Chapter 19 Fabian's Questioning

Chapter 19 Fabian's Questioning
Sophia's Perspective
Fabian walked up to me, his right hand tightly gripping my wrist with such force that it almost crushed my bones.
"Ah——"
A cry of pain squeezed out of my throat. The pain, like being clamped by steel pliers, made me almost lose my footing.
I took a few steps back, the pain in my wrist almost making me gasp for breath, but he showed no sign of letting go; instead, he tightened his grip even more.
Through those frameless glasses, I saw the flames of anger burning in his eyes, and the cold killing intent made me tremble all over. At this moment, Fabian was more terrifying than ever.
Will I die in his hands? In an instant, this terrifying conjecture flashed through my mind.
Just like the day he threatened me not to pester him anymore, perhaps he would accuse me of burglary or other crimes, and then apply to the judge to sentence me to death.
"Mr. Fabian," I tried to keep my voice calm, "could you please let go of my hand first and then listen to my explanation?"
The alpha aura on him rushed towards me violently, a highly oppressive presence that was completely different from Theo's.
Theo's imposing presence carried a touch of evil charm and playfulness, while Fabian's was simply a pure assertion of sovereignty - this was his territory, and I was the intruder.
"It hurts..." I couldn't help but plead softly. The pain from my wrist made my tears well up.
He squinted his eyes, his gaze scraping across my face like a blade: "Explanation? I think it's more appropriate to describe it as sophistry."
I felt the warmth of his palm, and that searing touch contrasted to his cold attitude.
I guessed that perhaps he was controlling the ferocity of the wolf within him, otherwise my wrist would have been crushed by him long ago.
"I... I'm here to bring you lunch," I gasped.
Obviously, he didn't believe my explanation. In a fit of rage, he laughed mockingly and said, "But I clearly saw just now that you were extremely curious about these confidential documents. If I hadn't happened to catch you, what were you going to do next? Steal these documents?"
His voice was very low, but the anger contained within it made me shiver.
I must convince him, otherwise the consequences will be unimaginable.
"Mr. Fabian, you may not trust me, but you should at least trust the security system of this building."
I gasped and said, "If I were to steal the document, I would have succeeded the moment Sebastian handed it to me, rather than delivering it to you."
I felt the strength in his hand loosen slightly, which gave me a glimmer of hope.
Seeing the suspicion in his eyes ease slightly, I quickly continued, "That day, you told me you like medium-rare steak. Since then, I've been experimenting every day, trying hard to make the flavor you like. But every time, you refused the food I brought you."
Well, that's true. I've really been practicing cooking, trying to make food that satisfies Fabian.
"Sebastian was still complaining to me before we left today," I continued to spin this lie, "he probably thought my work was incompetent and worried that I didn't take good care of your diet. So, I took the liberty of bringing some cooked steaks..."
By this point, my voice began to tremble, not entirely out of fear, but also partly due to grievance.
Tears began to well up in my eyes, then rolled down one by one, even dripping onto Fabian's hand.
He suddenly let go of my wrist as if he had been burned.
I quickly took a few steps back, gently rubbing my wrist that had been pinched red by him, on which obvious red marks had already appeared.
Fabian frowned as he looked at the back of his hand, where the moisture of my tears still lingered. He took out a handkerchief from his pocket and carefully wiped the back of his hand, his movements exuding a compulsive kind of earnestness.
"I already told you that day, there won't be a next time." He said impatiently. "Moreover, Sebastian is kind and won't scold the servants."
The implication is obvious - my excuse is full of holes.
I blushed shamefully, lowered my head, and dared not look directly into his all-seeing eyes.
"I didn't expect you to immediately ask me to leave the office," I continued to plead my case brazenly, "not even giving me a chance to say one more word. I just... just wanted to prove that I'm not a useless omega."
Fabian sneered. "So, are you complaining to me?"
Cold expression returned to his face. "Sophia, I don't have that much time to care about Omega's thoughts. Take your things and leave the office, or I'll call security."
His words were still so harsh, but at least I managed to muddle through.
To make this scene more realistic, I bit my lower lip and stubbornly said, "I won't take it back. If you don't like it, just have someone dispose of it."
As I walked out of Ellis Building, my legs were still trembling.
Just then, I really thought I was going to die in Fabian's hands.
Sitting in the car on the way back to Moonlight College, I calmed down and began to analyze today's gains.
Although I didn't have the chance to examine those documents carefully, I at least confirmed their existence. My intuition tells me that the folder marked "Personnel Changes - Confidential File" on the work desk is very likely to hold the key clues to my father's case.
But now Fabian has become suspicious of me, and getting close to those documents again is almost impossible. Alpha's offices are all equipped with safes, and those confidential documents will soon be locked away, leaving me with no more chance to access them.
When I returned to the apartment, I had just pushed open the door when I saw Theo leaning on the sofa, staring straight at me.
That look set off alarm bells in my heart.
"Where did you go today?" he asked lazily.
I instinctively wanted to cover up what I had done.
If Theo finds out that I went to the group and met Fabian, he will surely maliciously speculate about me or fly into a rage. Since the day I came out of Fabian's bedroom, he really dislike me mentioning Fabian.
I tried to make my voice sound natural. "I'm going out to do some things that Sebastian told me to do."
Theo sized me up and down, and his scrutinizing gaze made me feel uncomfortable all over.
"Really?" he said slowly.
I nodded, avoiding his gaze, and quickly fled from his oppressive stare.
