77. The Accident Change Everything

77. The Accident Change Everything
The soft morning sunlight fell gracefully on the floor of my room this morning. I groaned softly when I woke up with my waist feeling like it was about to break. Rion didn't forgive me last night on my bed. In fact, I felt like this was punishment because I asked to break up with him.

I slowly got out of bed, my steps unsteady because my waist hurt even more.

"Oh, damn Rion and his descendants. I really can't walk normally." I couldn't stop myself from cursing him. My faltering steps stopped when my bedroom door opened. Rion entered and stared at me for a split second, then he quickly approached me.

"Come on, let me help you." Rion's voice was softer than last night after we had argued. I didn't refuse because I really needed help. He took me to the bathroom, and I sat on the closed toilet.

"Do you need my help to take a shower?" Rion's question made me stare at him sharply, but he just smiled at my anger.

"Okay, honey, I'll wait for you at the dining table. Breakfast is ready." Rion turned and left without looking back.

I showered a little longer than usual. My love affair with Rion last night only made me think about staying apart from him. However, on the other hand, I thought about the baby that was currently in my womb.

Would this baby live well with Rion and his family? But if this baby were with me, would its life also be better?

When we had breakfast, I chose to remain silent.

"I'm going abroad on a business trip for three days. Will you be okay?"

I lifted my face and looked at Rion, then nodded.

"Don't worry, I can take care of myself." Those words reassured me, but not Rion. We stared at each other for a moment, but I felt that Rion was trying to guess what I was thinking.

"Don't ever try to do anything stupid, Amelia. Get the idea of leaving me out of your head." Rion returned his focus to his breakfast, but his threat made me tremble for a moment.

I swallowed my nervousness and continued eating my breakfast. Rion left in his personal driver's car, while I left in my new car, which I didn't even realize Rion had bought for me.

The traffic was quite heavy this morning. There were several traffic jams on the main road. Afraid of getting stuck, I chose to take a detour to the law firm. Although it was quite far, it was better than being stuck in traffic on the main road with no end in sight.

"Hello, Emma, what's wrong?"

"Aren't you coming in today?" Emma sounded worried.

"Of course I'm coming, I just took a detour. The main road was too congested and–"

I couldn't avoid the impact that hit me the next second. Another car was speeding and hit one side of my car. The sound of breaking glass, a loud crash, and my body was shaken and hit hard.

Everything felt so fast when my car slammed onto the asphalt with a loud noise after rolling over with me still inside. On the verge of losing consciousness, I lay there weak and helpless. I felt pain all over my body, but it was worst in my stomach.

Oh, no. My baby. Honey... hang in there, we'll be fine.

I tried to stay conscious, but my vision began to blur, and it didn't take long before I fell into endless darkness.

Author POV

The sirens of ambulances and police cars echoed at the scene of the accident where Amelia had been hit. The woman was found unconscious in critical condition, with several pieces of glass stuck in her body. Blood flowed profusely from her inner thigh to her calf.

"Hurry, save this woman." The medical team arrived at the nearest hospital emergency room. Amelia was immediately taken into the operating room and treated.

A middle-aged man who still looked so handsome for his age, which was no longer young, waited in front of the operating room with anxiety that seemed capable of crushing his bones.

"She'll be fine." Someone who came with the man calmed him down, a much younger man.

For about two hours, the two men waited with anxiety and fear that gnawed at them like cancer.

Orion Quentin Alarick stood in the hospital hallway filled with the smell of antiseptic and the sound of hurried footsteps. This place knew no crown, bowed to no Alpha's blood, and cared not who he was outside these white walls.

He had arrived too soon. And at the same time... too late. The operating room door was still tightly closed. The red light above it flashed mercilessly, signaling that Amelia was still in the hands of the doctors—between life and death. Rion stood a few steps away from the door.

He didn't approach. He didn't try to enter. His instincts screamed to break through, to demand, to command the world to save the woman he loved. But another set of footsteps preceded him. Heavy. Firm. Full of restrained anger. Rion turned his head. Sullivan Strange. The man's face was hard, his jaw tight as his gaze fell on Rion.

No greeting. No pleasantries. Only hatred that had been buried for too long.

"You," Sullivan's voice was low, dangerous. "What are you doing here?"

Rion opened his mouth, then closed it again. For the first time, he didn't know who to speak to—the king, the Alpha, or the man who had lost everything.

"I came because of Amelia—"

"No," Sullivan cut him off sharply.

"You came because of your ego. Because your blood never knows when to stop destroying." The words hit without mercy. Rion took a step forward, then stopped. He saw how Sullivan's hands trembled—not out of fear, but because he was holding back something much darker.

"My daughter is in a coma," Sullivan continued. "And you are part of the reason she is here."

"That was never my intention," Rion's voice was low, controlled.

"I love her." Sullivan laughed short, bitterly.

"Love?" He moved closer, standing directly in front of Rion.

"Love from Crimson Moon always comes with blood. You want me to believe that my daughter is the exception?" Rion didn't answer. Because part of him knew... Sullivan wasn't entirely wrong.

"Listen to me carefully, King Alpha," Sullivan's voice dropped to a deadly whisper.
"As long as Amelia lies there, you will not see her. You will not approach her. You will not touch her life again."

"And if I refuse?" Rion asked softly. Sullivan's eyes flashed coldly.

"Then the old war will feel like a sweet memory." Silence fell between them. Heavy. Full of history. Rion took a deep breath.

"I'll stay away," he said finally.

"But not because I'm afraid of you."

"Then why?"

"Because Amelia doesn't need war when she's fighting for her life."

Sullivan stared at him for a long time, as if weighing whether the words were sincere. Then he turned and walked towards the emergency room door without looking back.

"Keep your distance," he said coldly. "That's the only reason I haven't destroyed you yet."
