Chapter 94
Chapter 94
In the kitchen Caspian was leaning against the island talking to Bodhi. He was once again in the skin of a dark-haired white guy with blue eyes. Today he was wearing a light blue button up with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows and dark wash jeans. I was thankful the maras always kept their same skins when they popped in. I didn’t want to have to try and figure out who was who. Lena and my friends followed me into the kitchen.
“Any word on what mischief the imps have gotten into?” Carissa asked. I was proud at how fast she was adapting to my demon filled life. Lena shook her head as she moved to stand near Bodhi. They weren’t touching yet their body language was intimate. Again, I looked at Caspian with a raised eyebrow. Again, he shook his head. Fine, I’d ask later.
“So, they could be off starting a sex cult for all we know?” I asked. The image of the two of them serving amazing food on a silver tray to people having an orgy filled my head. I’d have to find out what kind of foods paired best with group sex. I suspected they knew.
“I’m not sure if that’s amusing or terrifying.” Ace mutters.
“Terrifying.” The maras spoke at once. The three of them exchanged concerned looks.
“Your history books barely touch the horror that was Caligula. Cassanova is romanticized.” Bodhi shook his head. “It was much worse.”
“Ok, enough serious talk.” Carissa opened the fridge. Cooing in delight, she pulled out a bottle of wine. “Too bad this has to breathe to be at its best.”
“Odd. Usually, imps are more on it than this.” We looked at each other at Caspian’s words. I slid my eyes to the door to the porch. Curiously, I walked out to the deck. It would be a beautiful night to sit outside and watch the stars. When I snickered, the others followed me.
On a white farmhouse style cart was a drink station. In the center there is a bucket with a bottle of wine sticking out of it. Curious we moved to see what the imps had left us. The same wine that Carissa wanted was indeed breathing while sitting on ice. Expensive looking scotch and brandy bottles were on one side. The other had juices, including my fruity drinks from Helen, and a slushy machine with an orangey brown concoction swirling in it.
Inquisitively I pulled the knob to have some flow into one of the thermal cups beside it. While it was frozen it was smooth with no chunks. I sipped it and was delighted to discover it was a pumpkin spice frozen coffee. Happily, I filled the cup. Caspian handed me a can of whipped cream from the small fridge on the bottom of the cart. I squirted some on top.
Ace and Caspian went for scotch. Carissa poured a glass of wine. Surprisingly Lena and Bodhi went for the slushies too. We took our drinks to the new patio table. Originally it was a four top. But it now could hold all of us comfortably. The chairs had been replaced with high-back wooden chairs with plush padding. As I sat down, I thought they might be more comfortable than my bed.
“The imp is so mine.” I looked at Caspian.
“Love my imp, love me.” He fired back. I tugged on his beard to bring him over to me. I quickly kissed him then released him.
“Deal.” He kissed me hard but quick. Then laced our fingers together where our hands rested on the table.
“AWWWW.” We whipped our heads to our guests. They were all looking at us and snickering. I stuck my tongue out at them. I didn’t care if they knew I was in love with a demon.
“So, are these your usual looks?” Carissa waved at Lena and Bodhi. They both chuckled.
“I think of this as my Vivienne look.” Lena chuckled lightly. She told the story of when she first popped in and took on an appearance that she thought I would be most comfortable with.
“I appreciate that.” I laughed thinking about what she looked like that first time. “The Leia Rabbit look was just odd.”
“Oh, you mean this?” She shimmered back into the sparkly pink costume. Also changed her looks back to Jessica Rabbitish.
Carissa and I snickered. Ace looked at her too hard. Carissa glared at him.
“It’s not what you think, Babe.” He held out his hands to fend her off. “I’m thinking you could rock that. Then I could rock you.”
“EWWW.” I shivered. “I already know too much about your sex life! Stop!”
Lena shimmered back into her Vivienne look. Carissa looked at Bodhi. “Do you always look like that? What about the accent?”
Again, Lena let out a musical laugh. But it was Bodhi who answered. He wiggled his eyebrows. “She has a crush on an Irish actor.”
Carissa and I nodded knowingly. Now that he mentioned it, we knew who they were talking about. Ace looked questioningly at us. Caspian looked bored as he sipped his scotch.
“Have you ever popped into his dreams?” Carissa’s voice held a bit of envy. Again, Lena laughed.
“Not since he got married.” The three of us women snickered. The men just shook their heads. We lapsed into silence as a few meteors shot through the sky. I looked at Caspian coquettishly. He was giving me a similar look. We both were reminiscing about our time watching the same meteor shower last night.
I snuggled into Caspian. Carissa rested her head on Ace’s shoulder. Lena leaned into Bodhi. I tilted my head back to look at my demon snuggle buddy questioningly. Softly he whispered “later.” In my ear. I was going to get answers about those two soon. Even if I had to interrogate him.
Once the show stopped, Ace looked at us. “Anyone wanna play strip poker?”
