped before the door and as I turned my body around, she is there behind me. I took her again in my arms and kiss her forehead.

"I love you, my Queen. I promise to come back as soon as I can, do not forget that you are the life in this empty vessel of peace."

She smiled and hugged me tightly. "I love you too, I will wait for you no matter what. I will hang on to that promise, so you fight and then come home to me my love. Come home safe and unscathed, take care of yourself as much as you care for me."

Our lips meet once again for a brief meaningful kiss before I finally decided to turn myself away from her and force my feet to get out of the door and leave. The sadness surge through me like the blood flowing in my veins, I have to keep myself from being lonely or the warriors who are with me won't be able to fight and defend the West. As the Alpha King I must be strong and reliable that, I need all the power and strength that my father have passed down into me before he left to travel with Carmela.

He said I could call him and ask if there is an urgent matter that is more difficult for me to handle however, as the new Alpha King I cannot show any sign of weakness. The West will survive the war according to what we have planned. I don't want to disturb the happiness of my father, he has given up too much being the ruler of all the Alphas for many decades, it's about time he gets time to celebrate for himself and together with the mate that he has waited all his life.

"Your majesty, I apologize that you have to be on this dangerous journey right after you have just receive the crown from your father."

The sincerity in Mrs. Harger's voice who sat at the back of the four wheel drive made me frowned. I should be grateful somehow however, what I feel is the exact opposite.

"Do not apologize, Mrs. Harger,  I am here because I care about Alpha Xander as his mentor. Yes, my Luna and I are in deep despair that we have to part ways for a while however we all understand my role. I am the Alpha King and this is my objective as the most powerful wolf of the land."

She bows her head and nodded, her eyes understand the determined expression on my face. Our ride took hours before we reach the docks and from there we need to get into the yacht to head for the Western territory. It is much safer for us to travel by sea, much less danger to be discovered by the enemy.

"Ah, finally the docks!"

She exclaimed softly when the vehicle halted. I push the door on my side open to get out of the can. She followed my lead before the warriors walk behind us to the small ladder that connects the yacht to the ground.

"What beautiful ship you have your majesty, it's an honor to be on a voyage with you."

I watch her smiling face that looks around admiring the vessel. "I'm glad that you like it Mrs. Harger,  It will take time before we reach the shores of the West but it's much safer this way."

"Oh, I understand your majesty. I am confident of your ways as always sire, thank you."

I nodded to her display of enthusiasm and excitement like a teenage girl who has been given her favorite toys. Her actions reminded me of Ashley when she first boarded the yacht. The experience she had with me after we encounter a few enemies. I could have done something better, maybe next time I will let her choose the place to spend our vacation.

"Thank you for that Mrs. Harger."

I turned towards the ladder and took quick steps into the upper deck, the sea is calm and the wind is blowing smoothly. The sea captain waved to me and bowed lower to recognize my presence, I wave my hand and he started the engine. After the warriors boarded the shift it started to move into the vast ocean floor.

It would take us hours to reach the shore and I let some of the warriors get some rest. Mrs. Harger is also taking a nap in one of the yacht rooms downstairs. I choose to sit at a small table on the upper deck, watching my sea captain drive the yacht and look at the ocean floor.

What could be the outcome of my fight, is not certain but given the new power as the Alpha King, I could make most of the wolves submit to my command. The challenge is to fight an army of humans if they allow themselves to be used by the wolves. Maleficus told me about the weapons that the enemies would obtain in this war.

My heart has doubts but I must protect the Alpha of the West no matter what. He is too young to be in a complicated war like this, however, I was also the one who put this responsibility on his shoulder.
