Chapter 80 Sacrifice and Salvation
Chapter 80 Sacrifice and Salvation
Donald’s hand tightens around mine, his jaw tense. “Clara… whatever you’re thinking don’t”
“I have to,” I interrupt, voice trembling but resolute. “The curse isn’t gone yet. I can feel it lingering, feeding off the Shadow Alpha’s defeat, clinging to this land, this pack. If I don’t finish it… it will return.”
Donald’s eyes widen. “Your life… you can’t”
“I can and I will,” I whisper, pulling my hand from his. The Black Wolf inside me stirs, senses flaring, every nerve alive with raw energy. I feel the curse a dark pulse in the earth, in the trees, in every wolf that fought tonight. It’s alive. And it’s feeding.
Donald growls low, furious and terrified. “Clara, don’t do this alone!”
“I won’t be alone.” I shift fully, letting the Black Wolf surge, light and shadow intertwining in my fur. “You’re with me. The pack is with me. The bond… it carries us together.”
He snarls, stepping beside me, fully shifted, muscles taut, eyes glowing gold with determination. “Then we end this. Together.”
I focus, placing both paws firmly on the ground. Energy surges beneath my claws, the heartbeat of the earth echoing through me. The curse writhes like a living thing, dark and toxic, lashing out in fear. I close my eyes, letting it feel me letting it know that it has no power here.
“Clara…” Donald whispers through the bond. “I’m here. Feel me with you.”
I inhale sharply, drawing in the Black Wolf’s power, my flame, my life force, letting it pulse outward. I extend my consciousness to the pack, to every wolf who fought, to the land itself. Every heartbeat, every shred of fear, every lingering shadow I reach for it, pulling it into myself.
Pain erupts. The curse resists. It bites, twists, claws at me. My vision blurs. My fur ripples unnaturally. My claws dig into the ground, digging into the earth itself, trying to anchor myself.
Donald snarls, biting the air, leaping to strike at the residual shadows that lash toward me. “Clara! Focus! I’ve got them!”
I can feel the pack rallying wolves leaping into the fray, biting, tearing, distracting the remaining corruption. Liam, the betas, every healer they shield me, giving me space, buying me precious seconds.
The Black Wolf within me roars, gold and black flame flashing through my eyes. My life force hums, burning, pulsing, intertwining with the curse. It’s a duel, an exchange of essence. I push, drawing the darkness into me, purifying, burning, cleansing, until it cannot resist.
“I… can’t… hold it…” I gasp, staggering on trembling legs.
Donald crashes into my side, pressing his shoulder against mine. “You’re stronger than you think! I won’t let you fall!”
I look at him eyes blazing. “I don’t want to fall. But… I will if it saves them.”
“Clara no!”
I close my eyes and release a howl not just mine, not just Donald’s, but the pack’s. A harmonic pulse of energy sweeps outward, carrying my essence, my life force, every ounce of power I have. The curse screams, writhing, trying to escape, but the wave is absolute.
The shadows twist violently, black and green energy melting under the gold-black fire of the Black Wolf. I feel them ripping from the earth, from the air, from every wolf it touched, being drawn into me, neutralized, purified.
Donald shouts, teeth bared. “Clara! You can do this!”
Pain claws at me, sharp and white-hot, but I push harder, pouring myself fully into the wave. I can feel the curse leaving me its final resistance melting. It’s gone. The land breathes. The wolves breathe. The darkness is purged.
And then stillness.
I collapse to my knees, panting, every muscle trembling. My fur is singed, my claws glowing faintly, but the Black Wolf inside me hums softly, alive, steady, in control.
Donald collapses beside me, pressing his head against mine. “Clara… you did it. The curse… it’s gone. You… saved everything.”
I exhale shakily, letting my energy settle. “We did it… together. I couldn’t have done this alone. Not really.”
He nuzzles me, pride and relief radiating from him. “You risked everything… for all of us. And you still stand.”
I glance across the battlefield. Wolves rise, cautious at first, then erupt into howls of relief and joy. Survivors run toward us, panting, trembling, eyes wide with awe. The pack is whole. Alive. Free.
Liam steps forward, bowing low. “Luna Clara… you’ve done what no healer, no Alpha, no warrior could have done alone. You’ve ended the curse. You’ve saved the pack, the land, and every wolf who lives on it.”
I feel my chest tighten with emotion. “I just… followed what I knew was right. I had the Black Wolf inside me… and the pack’s faith. That’s all I needed.”
Donald tilts my head up with a paw, eyes burning gold with pride. “No, Clara. You are more than we ever imagined. You carried us all… and you are our Luna, our Black Wolf, our healer, and our heart. Forever.”
I lean into him, letting the warmth of his presence ground me. The Black Wolf inside me hums softly, content, steady. The curse is gone. The Shadow Alpha is defeated. The pack stands united.
For the first time since this war began, I allow myself to truly relax. The sacrifice I feared… was worth it. And I am still here, stronger than ever, alive, fully awake, fully myself.
“We did it,” I whisper.
Donald presses his forehead to mine. “No… you did it. You gave everything. And now… we can finally rebuild.”
I nod, feeling the bond, the pack, the land, the Black Wolf inside me all of it alive, steady, unbroken.
This war is over. The curse is ended. And I… am the Luna.
