Chapter 24
RANDALL POV
A WEEK EARLIER
Note to self: Never ever try to help anyone in life. The pain is more excruciating than you can handle. If I had minded my business and walked away, I would not have been in this situation. If I didn’t want to help, I would have walked out alive with a guilty conscience but I wouldn’t be held against my will. After everything I said I would do to witches when I found them, I was captured by one again. This was so terrible.
I think the worst part was not knowing what she wanted to do to me. At least my mum wanted me cursed and locked away from other forms of humans for a thousand years. She wanted me to suffer the life of an lonely immortal. I don’t know who this woman is, except she kills me now, there is nothing else that is going to be worse.
Unless you count living with her, this woman smelled very bad and her house stank the more. That was why I was so eager to leave her house and not even ask for food to calm my hunger. But I guess there is one good outcome, either she fed me to stop my hunger. Or my hunger was scared and had gone on an indefinite strike, because I always felt full, and yet I had no idea what entered my mouth.
I was drugged most of the time, I could only seen some of the things that happened to me. I could hear the old woman whistling as she brewed some concoction that I had to drink. I struggled my best but my whole body was numb and although her face was a blur, I could make out some of the crooked smile she plastered on her face.
“I will kill you.” I swore as she mumbled something softly. She didn’t seem like an old hag again. I wondered why I even bothered he;ping her in the first place. If I hadn’t bothered myself, I would not be in this situation right now.
It had to be a charm that she put on me unknowingly to enable her manipulate my emotions into helping her. That was the only explanation for this.
“Get well first.” I closed my eyes unable to keep fighting as I drifted out of my nightmares. Nightmares that I was trying so hard to forget. It wasn’t a nightmare because it actually happened to me, once a long time ago, and I didn’t want to remember it. But it seemed like what she forced into my mouth was supposed to make me remember what I didn ‘t want to remember. I closed my hands tightly as I tried to stay awake but an invincible force was shutting my eyes close against my will.
“DDon’’t fight it.” She mumbled trying to hold me but I slashed at her, only managing to tear her clothes but I was unable to scratch her.
“Let me go.” I rasped but I couldn’t hear my own voice. I wasn’t even sure I was speaking audibly again or coherently.
“Rest!” Came her cold response and just like that, I fell asleep.
I could remember that fateful night, my life was ripped away from me. Whisper was excited to go for a run after our late night meeting and since I had nothing else doing, I agreed and naturally let him take the lead. I watched as he changed and his furs came out, his black big furs that could intimidate other alphas. Together with his red eyes, he was truly the demon Alpha
PRESENT DAY
It wasn’t easy getting used to this kind of life, where I would be communicating with people. It felt like a torture after spending a thousand years being quiet, and just listening to my snarls. Now I has a bed, a comfy room, good foods and a lovely family to get back to. There was literally nothing else I could ask for at this moment.
I was in my room done with breakfast when there was a knock on my door. I looked up, angry at the disturbance.
“Is there a problem kid?” I asked as Rico shook his head and said,
“No, not really Alpha Alex told me to let you know if you were coming for border patrol, if you want to come along, you can follow me.” He said as I thought about it. For years, scratch that Centuries I have been stuck as a human form, I didn’t even know if I had the will power to completely shift for the first time. It was scary to find out.
Although my nails and fangs and eyes had returned back to normal after that terrible ordeal with that witch, I wasn’t in the mood to try it out. I do not know what she did to me, but I didn’t want to find out.
“Tell my brother that I want to decline.” I said as the boy looked at me confused. It was almost as if nobody had ever declined the Alpha before.
Well they shouldn’t dare decline his orders but I was his senior brother. Surely he was going to understand where I was coming from.
Luckily the boy didn’t try in pressing me to accept the invitation, he just fumbled with his fingers and with a glare from me, he bowed and turned to leave, leaving me alone with my thoughts once more. I had more pressing facts to worry about, and it was mainly on that girl who had set me free. Only a witch could set me free, so there was no two doubts about it, she was a witch. I would start with her first to annihilate all the witches in the world. This was now my life goal. I was going to get started on this then I will figure out what to do next for the next immortal years. Or was I human now? How do I find out.
