65. Hunting Challenge

The door to the room I’m sleeping in tonight is open, and Rion is standing in the doorway, which he opens wide. I was brushing my hair before the dressing table when Rion came in. I turned to him and saw that he was wearing a turtle neck knit shirt that fit his body perfectly. A dark grey scarf was wrapped around his neck.

“Come in. Do you need anything?” I asked as I returned to the mirror and continued combing my hair. Rion came in and sat on the edge of the bed.

“Why are you putting in those conditions? Do you know something?”

I had expected Rion to ask me about my decision earlier; I didn’t expect it to be this soon. I exhaled.

“Circumstances can change uncontrollably at any time. I want the authority over this baby to always be with me.”

After answering Rion’s question, I moved from where I was sitting and approached Rion. As I stood before him, the space between us was limited by my stomach, which was beginning to bulge. Rion smiled as he stroked my abdomen and then kissed it, his hands still on my stomach.

“The greatest gift of my life is you and this baby,” Rion confessed.

“Really? Not your father’s throne and omega?” I asked, trying to tease out his true intentions. Rion shook his head with his lips pursed.

“I could have gotten the throne without marrying you, but it feels perfect when I marry you, and you bear my child by my side. Omega is the bonus of it all,” he replied, which intrigued me.

As I sat on his lap with my body positioned sideways, I gently tugged at the scarf Rion was wearing without removing my gaze from his. Rion kissed me first, and I welcomed him; we ignited passion quickly. I wanted to play a passionate game in bed in the cold weather tonight.

I surrender to the hot and passionate treatment Rion gives me, so I repeatedly call his name during my cruel but sweet release under his body. Sex with Rion was a wonderful thing; he always knew the point where I couldn’t resist and made me follow and enjoy his passionate play.

When Rion said my name during his release, it sounded like a confession of his deepest desires to God. It sounded sexy and evocative. After the satisfying passion play, we gargled under the thick, cosy blanket without a single thread.

“Your father must be shocked and angry with your decision,” I said after we were silent.

“Not surprised, but angry; he’s not angry with you but with me.”

My forehead furrowed.

“Why is that? Am I not the problem here?”

“No, you’re not. I’m the problem here. When I decided to let you go, I thought you’d do what Varia always does when I reject her, but instead, you left without a fight.”

I exhaled. Unbeknownst to Rion, ever since he asked me to return to him, I hadn’t devised my revenge plan. It was only the beginning. I wouldn’t be able to go deeper by pretending in the beginning.

“My father suspected as much as I did but was also wrong. And after my father found out about you, I was blamed for this carelessness, even though it wasn’t entirely my fault. My father was just giddy and didn’t want to deal with trivial matters. However, hearing that you are the omega of his wish to make the Alarick clan the fulcrum of power in the territory of the kingdom of Cardinia will be realized.”

My eyes blinked slowly, and drowsiness started to creep up on me.

“You may think it’s unfair that you’re not fully accepted, but it’s not my father who matters; it’s me and you,” he explained, making me uneasy. I still wanted revenge against Rion, but I was ready to forgive him and start a new life with him.

“That means I’ll officially be Varia’s new enemy, don’t you think?”

“Varia is not comparable to you; she’s just an ambitious woman hungry for affection but doesn’t know how to behave with her heart. The result of her ambition has made her obsessed.”

Rion answered my assumption about Varia hating me.

“Does Varia hate me?” I asked again; it felt strange to be hated by someone for something that wasn’t our fault. Rion liking me over Varia wasn’t my fault; I never forced Rion to like me.

“I don’t know, it’s hard to guess, but for now, she doesn’t like you. More like obsessed with your position.”

This conversation felt quite heavy; I changed my position to face Rion and then looked at him; after a while, I had my back to him.

“I’m hungry,” I said, making Rion smile.

“Get up, I’ll cook for you. Your father said all the necessities are provided.”

Rion went first to get dressed. I watched him do that, and it was very sexy in my eyes. When Rion finished dressing, he turned back to face me and bent down to line up our faces.

“That look is for me only, forever,” he said and kissed me until I was a little carried away by the kiss. I wanted to ask him to make love to me again here, but my hunger was so disturbing. Rion left me still naked on the bed with the blanket covering my body. I got up, put on my pyjamas, and hurried to the kitchen.

I sat in a high chair before a granite countertop that looked like a bartender’s table at a club and watched Rion cook for me. I ate the leftover bread from lunch that was still on my plate. Like a professional chef, Rion’s way of cooking is skilful and precise. I hope my son inherits Rion’s talent because it’s beneficial.

Am I this lucky?

I asked myself, who still couldn’t believe the presence of Rion in my life.

“I can make you make love to me in this kitchen if you look at me like that,” Rion said, gazing at me for a moment. I raised my eyebrows and thought about teasing him; getting down from my high chair, I approached Rion, who was pouring his cooking into a white porcelain plate.

“Maybe we should give it a try. We need more memories in this place. Considering we’ll be living in Cardinia after we get married.”

I took a piece of chickpea from the plate, put it in my mouth, and savoured the taste, sweet and savoury. However, I thought of other ideas besides making love.

“Have you ever hunted?” I asked curiously.

“Hunting animals with a rifle, you mean?” Rion threw a question at my question.

“No, I mean hunting with your werewolf form.”

“When I’m in Cardinia, it’s a regular event; why?”

I shrugged and leaned my butt against the granite countertop of the stove.

“I want to see you do it. How about tonight?”

I don’t know where the courage came from, but I needed the adrenaline. Rion looked at me as he took off the apron he was cooking with.

“Are you sure?” he asked with a half-sure look.

I nodded.

“Why are you afraid that I’ll die? You can rest assured that I’m not that weak,” I said, not wanting to be underestimated by Rion. It was always his excuse to do what he wanted because I was so weak in his eyes.

“Eat first, then we’ll go. “

I again nodded and obeyed his wishes.

“Why do you suddenly want to see me hunt?”

Rion was still curious about my sudden request. I shrugged.

“I think the baby wants it. I need the adrenaline,” I admitted as I gobbled up Rion’s food.

“The baby? Can he hear you?”

My eyes lifted from my food to look at him.

“Of course, he can even hear you. Do you want to try it? The baby will move when you talk to it.”

After my food was finished, Rion got up from his chair and approached me, squatting in front of me, who was still sitting in the chair. He then placed both hands on my stomach and smiled.

“Hi, baby Rion, you heard me, I’m your father.”

Rion began to speak and started his conversation with our baby. A few seconds later, I felt movement, and Rion looked surprised. He then looked up at me. I smiled and nodded.

“He said hello to you, I guess.”

Rion looked back down at my stomach and then spoke again.

“What are you? Are you like me?”

Rion’s question made me glare at him and pinch his hand.

“Really? Why are you asking that? The baby doesn’t even know if he’ll make it out alive or not.” I scolded him, but Rion just giggled. I clucked.

“You heard that? Your mom is very grumpy. I’m sure you’ll get out of there safely. You’ll be our pride.”

Rion’s words warmed my slightly irritated heart.

“Enough chatter; it’s time for you to fulfil my request.”

I rose from my seat, followed by Rion. The man exhaled loudly.

“Are you sure you’re not afraid of anything?” asked Rion again; I rolled my eyes lazily. I had already seen his form tear a vampire’s throat that time, so there was no reason to be afraid of him.

“Show me how savage the Alpha werewolf of the Alarick clan is,” I said, which made Rion smile just by lifting one corner of his lips.
