Chapter 38: The Price of Defiance

Chapter 38: The Price of Defiance
AVA’S POV

The silence that follows Julian's words is a knife… frosty, harsh, slicing through me. He doesn't scream. He doesn't need to. His rage burns like ice against my flesh, and Marcus's dismay settles deeper, a throbbing ache in my chest. Caleb stands stock-still at my elbow, jaw set, arms folded, vibrating with the kind of fury that always teeters on the verge of unleashing.

I can't breathe.

Julian turns, striding with measured, lethal precision, and every step rings with a verdict.

"This little… excursion," he says again, low and slicing, "demonstrates the estate is no longer viable. Caleb won't be relied upon to keep silent. And Ava…" His eyes capture me, and I stood still. That glance freezes me. "Apparently needs stricter limitations than a 'perimeter.'"

Every word hurts.

He turns away from us, finality in his voice. "We return immediately. Now. Ava to her apartment. We go back to our own lives. This vacation is over."

No. No, no.

"Julian, please." My voice breaks before I can get it back under control. "Not yet. I'm not ready. I don't want to go back there… not like this. The hospital. The silence. The walls closing in on me. Mom…" My throat burns. "Please."

He doesn't even flinch. But I notice it… that slight shift of his jaw. Still, he says nothing.

Caleb steps forward, voice snapping with rage. "Rushing back to your towers isn't going to fix anything, Father! She needed to breathe. Fresh air. Not some Sterling-authorized bubble."

Julian spins around. His eyes glint, hard and black. "And your solution was a fight at the dock? With cameras perhaps rolling? With her name, our name, on the line?" His voice turns tough. "You took a risk for a cheap thrill, Caleb. Your judgment is… has always been… bad."

He turns back to me. "The decision is made."

My heart drops. I look at Marcus… my last hope. He has said nothing. Just watching. Seeing it all. My terror. My regret. My desperation.

"Marcus…" I gasp. Only the words, but with all the emotion I am unable to speak.

He steps aside with Julian, and they exchange a low-pitched conversation I cannot understand. Julian gestures sharply with his hand. Marcus answers, cool but firm. I stand there, shaking, staring at the floor, trying to hold myself together while they decide my fate.

Finally, they turn around. Julian's anger is held back now, simmering beneath the surface. Marcus's eyes are calm… but distant in a way that makes me feel chill than Julian's fury.

"Ava," I hear him say, his voice low. "Julian's right. The risk was too great. It can't happen again."

My chest caves in.

"But," he continues, "sending you back immediately… in your current state… could cause more harm than good."

I look up. A glimmer of hope. Julian nods once… barely.

Marcus's voice lowers further, his eyes locked. "There is a condition for staying."

Julian steps forward. His body shadows the air between us, imposing. "A demonstration," he breathes and is deadly.
"A reminder of where your safety lies. And your loyalty."

I can't speak. I don't know what they are talking about. Not yet.

Marcus's eyes don't leave mine. "Tonight, you belong to us. To me and Julian. Ours completely."

Air is sucked from my lungs.

Julian's smile is slow and dark. "You yield. You give up control. Caleb watches."

Watches?

My stomach twists.

"You welcome us," Julian continues, his voice velvet over steel. "And Caleb sees the price of disobedience. Of rebellion."

I can feel the flush rising… hot and mortified and something dark. I glance at Caleb.
His face is pale. Fists clenched. Eyes wide with a combination of anger and shock. His eyes meet mine, but I'm unable to look back. I glance at Julian and Marcus. Their eyes are blazing. Unflinching.

It's a choice. Go back to the silence, the waiting rooms of hospitals, the guilt. Or stay… at this price.

I swallow. ".Stay back some more days."

Julian’s smile widens, victorious. He reaches out, tipping my chin with one finger, forcing me to meet his gaze. “Then prepare to forget your name, little storm.”

His voice drops to a whisper. “Prepare to be claimed.”

He turns to Caleb, sharp and dismissive. “And you… you’ll learn what recklessness costs.”

Later.

The candles illuminate the room. Quiet but for the sound of my own breathing, cutting and unsure. I stand between them… Julian and Marcus… my robe slipping down my shoulders. Caleb over there, locked in place, jaw set, eyes taking it all in.

I fight not to glance at him. Fight to remain focused on Julian, on Marcus, on the only things holding me together now.

Julian runs a hand down my bare shoulder. "You're tensed," he says softly. "Good. You should be."

Marcus stands behind me, close enough his breath caresses my neck. His arms go around my waist. "We told you so," he says low, "this was a lesson."

I nod, throat tight.

Julian leans close, lips to my ear. "You will feel it all. You will not speak unless we allow it. You will not cum unless we let you."

My knees threaten to collapse.

They move me to the bed. Undress me slowly. Julian's hands are sure, practiced. Marcus's touch is deeper, firmer. Both of them ease me down… knees spread, arms pulled back. Exposed. Out there to be seen.

Caleb remains standing.

Julian kisses me hard. Marcus grips my throat. I moan before I can stop.

"This," Julian says gently, "is the price."

Their lips, their fingers, blend together… mouths on my breasts, fingers deep inside me, controlling every gasp, every tremble. I want to close my eyes, block Caleb out… but I cannot. I feel like he is standing there watching. Every moan is shame and desire wrapped in one.

Marcus thrusts himself into me… slow, deep. Julian's cock caresses my lips. "Open," he orders.

I open.

They take me like I belong to them. And maybe I do.

Caleb is gasping hard now. I glance at him… eyes wide, jaw locked. He is hard. Furious. And entirely still.

How Julian fucks my face is punishment. How Marcus fucks my body is possession.

They exchange. Back and forth. I lose count. I lose language. I lose everything but the feeling of them… hot, hard, ruthless.

When I finally cum, it's with a cry I'm powerless to suppress. Julian keeps my chin, makes me meet Caleb's eyes as I shatter. "This is what she chose."

When it's over, I collapse. Used. Claimed.

Marcus has his arms around me. Julian strokes my hair.

And Caleb?

He's gone.

But I am here. In this room. In this devastation. And for now, I belong to the storm.
