Chapter 46 I Won't Betray Him
Quinn’s POV
I’m really happy Frost Maple won this game again and Grayson was the top scorer once more.
He played fiercely. He didn't give his opponents a moment's rest. Even when Dylan and I were watching, we almost screamed when we saw how Grayson scored. It was incredible.
Seeing both the men who mean the most to me happy, fills my heart.
I also want to meet Grayson as soon as possible to give him a gift, something valuable that he won’t forget. Ah, I can’t wait for him to come back because he promised he would come again after the game.
Tonight might be the most meaningful night for us. Because I plan to tell Grayson how I feel. Not by saying it directly, but by doing something, by giving him a gift.
Consider me overconfident. But after thinking about it all day and remembering the days that have passed, I think Grayson is also interested in me. I think Grayson doesn't just see me as his co-worker, but more than that. Moreover, he also said that after meeting me, he never slept with other women.
I mean, he has enough money to hire any woman he wants, like he used to, but he doesn't do that and instead only sleeps with me. Isn't that a sign too?
Because, after all, I'm sure that before Grayson met me, he could fulfil his superstition with other women because he didn't just start playing ice hockey yesterday, but has been doing it for years. So if he says he only sleeps with me because only I can fulfill his superstition, I think that reason is no longer accurate. I think there's another reason behind it, and I believe that reason is because he's interested in me too.
But I'm also nervous. I'm curious about Grayson's reaction when he sees my gift. The gift I'm going to give him is a black hockey stick, his favorite color, with hints of orange, yellow, and blue, the official colors of the Frost Maple team.
Well, even though it's not as expensive as his other things, I hope at least he'll accept it because it was made with sincerity. Coincidentally, it finished yesterday. So today it can be sent here. And now it's in my hospital room. Then I'll give it to him later when he comes.
Hmm, maybe I should also give an extra gift? Like—
Thud.
Ouch, I bumped into someone and fell. Luckily, my hands managed to catch my body, so my casted leg didn't hit the floor first.
“Oh my gosh, I’m so sorry, Miss. I really didn’t mean to.”
Recognizing the voice, I quickly looked up.
Sure enough, it was the White Tiger manager again.
Even though I had refused his offer that time, this time I didn’t refuse his help because he should have helped me after making me fall.
He looked surprised at my leg. “What happened to you, Ms. Roux?”
I took a deep breath, trying not to get angry and to be as friendly as possible. “I just fell.”
“Oh, that’s too bad. You probably can’t treat Grayson today because of your condition. But by the way, this is an expensive, private hospital. Did Grayson come here to get your treatment before the game?”
Here we go again with that topic! I’m really fed up.
Actually, I also wanted to tell Grayson about this problem. I wanted to be honest that there was a White Tiger manager who wanted to recruit me and I refused. But because he was too busy and because I thought it wasn't the right time to say it while we were having sex, I hadn't had the chance to explain it yet.
But seeing how this man came to see me again, I think it's better to tell Grayson tomorrow after the game. After all, the sooner the better before any misunderstandings arise.
"Ah, sorry, sorry. I didn't mean to pry. But considering you're not exactly rich, I think it's a bit impossible to stay in a hospital this expensive, Ms. Roux. So what's on my mind is that maybe Grayson deliberately paid for the room so he could continue to see you and get treatment but also avoid the media because security is very tight at this hospital."
I rolled my eyes. After hearing his explanation, I no longer felt hesitant to show my discomfort. “Even if that’s true, what business do you have coming here, Martin?”
“Goodness, you still remember my name?”
Of course, you stupid! I’ll remember the name of someone as strange as you!
You already know I work for Grayson and Frost Maple, but you're still trying to recruit me. What else would you call that but stupid?
“Oh, about your earlier question, I came to this hospital to pick up Hanz’s medical check-up results. He’s the new player I told you about who wants you to be his therapist. And coincidentally, I ran into you too.” He laughed sarcastically. “Don’t you think this is fate, Ms. Roux?”
What fate!
I forced a smile. “Just a coincidence.”
"Oh, yes..." Suddenly, he took out his wallet and pulled out a small 3.5 x 2-inch piece of paper, then handed it to me. "This is a business card. If you change your mind in the future and suddenly want to work with our team, you can call that number. I guarantee it won't take 3 seconds to answer your call, Ms. Roux."
Honestly, I had no intention of taking the business card. I just didn’t want to keep something I wouldn’t use.
But rudely, this man slipped the business card into the pocket of my hospital gown. Which made me reflexively slap his hand. “Hey, if you cross the line, I’ll report you to the police. Do you understand?”
Instead of answering me, he just smiled strangely and walked away, waving his hand. “Just call the number on the business card. He’s really waiting for your call.”
I sighed heavily. I took the business card out of my pocket and intended to throw it in the trash. But I was surprised to find that it wasn’t his business card, it was Hanz’s, the Alpha werewolf who would be playing for White Tiger.
