THE FORSAKEN.

CHAPTER 62: THE FORSAKEN.

ALEENA'S POV.

The soldiers of Rivendell that were within the arena took up arms and formed a defensive barricade in front of where I, Amelia, and the other nobles were, while others took position beside these strange masked folks.

Lieutenant Kiva stood right in front of the soldiers who were positioned in front of us. With the arrival of the soldiers, Caspian climbed back up and stood beside me. I hugged him despite all the ruckus that went on.

"I told you I had it, didn't I?" Caspian smiled. I smiled back at him, and then we both looked at the scene below us.

"Who are they?" I asked Amelia.

"I have no idea. But they'll soon wish they never set foot here," she replied, consumed by fury.

"Eradicate them. Spare no one!" Lieutenant Kiva ordered, and the soldiers charged at the strangers.

"Don't!" Cormac yelled stretching his hand toward them, trying to prevent them from moving, but he was a little too late.

As the soldiers charged at the stranger intruders, one of them lifted his right and clenched his fist. The soldiers abruptly halted, grabbing their necks as they wheezed. We all watched in shock at what that person did.

He had taken away their breath. Most of them fell to the ground in that struggle. He then twisted his clenched fists, snapping their necks, then they all fell dead.

"What in the spirits!" I exclaimed in shock and fear. We all were terrified at what we saw.

"Archers, attack!" Lieutenant Kiva shouted, and then the archers fired their arrows at the strangers.

The others lifted their hands and a dome-like barricade covered them, deflecting the arrows into the crowd, killing and injuring some of them.

I gasped in shock at what happened, becoming even more disturbed by who these strange folks were.

"Soldiers, atta-"

"Wait!" Amelia interrupted. Lieutenant Kiva looked up at her, and then back at the enemies, fuming.

"Who are you? Why did you come here?" Amelia inquired.

"We are wrath. We are vengeance. We are justice. We are The Forsaken," the said in unison. And it sounded like their voices echoed.

Suddenly, they began multiplying and became numerous. One of them multiplied into four, and they all drew out their weapons.

"Bloody hell! He had to pull the illusion stunt," Fiala said frustratedly as she was terrified.

"Charge!" Lieutenant Kiva shouted, and then they charged at their enemies. The Forsaken also began running toward them.

The crowd of spectators took to their heels, heading to the main entrances of the arena, but the gates swung shut of their own accord and wouldn't open. The people screamed and pressed against the gate but it just wouldn't open.

The people began pressing against each other, causing them to scream out in pain as they struggled.

Most of the vampires went up against the illusions and were eventually struck by the real individuals. That was the fate of many of them.

A couple of The Forsakens came together and magically lifted the weapons of the soldiers they had slain, and fired them at the nobles. The mages who stood in front of us deflected the weapons magically as well.

"Get the Queen and the nobles to safety," Cormac said to the mages.

"This way," one of the mages said as she led the way while the others stood by the side as a defense.

"Let's go," Amelia said, grabbing me by the hand.

As we began making our way away from where we sat, I heard a whooshing sound, then all mages fell to the ground with their throats slit. I gasped and turned, then I saw the one who I could tell was the leader of The Forsaken and his replicas grabbing star-shaped boomerang.

Angered by that, Cormac drew his sword before he jumped down the ledge and went after the leader of The Forsaken. He was able to identify who the real person was, evading the attacks of the replicas.

Meanwhile, the people were still unable to knock down the gate, and a stampede ensued as the people struggled. Those who were vampires tried scaling the walls to escape the humans who were trapped in the stampede.

With a blast of magic, Cormac was thrown back, but he maneuvered like a cat and stuck his sword to the ground to prevent him from continuing backward. He then launched fiercely at the one he was after again.

With every strike by Cormac, the leader of The Forsaken magically blocked them, until he was able to land a hit with a left hook with his elbow, causing the one he fought to take a few steps backward before he gained balance.

Lifting his head, Cormac saw that the top left side of the mask had been broken by that hit, revealing part of the person's face.

He angrily rushed at Cormac, and Cormac swung his sword at him but he dematerialized like smoke and appeared behind Cormac. Sensing he was there was behind, Cormac turned quickly but was restrained by the firm grip of the leader of The Forsaken.

As much as Cormac struggled, he couldn't break free as his hand was twisted until his sword fell off his hand, and the leader of The Forsaken grabbed him by the neck, lifting him from the ground and choking him.

"You are fierce, I'll admit that. You still have some usefulness in all of this," the leader of The Forsaken said.

Anger brewed within me as I saw how helpless Cormac seemed in his hands at that moment. But before I knew it, Caspian had pounced on the one who grabbed Cormac, knocking him away as he slammed into him forcefully.

Cormac landed on his feet but staggered as he coughed, but Caspian held him. He turned and saw that it was Caspian, and he nodded in appreciation.

Caspian rushed at the leader of The Forsaken and his men fired some magical blast at him. Covering himself with his hand, a sort of shield was formed around him and the blast had no effect.

They were surprised, as we were also. Caspian smiled and charged at them again since he was immune to their magic. He engaged them in combat and proved to be formidable.

Unfortunately, he was restrained with chains that the leader of The Forsaken controlled magically to restrain him, holding his legs together while his hands were spread apart.

He walked towards him and looked at him. His eyes widened when he saw an amulet that was around his neck.

"How did you get this?" he asked.

But before Caspian would speak, I charged at him also and he simply used magic to still me. I couldn't move no matter how much I struggled to.

"The hybrid," he said, looking at me with a smile of satisfaction.

He then nodded at the rest of his people, and they opened a portal.

"Why don't we take this somewhere else?" he said and flipped two fingers, then my neck snapped, and I lost consciousness.

They grabbed me and walked through the portal while Caspian struggled to break free. But there was nothing he could do. Immediately, the portal closed, the chains fell off, and he ran toward where the portal was.

"Aleena! Aleena!" he shouted, while Cormac stood fuming.

The gates finally swung open at that moment. A lot of irreparable damage had already been done. Lives were lost.

Amelia looked around in disbelief at all the carnage that had happened, on her birthday of all days.
