Chapter 25 Mistress

Chapter 25 Mistress
Kade

Dad’s eyes shifted from me to Tate as she stepped out from behind me.

I knew that look.

Why was he here? The last time I saw him was at the gala before he left shortly after. Unless…

Mum told him about Leo.

A muscle tightened in my jaw. Makes sense.

“Kade.” His voice was deep and low.

His gaze moved to Tate, who immediately lowered hers.

“Who’s this young woman?” he asked.

She straightened almost immediately.

“I’m Tatum, sir.” She paused, her hair falling slightly over her face — her very short hair that somehow suited her perfectly. “Leo’s babysitter,” she added.

Dad pressed his lips together and nodded, but I knew he wasn’t satisfied with that answer.

He never was. He always wanted more.

“Why are you here?” I asked before he could continue.

Tate glanced at me, surprise flickering across her features at how sharp my tone sounded.

Dad didn’t even blink.

“This is my house, just in case you’ve forgotten,” he pointed out, lips quirking faintly.

“Miss Tatum, can you excuse us?”

He rose from his seat, picking up the glass of drink resting on the table.

She nodded politely and left without sparing me another look.

The moment she disappeared, Dad turned toward me, taking a slow sip of his drink, eyes fixed on mine.

I slipped my hands into my pockets.

“Familiarizing yourself with your brother’s babysitter, I see.” he said.

I frowned immediately. I knew that tone — and more importantly, what he was implying.

“Considering she’s been here for a month now, I don’t think familiarizing is the right word,” I muttered.

A muscle ticked in his jaw as he set his glass down.

“Are you having an affair with her?” he asked plainly.

I twisted my lips. I knew that was what he’d wanted to say all along.

“Does it look like I am?” I shot back.

If there was one thing I had perfected, it was rage-baiting my father. Nothing pleased me more than getting under his skin.

He pressed his lips together.

“Young man, I’d like an answer. Not more questions,” he said, his patience thinning.

I gave a small shrug..

“You don’t know what it’s like around here. And I’m not interested in entertaining questions that make no sense.”

I turned to leave. I needed to check on Leo before heading to bed.

Tomorrow and the days to come would be stressful. Leo had to learn how to move around with his crutches, and I had practice before Monday’s game — the first game of the season.

Houston Eagles.

Their reputation preceded them and we all knew it wouldn’t be an easy game.

Coach Harry was counting on me. So were my teammates.

The cons of being captain.

Everyone expected something from me. That part wasn’t new. What I refused to accept, however, was a man I barely saw five times a year questioning my decisions.

I wasn’t dating Tatum. But he didn’t need to know that.

“If I find out,” Dad said.

I paused at the staircase but didn’t look back.

“You’re involved with her — a nobody — just know you’d be ruining your life… and hers.”

I rolled my eyes and continued upstairs.

A masked threat.

Grey Sinclair had always made decisions that destroyed lives without a second thought.

He’d ruined many before and he was ready to ruin more.

Good thing I didn’t give a fuck about him.

He could go to hell for all I care.

I knocked gently on Leo’s door before pushing it open.

The room was bathed in darkness, save for the light streaming in from the closet. I reached for the switch, flicking the lights on.

I stood for a minute watching as he slept peacefully. My heart ached.

He deserved a life outside of these walls, just like other kids. If only he had parents that weren’t ashamed of letting him out.

That were not ashamed of his existence entirely.

I exhaled.

I hung around for a while. After adjusting his blanket and pressing a kiss to his forehead, I left.

Once my door was shut, I walked straight into the bathroom and turned the shower on, letting the water drench me… in my clothes.

I closed my eyes as different images flashed in my mind. Different memories and then slowly they were replaced.

Blue eyes. A mole next to tempting lips. Shaky breath.

I peeled my eyes open, placing my hand on the glass. My fingers left an imprint that got washed away by the water pretty quick and that was when I saw it.

Tatum…naked. Back pressed against the glass.

Her hair wet, her lips parted and her back arched. And then she’s looking at me with those gorgeous eyes that almost rolled into the back of her head.

I was buried deep. Deep, deep inside her.

God, she felt good.

My hands slid into my pants and through my briefs, teasing my dick that was already hard.

I rubbed my thumb back and forth the tip of my penis and a shudder ran through me. I whimpered, dropping my head on the glass and withdrawing my hand.

I increase the intensity of the water to wash the images from my mind. But it was a futile effort.

It was still as hard.

She was just downstairs. The thought of that was even more disturbing than having inappropriate images of her.

Because that was where the danger lied. I could not be having sexual fantasies about a girl I barely liked, and worse when she was my brother’s babysitter because one wrong move and my brother would lose the company of one girl he loved being around.

I drew in a breath, trying to calm myself. I could not afford to be selfish.

I cannot afford to fantasize about Tatum Calloway.

And that was final.
