UNJUSTIFIABLE.
CHAPTER 73: UNJUSTIFIABLE.
As Lord Kerrigan hasted out of the palace, he ran into Commander Lin.
"Lord Kerrigan," Commander Lin greeted. "Why the haste? I was coming to escort you."
"There won't be the need for that. Something urgent came up," he replied. Walking away.
"Farewell back to Talvor," Commander Lin bade, but Lord Kerrigan didn't respond. Commander Lin shrugged off his negligence and continued into the palace.
Lord Kerrigan met his men standing by the horses as they had been made ready.
"My Lord," the men bowed. He didn't respond and just went on to mount his horse.
Lord Tally and the Captain of the Lord's Guard mounted their horses as well. The soldiers that accompanied them and a few servants also quickly hopped on their horses.
"Let's go. Hyah!" Lord Kerrigan instructed, kicking his horse. He and his retinue rode out of Moonville. The soldiers at the gate saluted him as he passed through the gate.
He led them to the same path they emerged from through the portal. Lord Tally looked a bit confused as they followed that path.
"My Lord, aren't we supposed to follow the main path?" he inquired.
"We're going back through the portal," Lord Kerrigan answered, having a stern look.
"But we have no mage with us," lord Tally said. He was right to worry. But Lord Kerrigan kept mute, not worried at all. Well, he was mostly angry, sulking.
They arrived at the exact spot where they emerged from and stopped there. Everyone who followed Lord Kerrigan wondered what they were doing there.
Lord Kerrigan then brought out a red crystal rock. It was attached to a chain. He held it up by the chain in front of him, and then it began glowing. Soon after, a little string of red light appeared and it enlarged until it formed a portal.
Lord Kerrigan's retinue were amazed at what they saw. From the other side, they saw the Priest and his acolytes. They bowed at the sight of Lord Kerrigan. He nodded in acknowledgment and rode through. His men all rode through and the portal closed.
The soldiers spotted them as they got close to the city gate and signaled the other. A dozen soldiers quickly rode out as they were always ready and on standby. They were led by a Lieutenant.
"My Lord," he greeted as they reached Lord Kerrigan.
"What's going on in my domain?" Lord Kerrigan asked.
"Um, my Lord. The people are-"
"Hyah!" Lord Kerrigan kicked his horse and rode into the city, furiously. He didn't need to hear any further. That was enough to know that King Aslan was right.
As they rode through the city, the people gave way. He went straight to the palace. The soldiers spotted him from the watch tower above the palace gate. They were shocked and it quickly opened the gates.
He didn't wait for his horse to be held steadily for him to alight. He jumped down just before it reached its destination. The Captain of the Lord's Guard did likewise. Lord Tally came down from his horse as quickly as he could as the horse came to a halt, following after Lord Kerrigan.
As Lord Kerrigan walked the hallways, he met Col.
"Lord Kerrigan!" he gasped, then he quickly bowed. "We weren't expecting you back today."
"Tell me, what idiotic thing did Marcus wrought while I was away?" Lord Kerrigan asked.
Col sighed, not knowing how to say it.
"My Lord, Marcus had the Lycans searched, ransacking their residences."
"Oh, spirits!" Lord Kerrigan sighed frustratedly, shaking his head.
"Where is he now?" Lord Kerrigan asked.
"He was last seen heading to Aurelius's establishment, the Dollhouse," Col revealed.
Lord Kerrigan snarled and headed out of the palace. He got on his horse and rode in fury there. Col ran outside, hopped on his horse, and hurried after them.
The same way he hopped down from his horse at the palace, was the same way he hopped down. He practically kicked the door open and stormed in. The people within gasped and were startled at the sudden intrusion.
"What crazy person did-"
Aurelius froze in shock when he saw who it was that had arrived.
Lord Kerrigan looked around furiously, searching for his son. He spotted him at a corner, which was usually reserved for the elites of the elites, surrounded by girls who were lightly clothed.
"Get out!" Lord Kerrigan ordered firmly but not raising his voice.
"Everybody, get out!" the Captain of the Lord's Guard yelled forcefully, using his deep Lycan voice.
Everyone scrambled out, making sure not to come close to Lord Kerrigan. He looked fearful in his rageful state. Even the girls who were with Marcus scampered out of the Dollhouse.
Aurelius also began walking out and Lord Kerrigan looked at him in fury.
"Where do you think you're going?" he said to Aurelius. He stopped abruptly, gulping.
"Father. Welcome back," Marcus said as he approached his father, smiling. Lord Kerrigan just stared at him stoically, saying nothing in response.
"Are you sure you actually went to Moonville at all? It's literally been just a day," Marcus said. He was just trying to be bold.
"Why did you go searching the residences of the Lycans?" Lord Kerrigan asked.
"We needed to. We spoken about it in the council meeting, Father."
"But I didn't give the go ahead, did I?"
"No, Father. But I-"
Lord Kerrigan slapped his son across the face, interrupting him. Marcus held his face as he glared at his father.
"Why do you choose to be a thorn in my flesh? All you've been doing is ruin things for me, and now you've jeopardized the stability of my domain."
"All I did was to make you proud. All I've been doing is to make you proud. But I guess I'll never measure up to Terri, your perfect son. Would I?"
"Don't you dare mention him name," Lord Kerrigan threatened.
"You may feign ignorance, but you and I know I wasn't the reason he died. I knew I was never going to be the Alpha, and I was okay with that. Then after his death, you've given me unreasonable expectations to meet up with which I've been doing my best to meet up with. When will you ever come to realize that I've been doing my best? Huh?!"
Lord Kerrigan punched Marcus in the face, throwing him across the room, and he landed on a table breaking it. Lord Kerrigan rushed furiously at him and grabbed him by the shirt and punched him a couple of times.
As he was about to land another punch, someone held back his hand. He turned and saw that it was lord Daveen.
"Let go of me!"
"That's enough, Lord Kerrigan," lord Daveen said, refusing to let go.
Lord Kerrigan pushed him aside and stood to his feet, panting. Marcus laughed and coughed through his bleeding nose and mouth.
"Get the Prince to the healers," lord Daveen instructed the soldiers. They quickly rushed and grabbed tried helping him up, but he arrogantly pushed them away, and stood up by himself.
Marcus spat on the floor then glared at his father for a bit, before he walked out, accompanied by the soldiers.
"My Lord, I didn't approve of what he did, but my suspicions were right. He found the Lycan that is in cahoots with the Shadow cloaks," lord Daveen said.
Lord Kerrigan didn't know how to react to what he was told. He just turned and walked out of the Dollhouse.
