Chapter 125

Chapter 125

The next day, William had just arrived at the office when he heard a commotion of chattering voices.

The nineteenth floor of the Morgan Group building was always quiet. Who would dare make noise at his office? He could tell right away it was Emily.

"What's all the fuss about so early in the morning?"

Emily shut up when she heard William's voice.

"William, I really like this dress. Tell Ava to order another one. I want to take this one."

The workers delivering the dress looked at William with relief. Before he arrived, Emily had given them quite a hard time. That spoiled attitude of hers never knew any restraint. When people didn't do what she wanted, she'd say all kinds of nasty things.

William's eyes fell on the dress—pure white, elegant in its simplicity, perfectly matching Ava's style. The overall look was dignified without being too revealing, which also met his requirements.

James had found a good designer this time. He gave James an approving look.

After admiring it enough, he finally remembered Emily making a scene beside him.

"Emily, this dress was made to Ava's measurements. You're shorter than her, your shoulders are broader—it won't fit you right."

Emily looked embarrassed. Last time her brother said she had a big face in front of her fiancé, and now he was saying she was short with broad shoulders in front of the workers. He might as well just call her fat.

Was he really her brother?

She was someone everyone in the socialite circle listened to. Those wealthy young ladies had to watch her mood when they spoke. She had her pride, too, okay? If word got out, how could she hold her head up in front of them?

Emily was furious.

"I don't care. Ava definitely won't mind. You're the one blocking me. You just don't want me to wear pretty clothes."

William felt annoyed. Why did he let her come so early in the morning? She'd completely ruined his good mood.

"Go pick a few things from Michael's store. You can't have this one."

This time, his tone was heavy, clearly fed up with her tantrum.

Emily was most afraid when William had that stern face, like he was about to come after her any second.

She was scared into silence. "Fine."

Knowing she wouldn't get anywhere, she left the CEO's office reluctantly.

Emily had a serious rebellious streak. What her brother wouldn't give her, no one else should have either.

She stormed out and called Sarah.

"Sarah, let me tell you something. My brother ordered this super beautiful white dress for Ava. I really love it, but he won't give it to me and won't even let me touch it. I'm so mad."

Sarah panicked when she heard this. "A dress? What dress?"

A scene suddenly popped into her mind—Ava in a pure white wedding dress, standing on stage with the handsome and distinguished William, exchanging rings in front of everyone, gazing deeply at each other, their hearts and eyes full of "I do."

At this thought, her heart clenched painfully.

"Well, the Morgan Group is about to launch new jewelry, right? That bracelet Ava designed—I think it's ugly. My brother ordered that dress for Ava to wear at the celebration party."

Sarah felt slightly relieved hearing it wasn't a wedding dress, but at the same time, she was so angry she could barely hold her phone. She'd been too scared to go online these past few days, not knowing the whole world had changed.

Ava had actually taken her place. That trashy thing she designed became the Morgan Group's main product for the new season. Did that woman deserve it?

She was just a design assistant who'd been there a month. Why her? Many designers worked their whole lives at the Morgan Group without such an opportunity. It was only because William was backing her up. Otherwise, how would she have the ability? She was just a country bumpkin—what did she know about design?

"Emily, you have to help me. Ava used dirty tricks to harm me. The main jewelry for the new season was supposed to be mine, but now she's stolen my position."

Emily got angry hearing this. "How could this happen? Why didn't you tell me earlier? I would've torn into her right there. She dares to bully my best friend? She's got some nerve."

Sarah cried pitifully on the phone.

After Emily's attempts to comfort her failed, she said, "Forget it, let's meet up and talk in person. Don't worry, I'll definitely help you get revenge."

They arranged to meet at an upscale coffee shop. Emily arrived first and ordered two iced Americanos.

Soon, Sarah arrived. She was wearing a headscarf and sunglasses, fully disguised. Someone who didn't know better might think she was a celebrity sneaking away from a film set.

Emily almost laughed seeing her ridiculous getup.

"Sarah, what are you doing? Changed careers to become a celebrity?"

Sarah looked around cautiously. Seeing no one around, she relaxed and took off the headscarf and sunglasses, breathing heavily. Being wrapped up like that in the middle of summer was really uncomfortable.

Seeing Emily, she finally had somewhere to pour out all her grievances.

Sarah was emotional, telling Emily everything about her recent experiences in one breath. She blamed all the unfair treatment on Ava. That woman was responsible for her current situation, and she wanted that woman to pay back double.

Emily listened indignantly, wanting to go settle accounts with Ava right then and there, to stand up for her good friend.

"Sarah, don't worry. The Morgan family won't let that woman cause such chaos. I'll definitely teach her a lesson, or else she'll think she runs the Morgan family."

After days of feeling wronged, Sarah finally heard some words she wanted to hear.

"Emily, I only have you now. Your brother has been completely bewitched by that woman."

Sarah cried sadly. A wave of nausea suddenly hit her without warning. She covered her mouth and ran to the restroom.

Emily quickly followed.

Sarah threw up violently, vomiting out everything she'd eaten that morning. She still felt terrible. The taste coming up made her want to empty out her stomach completely.

Emily found a bottle of water for her to rinse her mouth.

"Sarah, don't get so worked up. Look what you've done to yourself lately. Take care of your health. If your body breaks down, that woman wins."

Sarah wiped her face. She didn't look well—whether from not going out much lately or not, she was several shades paler than usual.

"Sarah, are you okay?"

Emily got scared and immediately called William.

"William, come quick. Sarah's not doing well."

William was at the factory waiting for inspection. The new season's main products that had been rushed day and night were about to be finished, so naturally, he wanted to see them first. When he got Emily's call, he was stunned at first, then realized she was with Sarah, and Sarah wasn't feeling well.

"Hang up now and call 911 right away."

James thought to himself that William was finally being rational for once. Hearing Sarah wasn't well, instead of dropping everything and rushing over immediately, he told her to call 911 first.

Sarah had rested against the wall for a bit and recovered. She knew her heart was fine—she'd just eaten something bad. Why call 911?

But hearing William say that, instead of telling her to stay put while he rushed over immediately, made her heart ache. At this moment, the physical discomfort was completely overshadowed by sadness.

Did he really not care if she lived or died anymore?
