Chapter 65 Don't Fight, I Hate Violence
Quinn's POV
I can guess what happened after Grayson shouted at Owen. Yes, a fight.
"How dare you hug her!" Owen yelled and ran quickly towards Grayson. He pushed Grayson.
As a result, our bodies were pushed to the side but Grayson protected me from being hit by a tree on the side of the road.
"Stop! Please stop!" I shouted as loud as I could. Not only that, I also broke away from Grayson and stretched my arms between them. "Why are you the one who's angry, huh! I'm the one who should be angry because you messed up my search!"
Grayson was about to take me behind his body but I immediately moved my body away from him. "No, don't touch me. I didn't give you permission!"
Owen pointed at Grayson. "See? So don't put your hands anywhere on her, damn it!"
"You too Owen! Stop!" I shouted in his face. "I'm giving him a warning doesn't mean I'm giving you permission to take his place."
Now Owen was backing away too. So now I was in the middle of two equally stubborn Alphas.
Then I looked at Grayson sharply. "What the hell were you doing? You wanted to kill me on purpose because I hurt your pride?"
Grayson took one step forward and I stretched my hand forward. "Stop! I haven't given you permission to come near me again, Grayson. Remember, our contract is over so I'm now not your employee and you're not my boss that I have to obey."
"Yeah, that’s right Quinn. You should be firm like that. Make him understand his place in your life is no longer important."
I fast-forwarded to Owen and landed a slap on his cheek. "Will you shut up? You think you're so much better than him, Owen? No, you don't. You're making a mess of my life just the same. So shut up!"
Owen touched his cheek. He also reached out his hand to touch me but I took a few steps back. "Quinn, I'm sorry if I did something wrong. But please don't believe what he says."
"If, you say?" I laughed. I didn't care anymore if Grayson knew what an asshole Owen was. "You did wrong, not if anymore. You cheated on me and now you're using my brother so you can keep me with you. Of all those things, is that not a mistake, Owen?"
"Asshole! You used Dylan?" Grayson had already jumped on Owen without me being able to stop him. He punched Owen in the face until there was a crunchy bone cracking sound. Whereupon Owen held his bloody nose.
Seeing that, I pulled Grayson's arm, taking him away from Owen. However, I didn't want Dylan's search to turn into rescuing these two men to the hospital.
"What are you doing!" I snapped at Grayson. "Did I tell you to hit him? Stay out of it, Grayson!"
"How can I not interfere, Quinn! You are my fated mate, you are mine. And I'm just trying to protect mine!"
Grayson's words successfully left me speechless. Although it wasn't the first time I'd heard it, but somehow it felt like it was said so seriously and earnestly, it also sounded like reality.
"Fated mate?" Owen still laughs. "You want to use the old method I once used? Too bad, you're on the wrong foot, young master Talon."
Grayson grabbed both my shoulders. His eyes looked at me expectantly. "I know it must be hard to accept this truth after you were betrayed by him. But I won't lie about something this fatal just because I want you to come back to me, Quinn."
With all my might, I slapped Grayson. After which I heard Owen's laughter getting louder.
I thought I was going to get a slap back, but instead Grayson grabbed both my hands and brought them to his cheeks. "It's okay if slapping me makes you feel better. Go for it."
"Are you outta your mind?" I pulled my hand but Grayson kept holding it. Even now he moved my hand to slap him without my permission.
"Stop Grayson!"
Grayson didn't listen to me, he kept at it until the corner of his lip was bleeding.
"Stop or I will completely disappear from your life forever!"
And finally after that threat, Grayson stopped slapping himself. He also finally let go of my bloodied hand slowly. "Now has it relieved you?"
"Relieved you say?" I clenched my fist. "What exactly were you thinking, Grayson? A few days ago you walked away from me because you thought I betrayed you. But now you're asking me to come back. What exactly do you want? Aren't you satisfied..." I looked behind me where Owen was. Then I pulled Grayson into his car and locked it so Owen couldn't hear us. "Aren't you satisfied with playing with my feelings? Not only did you hurt my body, you want to hurt my feelings too?"
Grayson caught both of my hands. "I'm sorry, I'm really sorry if I was rude all this time. Please forgive me, Quinn."
I turned my face away. No doubt seeing Grayson's face again made my heart and body react violently. I can't even control my body why it's like this.
"Give me a chance to explain to you."
I kept looking out the window, looking at Owen who was groping his face across the street.
"First, I didn't know you were going to cross suddenly. Second, I didn't come here to brag like Owen did. Third, I truly apologize for all my mistakes, all of them without exception."
No, I must not fall for Grayson. Even if he apologizes now directly, it won't make me just melt for what he did to me.
"Fourth, Kelly is not my fated mate even though she is my first love. She's just my childhood friend and when it comes to first loves, I think everyone has one. Including you too, right?"
Yes, I had a first love too and it was that first love that destroyed me, Owen.
"Fifth and lastly, I came here to pick you up, to take you to meet Dylan again."
I widened my eyes. How could Grayson know about me looking for Dylan when no one had told him?
"You might be confused right now. But it was Dylan who gave me a clue about your whereabouts. And he's at my house right now."
