Chapter 96 Chapter 96 Alex POV
Chapter 96 Chapter 96 Alex POV
I don't have to look up to know they are both looking at me. Picking at my food I look over at my parents, they seem so happy. Dad is kissing the side of mom's head and our eyes meet. He smiles at me but I scowl back. I am still pretending to be mad at him, I am mad at him. The ugly little red monster is back, I am so mad. Confused too, I touched Blaze and River and I felt the sparks. My grandfather explained fated mates to me more in detail than dad did. They all want to know why I am asking. Keeping secrets is my specialty, I am not telling that Blaze and River are my mates. These feelings I have for them are just....not normal. I don't even know them, how could I be in love with them. Maybe it's not love just lust or whatever.
My eyes scan the backyard and then I lock in with Blaze. I want to look away but I can't, he gives me a half smile. Images of him unzipping himself fill me, when he did that last week I lost my damn mind, it took all the reason I have not to chase after them. I wanted to shift too, I held onto the damn log for dear life. I can see the little happy trail from his belly button down to the top of his boxers. OMG, I am aroused, I can smell myself. Blaze has a huge grin on his face, I watch him elbow River.
I get up and tug at Tanner, I want to go in the pool. He pulls my hand back and leans in to whisper. "Don't pull me if you are not going to speak to me!" Then he pushed me away. The sting from his rejection is all over my face, Everyone is staring at me. Aidan mindlinks me "You ok? Do you want me to beat his ass?". I look at my brother and laugh, rolling my eyes, he would never get in a fight, I don't expect him to drop his best friend because we don't work out.
I put my plate in the kitchen sink and head back out to the pool. I stop at the edge and step out of my shorts, oversize shirt over my head, I catch Blaze and River stare at me. Looking over at Tanner, he is looking at them watching me. I dive in, Trista jumps in then Elena, Clara, Kitty and Kylie too. We all surface up, I lean up against the pool wall. Water underneath me starts to move in a circular motion, around my legs, between my legs. It reaches my sweet spot, slowly swirling around. Trista is next to me watching my face.
"It's River!" she says nodding toward him. "He does that to all the girls at swim practice!"
I look over at him and watch him spin his hand. I feel the pressure build not breaking eye contact with him, pink touches his face and he looks away. He is brave enough to do it but not brave enough to watch me unravel. I move before moans leave my lips.
Walking out of the pool, I put my clothes on still soaking wet. "Alex, dry off first!" says my mom, I look at her give her one of my asshole smiles. I plop down on the loveseat by the fireplace and grab my leather bound notebook and pencil. I am drawing them again, I can't stop it. I rip the page out and crumple it, tossing it in the fire. I love these birch trees, I am going to draw those.
"She is still not talking to you?" asks dad's cousin Bentley.
"Alex is not talking to anyone!" my brother adds.
"She will when she is ready!" says dad.
I don't plan to either, I won't speak a word all summer, it will be my personal best. I raise my hand and flip my brother off. "Language!" yells my mom and everyone starts to laugh. Looking back down at my drawing I continue to add details to the tree bark. Using my fingers to smudge the pencil lines, giving it depth. All the girls come and sit with me after they get out of the pool. I snap my notebook closed and hold it in my lap. Looking up at the stars, I listen to the girls talk about school, boys and other random things. You cannot see this many stars in New York, a cool breeze washes over me. The fire crackles and little hearts appear.
Pursing my lips together I look over at Blaze, they just can't help but show off. Fairy and Werewolf is such a wild combination, dangerous too.
"They really have it out for you. Both of them!" says Elena.
"It's because she is new!" adds Trista in a condescending way.
I shrug my shoulders even though I know they felt what I did. The sparks, the need, no, the want of being close to them, the desire. It's odd to feel that way about someone you don't know. Tanner picks my legs up, sitting down he places them on his lap.
"I am sorry for being a jerk. I miss you and I wish you would talk to me."
I shrug my shoulders at him too. Irritation passes over his face. I am pushing buttons.
"Seriously! Get over your daddy issues!" he spits pushing my legs off him, he stands up and walks away.
I roll my eyes half hooded and Elena bursts into laughter. I honestly don't care about Tanner, as soon as I laid eyes on those two something inside me snapped. Aidan tries to comfort him but Tanner pushes him away.
Someone snatches my notebook from my lap. I was so busy watching Tanner, I didn't see Blaze and River come up behind me. Blaze has my notebook and opens it, flipping the pages softly trying not to damage them.
"You are brave! I would never look in there!" laughs my brother. He knows better.
River and Blaze both turn red when they get to my nude charcoal drawings and slap the book closed. I grab my notebook and push them apart walking between them.
"I bet I can make you talk!" says Blaze leaning into me, putting his arm around my waist. "I bet I can get you to beg!"
I burst into a belly laugh, there is so much I can say. I grab his shoulder continuing to laugh, then I kiss his cheek turning toward River, I plant one oh his face too. Fire ignites within me, walking away is hard, I struggle against the bond.
Walking as fast as my feet will carry me, I get to my room, shut the door and lock it. Sliding down to the floor I try to catch my breath, clutching my book against my chest.
