Chapter 73 Right Place, Wrong Time.

Chapter 73 Right Place, Wrong Time.
Dael's POV

“What was so important that you couldn't take care of it yourselves?” I hissed, glaring at him.

It pained me to have to leave Raven in that state.

“I'm sorry, sir, but this is a pretty complicated situation.”

I groaned. “Fine. Let's get this over with.”

I followed him into the room where I had locked up Drew and his companions earlier.

The moment I entered the room, I froze.

Adrian lay unconscious on the floor, his hands tied behind his back.

How did he get here? I asked myself absentmindedly.

“We have no idea, sir. We saw him sneaking around earlier and knocked him unconscious. What do we do with him, sir?”

I just stared at Adrian. I honestly had no idea what to do. If it were someone else, I would have ordered him to be killed, but I couldn't do that.

Not to my brother. Not to my twin.

I crouched down and reached for him, but a growl cut me off.

I snapped my head toward Blade, my eyes sharpening immediately.

I reached for his gag and pulled it off.

“You have something to say to me?” I sneered.

“Stay the fuck away from Adrian.”

That almost made me chuckle.

“If I remember correctly, you were the one who had a problem with him. Now you're acting like you care about him?” I arched a brow at this Blade guy.

“How did you know that?” he asked, surprised.

I rolled my eyes, ignoring him as I turned back to Adrian. I signaled two of my men forward.

“Take him to an isolated room. Raven cannot know he's here.”

I still loved my brother, but I wasn't going to let him come between Raven and me. Not when we were just starting to build our relationship.

“So, you're just going to hide this from Raven? Why?” Blade asked harshly.

Again, I ignored him.

“Are you impersonating Adrian?” he spat.

This time, I felt offended.

“I would never impersonate a coward like my twin brother,” I hissed angrily.

Blade's eyes widened.

“Twin brother?” he muttered in disbelief.

Realizing what I had just said, I groaned internally and gestured for my men to carry Adrian out faster.

“You two are actually related?” Blade asked again, but this time, I refused to answer him. He was cunning, provoking me into saying things I didn't want to reveal.

“I'm talking to you!” he shouted, but again, I said nothing.

Once my men were out of the room with Adrian, I turned to him.

“Now, listen to me carefully, you piece of shit. Raven cannot know about this, understood? It will only complicate things. So, if by any chance she comes here and you start spilling, I promise to slowly chop you into little pieces and scatter your body parts across the country.”

With that, I told my men to gag him before leaving the room.

I directed my men to a new room, one I knew Raven wouldn't find easily.

The moment Adrian was placed on the ground, he groaned, and I knew he was waking up.

For some reason, I felt nervous.

Adrian's POV

I slowly forced my eyes open. I didn't know where I was. I could barely remember anything.

I noticed that I wasn't alone in the room, but my vision was blurred, so I couldn't make out the faces clearly.

I closed my eyes and blinked a few times before my vision finally became steady.

The first person my eyes focused on was a man who looked exactly like me.

My brain instantly registered it, and I jolted into a sitting position.

“Dael,” I muttered.

He looked exactly like me—from his face to his voice and even his height. The only thing that could differentiate us was our physique. I was slightly bulkier.

“Hello, brother,” he greeted, but there was nothing welcoming about his tone.

“What are you doing here? How did you find me?” I asked, shocked.

I could still hardly register what was going on.

There was so much I wanted to ask him.

“Find you?” he scoffed as he paced slowly around the room. “I didn't find you, Adrian. You found me.”

He sneered.

“Why are you here?” he asked.

I could still hardly put my thoughts together, but I managed to answer him.

“Raven. I'm here for Raven.”

“She's not here,” he replied quickly, almost too quickly.

It immediately aroused my suspicion.

“You must have gotten the wrong information.”

“Even so, I have been looking for you for weeks now. Raven isn't the only one I wanted to find. I had wanted to find you ever since I discovered I had a twin.”

“Well...” He spread his hands out. “You found me. Now leave.”

I sighed, closing my eyes before reopening them.

“Listen, Dael, there is so much I want to ask you. About Aster and what happened there—”

“No. You need to leave!” Dael shouted.

I stared at him in disbelief. His behavior was extremely suspicious.

“Dael, is something wrong? Why do you want me gone so badly? Don't you want to at least get to know me more? Is there something you're hiding?”

Dael scoffed.

“I am not hiding anything, Adrian. It's just...” He paused. “You might have been followed, and I can't afford that happening.”

I could tell from the way he refused to look me in the eyes that he was lying. That wasn't the reason.

“I wasn't followed by anyone. I made sure of it,” I told him sternly, but he wasn't having it.

“Dael, you need to listen to me. Raven is missing. I don't know if you remember her—”

“Of course I remember her. I could never forget her. We would have been together if you hadn't stolen her from me to begin with.”

I frowned.

Wait, what?

What the hell was he talking about?

“How on earth did I steal Raven from you?”

Raven's POV

“We need to be on our way now,” Drew said as he handed me the ring. He began packing weapons into a bag.

“Wait, are we just going to leave?” I asked.

“What else are we waiting for?” He frowned at me.

“Shouldn't we let Dael know? Shouldn't we at least think about our next move?” I tried to reason with him, but Drew wasn't having it.

“We need to go there now. She might be in danger.”

“Drew, calm down. I doubt she's in any danger. Besides, she probably put that location there when she first left Noctrix. Who knows if she's still there?”

Drew didn't reply as he continued packing.

I knew I wouldn't be able to get through to him. All he could think about right now was finding my mother.

Deciding that I needed some fresh air, I left the room, trying to find my way out of there. I didn't think Dael would care since I wasn't a prisoner trying to escape.

“You don't understand!” I heard someone shout, grabbing my attention.

Who could that be?

I headed in the direction of the sound, but just as I got close to it, one of Dael's men blocked my way.

“Do you need anything?” he asked rudely.

“Nothing. I just wanted to check on the people I came in with,” I lied.

The man nodded.

“It's this way.”

He motioned for me to follow him, which I reluctantly did. My eyes kept glancing back toward the room.

“So, did you guys catch the intruder?” I asked.

“Yes,” the man replied. “Dael is dealing with him now.”

“Good.” I nodded, trying to act as though I was simply making small talk and not trying to get answers.

“So, who is this intruder?” I inquired, acting nonchalantly as though I didn't care.

The man, on the other hand, didn't bother replying. Instead, he stopped at a door.

“We're here. You only have ten minutes, then you have to leave.”

I nodded and muttered a small thank you.

I was never good at acting.

The moment the door opened, Blade swung his head toward it. The moment our eyes met, he let out a breath of relief.

I ran toward him and Rhea, removing their gags and untying their hands.

“Are you guys all right?”

“We're fine.” Blade waved it off. “Are you all right?”

He asked me, and I looked away.

I didn't know how to answer.

Do I tell him no or yes? Because now, I didn't even know if I was all right anymore.
