Chapter 19
Ava pushed his hand away, "Don't touch me, you jerk!"
The two came to the emergency exit. There weren't many people around in the morning, and the stairwell was completely quiet.
"Did you tell Grandpa about us?"
William couldn't think of anything else that could have shocked Howard into a heart attack, so he naturally suspected this woman had told him about their divorce.
Ava let out a cold laugh, "You did what you did, and you don't even know?"
William lit a cigarette and took a deep drag.
"What did I do? Spell it out."
Ava watched his movements, and no matter how she looked at it, it seemed like a smoke after sex.
He sure had a good time, keeping someone up all night, and even causing Howard to have a brush with death.
"Grandpa passed out after hearing your phone call. You had sex—did the whole world need to know about it?
You can't stand me, I'll make room for her. Can we just go to City Hall right now and get the divorce certificate? Was it really necessary to use this to disgust me?"
William's expression shifted slightly. Did this woman plant a camera on him or something?
"You're following me?"
Ava snorted and turned her face away.
"Smell the women's perfume on yourself—do I need to follow you? It's not like I've never been to JadeDragon Bay Residences. I'm the one who set the security door password. You haven't come home these past two days because you've been with Sarah. Anyone could figure that out."
William looked at her with deep resentment. He did make a mistake last night—that was the first time. He'd never stayed over there before. How did she think that every time he didn't come home, he was at JadeDragon Bay Residences?
"I got drunk yesterday."
He offered this explanation out of nowhere, then immediately wanted to take it back. No one would believe it, and besides, he really had made a mistake yesterday.
Ava looked at him sideways.
"You should explain to Grandpa, not me. Either way, I'll just endure a few more days. After the press conference, we'll get divorced."
In this marital argument, William found himself at a loss for words for the first time.
Thinking about last night's mess, he wondered if James had handled things properly. He felt vaguely uneasy—these two women had his mind in complete chaos.
JadeDragon Bay Residences.
After receiving his orders, James immediately went to a nearby pharmacy to buy a morning-after pill and knocked on the door to deliver it.
Sarah thought William had come back when she heard the knock, and the room erupted in panic.
"You, make it quick, hide somewhere."
After hiding the person, she opened the door and was disappointed for a few seconds.
"Miss Brown, Mr. Morgan sent me to deliver something to you. Please take it."
Sarah thought it was something nice, but when she took it and looked, it was a morning-after pill. She was so angry she almost lost it on the spot. Seeing that it was William's assistant, she barely managed to hold back her temper.
"Thanks for the trouble. I'll take it in a bit."
James stood at the door with no intention of leaving.
"Miss Brown, you might as well take it now. Mr. Morgan is worried about whether this pill will affect your heart condition. I need to watch you take it and make sure you're okay before I can report back."
Sarah stared at the pill in her palm, her heart pounding.
"I'm out of water at home. I'll take it after I boil some water."
James pulled out a bottle of mineral water from behind him, opened it in front of her, and respectfully handed it over.
"Mr. Morgan knows you only drink this brand of water. I opened it for you."
Sarah had no choice. She tore open the pill packaging and swallowed it, then asked angrily,
"Is that good enough?"
James breathed a sigh of relief. "Sorry to disturb you. Please rest."
The door clicked shut.
James completed his mission and felt relieved. Good thing he was thorough, or he really couldn't have dealt with this woman.
Inside, Sarah rushed to the bathroom as soon as the door closed and threw up the pill.
The man hiding behind the door came over to help her catch her breath.
"Sweetie, let's do it one more time, okay? I didn't even get to finish earlier before we were interrupted."
Sarah finished throwing up and rolled her eyes at the man, saying coldly,
"You can leave now."
The man wasn't satisfied. He picked her up and kissed her, his hands busy teasing her all over.
"You wanted it just now, too. Why are you turning cold as soon as you pull up your pants?"
Sarah was quickly aroused.
"You little slut, you really are insatiable. Didn't that Howard guy satisfy you yesterday? I've already done you twice. Come on, tell me, how many times does it take to fill you up?"
The man held her and flirted, but wouldn't give her release.
Sarah couldn't take it anymore and confessed honestly, "We didn't do it last night."
Hearing this, the man became even more excited.
"Why don't you just be with me? You don't love him anyway, and we're a perfect match."
"No, he and I are each other's first love. How could I not love him? I've loved him for eleven years."
...
William's heart finally settled back down after receiving James's message.
Outside, dusk was falling. Howard was finally transferred to a regular room, looking more haggard.
After the family talked in the room for a while, Howard kicked everyone else out, keeping only William and Ava.
The room became quiet.
Howard looked at William for a long time, then slowly uttered two words:
"Kneel down!"
His breath was weak, but his presence was undiminished.
William dropped to his knees in front of the bed with a thud. "Grandpa..."
"The Morgan Family has never had heartless people, and never had cheating descendants. You're the first. I'm making you kneel here today—do you accept it?"
William paused. "Grandpa, don't upset yourself."
"If you don't love Ava, then divorce her. There's no need to torture people like this. Ava is a good girl. She deserves better."
Ava sniffled, unable to hold back her tears.
Howard had always hoped she could give him a great-grandson, but now he was telling them to divorce. He must be truly disappointed.
"Grandpa, please don't get upset."
Ava crawled to Howard's bedside, choking up.
Howard held her hand to comfort her.
"Child, the Morgan Family has wronged you. Rest assured, even after you divorce, I'm still your grandpa. Our bond won't break."
Ava kept wiping away tears. As soon as she dried them, new ones flowed out—she couldn't wipe them clean. She had no family in this world. Now, only Howard cared for her so much. She could never repay this kindness.
On the other side, William's face was ashen. He hadn't expected Howard to immediately suggest divorce.
"Grandpa, what happened yesterday was an accident. I'll find a way to handle it properly."
Howard snorted.
"Spend some money to get rid of that woman—can you do that?"
William remained silent. As for how to handle it, he still had no idea.
Howard squeezed Ava's hand again.
"Ava, if we spend some money to send that woman somewhere out of sight, would you be willing to give this jerk a chance to make things right?"
