Chapter 50 (The Last Chapter)
Klaus:
I tightened my arms around my wife who stirred in her sleep as she got another nightmare.
It’s been the case since we finished the war. She’s been too shaken up about it to even speak of what happened, but I could easily read her mind and see what she saw.
The visions that were in front of her made her feel like everything she chose to believe in as she grew up was a lie. The fact that she had sent Lorenzo to kill her father didn’t go unknown or unspoken of, which made their already broken relationship hit an all-time low this time. The queen refused to look at Kiara, even when she learned of her daughter’s pregnancy, the queen had refused to come and be by her side.
Now my wife was in her last month. It’s been three months since we found out about the pregnancy, and with her carrying a hybrid child inside her, the pregnancy was a lot faster than most. But that only meant consequence…
With my wife’s weak body, I knew that the only thing keeping her standing was my blood which she was now drinking daily. It had started with being a weekly basis thing until I caught her scent bleeding in the bathroom and She screams filled the palace’s walls as our baby ripped her womb inside her.
The baby was also feeding on her blood, and I didn’t know how much she would be able to last if this kept going on. But thankfully, with the regular intake of my blood, she was healing. However, I feared her dying as a human while giving birth to wake up as a vampire a while later.
While the possibility of that was most likely to happen. She and I were yet to discuss how she felt about it, and with everything that happened and that she’s been through, I couldn’t bring myself to open the subject with her, to begin with.
I kissed her temple softly, whispering soothing words to calm my stirring mate down. Her body calmed down for a second before she opened her eyes and held on to her stomach making me frown in confusion.
“Klaus?” She whispered and I tightened my grasp around her, putting a hand over hers which was on her stomach, where our baby was resting. My eyes widened, however, when I felt movement inside her. It was like I could feel our baby fighting to get out of her. Turning my beauty around to lay on her back, my eyes met hers and I read her mind “our baby is coming”
“GUARDS!” I called so loud that I felt all the movement around the palace die down for a second. The door burst open and the guards’ eyes widened as they took in the state of my mate “get the doctors, now! Queen Kiara, is in labor”
My eyes met my mate’s once again as soon as the guards sped out of the chamber. Biting my wrist, I knew that she HAD to drink my blood. The idea of losing her was something that I didn’t want to think of, and the fact that it could happen scared me.
“Klaus, I’m…” I could read her mind and knew that she was frightened. But it was something that I didn’t want her to be, she had to be as relaxed as possible. I was going to be by her side through it all.
“I know, my queen. But I want you to be strong of me, okay? It would hurt, but you have to be strong and fight for me” my voice was above a whisper but I knew that my wife could hear me. Her expression changed to one that was contorted with pain before a scream escaped her lips. I felt her pain, my chest felt like it was being ripped apart at the sight. But I took her hand in mine and squeezed it in assurance just as the doctor, Grace, Ian, and nurses arrived.
“Klaus, I’ll be by her side. You can wait by the door” Grace said softly. Her eyes met mine and I shook my head not wanting to leave my wife’s side “Niklaus, it’s in a tradition that no king or prince should see his wife in such a state. I know that you want to be by her side, and I know you’re worried about her. But this isn’t the time to argue”
I could see and hear the doctors as they spoke to Kiara about her breathing, her heart raced as she braced herself for what was to come before another cry of pain escaped her lips.
“Niklaus, if Kiara takes her last breath as a human, you know that you can’t be here. Your wolf would go wild, we can’t have that with a newborn baby in the room” Grace whispered looking me in the eye. I looked at my wife one more time to find her eyes on mine, she nodded and I smiled walking toward her and kissing her forehead.
“Take good care of her, Grace” I warned my sister who smiled and nodded. Walking out with my brother, we both stayed out the door as we listened to my wife’s continuous cries of pain. I could imagine her expression, and it didn’t help that I was able to read her mind. The pain that she was in was one that no woman could handle in normal states as she gave birth to a HUMAN baby, my beloved was carrying a hybrid inside her. Our baby had been ripping through her insides since he started developing, I could only imagine what she would be feeling.
“Stay strong for me, baby girl. It’s almost over…”
******************************
It was a while before we heard the cry of our baby “it’s a boy”
I smiled at my sister’s voice, listening to my wife’s heartbeat which was racing. Grace walked out seconds later with a smile on her face. Her arms wrapped around my neck and she hugged me tightly.
“Congratulations, Nik”
“Hey! We’re finally an uncle and aunt” Ian said smiling. He put a hand on my shoulder just as Grace pulled away and I hugged my younger brother tightly before all three of us walked inside to see my wife who was watching our baby as they got him dressed.
I smiled at my beauty and approached her. Sitting on the edge of the bed beside her, I softly removed her hair from her face which was now coated with sweat after all the efforts she pulled up.
“Congratulations, baby girl”
“Congratulations to us, Nik” Kiara smiled at me. Her smile was the widest I’ve seen in months, and it was like all the light in her eyes had returned.
The nurse approached us and smiled extending our baby to Kiara who wrapped her arms around him. Hugging him, and kissing his forehead gently. I smiled and watched for a moment my beauty who was holding our baby, thinking back to the day I brought her here. It seemed like yesterday, but we both knew that it wasn’t. The way she’s changed since then, her beauty, the love I had for her. The love she had for me, everything about her, and our relationship made my heart swell with a million feelings. The idea of her being in my arms for eternity was something that I cherished, and the fact that she accepted being mine despite everything that we’ve been through made me thank God a thousand times for making her mine.
She truly was my blessing…

“So, did you two think of a name?” Grace asked as we walked out of the palace’s terrace to show our baby. It’s been two weeks since Kiara gave birth, we’ve been calling our child baby since then, have not decided on the right name until today.
“Yes, we’ll be announcing it today”
“About time, at least we can address the child with a name” Ian muttered.
“Oh, it’s not like he was talking to you anyway. The child is barely two weeks old” Kiara sassed and Ian smirked.
“Look at the little human being all momma bear” Ian teased and Kiara laughed holding our baby to her chest.
“Well, she won’t be human for long” I winked and Ian’s eyes widened.
“Are you serious?” Ian asked me “Kiara, are you sure about this?”
“Positive, I believe that it’s about time,” she said smiling and I nodded at her. Bringing her closer to me to kiss her forehead.
The two of us walked outside, my arm wrapped around my mate’s waist as I held her close to me. My eyes spotted Prince Caspian in the crowd. The man was to be announced king once we got this settled, however, I wanted him to be here for this announcement today.
“ALL HAIL KING NIKLAUS AND QUEEN KIARA!” Mateo, one of my guards announced. The crowd bowed, and Aiden flew down to the balcony’s railing, looking down at the baby who was in Kiara’s arms. He softly nuzzled the baby’s belly before standing behind me, Kiara, and our baby. Wrapping his tail around our legs and looking at the crowd with us.
“Prince Caspian, son of King Niklaus and Queen Kiara” I announced to the crowd taking my baby from Kiara. She smiled at me and I caught sight of the two sharing a glance and Caspian’s smile widened. He was the one man who I saw worthy of having my son be named after. The man had been by my wife’s side through the whole battle, fighting by her side to ensure that she and her mother remained safe. It was something that I could never repay him for. Therefore, Kiara and I had agreed to name our child after him.
“ALL HAIL PRINCE CASPIAN!”
“ALL HAIL PRINCE CASPIAN!”
