Chapter 164 Not Too Late To Change Your Mind

Chapter 164 Not Too Late To Change Your Mind
Quinn's POV

"Grayson will kill me if he finds out you're with me."

I glanced sharply at Owen. "Why are you afraid of Grayson now? Didn't you always want to beat him?"

Owen ran his fingers through his hair. "That's if he started the problem. Now the situation is different. I'm the one looking for trouble. But that doesn't mean I'm afraid of him."

I clicked my tongue in annoyance and chose to look out the window.

"Quinn, you have to listen. I'm not afraid of Grayson, okay?"

"Yeah, whatever. Besides, if you're really afraid, it's none of my business."

"If I was afraid, I wouldn't have brought you with me right now."

"You just can't refuse my request because you're trying to make up for your past mistakes. Am I right?"

"That's not it, Quinnstellar."

I immediately pointed my finger at Owen. "Don't call me that nickname again! Are you stupid?"

Owen sighed. "By the way, are you sure your mother is there? You didn't even tell me you had met her, even though I was the one who told you where she was."

"So you think I owe you and have to update you on my search for my mother?"

"Quinn, I'm not demanding anything from you. I'm just—"

“Owen, if you can’t keep quiet and keep cornering me, you better drop me off here. I’ll find another ride to get there and you can go home.”

“It’s not like that, Quinn.” Owen sighed heavily. “Okay, I won’t bring up Grayson again and I still want to take you there. But at least tell me you’re sure your mother is waiting there?”

"I don't know." I looked out the window again.

But my answer was honest. I really didn't know if my mother was there or not. I just felt like I had to go there to look for her, not somewhere else.

"It looks like new construction has already started. And maybe your old house has been demolished."

I sighed. "It's not like I never lived there. Besides, it was the building that was demolished, not the relationship."

"Because your relationship with your mother was already broken even before you broke it?"

I threw whatever I could grab at Owen. "Watch what you say before I change my mind."

"I'm sorry. But if you ask her to be a donor, are you sure she'll agree?"

My patience was at its limit, so I finally turned on the music and played it at full volume.

I didn't know, so I didn't answer. I was just trying and exploring every possibility for Dylan. And if my mother had a heart and wasn't just bragging when she promised me, then most likely she would be willing to be a donor for Dylan.

Maybe she would also ask Dad. Maybe Dylan and I would finally see our father for the first time. And maybe the misunderstanding between my family and the Grayson family would be resolved after this.

Oh, I hoped so much for this.

I hoped that with Mom's return, she could fix many things in our lives. Even if not immediately, at least she had the intention to do so.

"Quinn." Owen turned down the music.

When I was about to turn it back on, he covered the screen with his hand. "If your parents can't help with this, who will you ask for help? Have you looked for other alternatives? I can help you if you let me."

"Grayson has helped me," I replied immediately.

"Does he know where he can easily find a donor? I have some connections that—"

"Watch the road!" I shouted. Owen almost crashed into the car in front of us.

"Isn't that Grayson's car? Oh shit!"

It was. It was Grayson's car!

Oh my, I didn't think he would find me this quickly!

What now? Grayson couldn't possibly meet my mother. I also couldn't possibly delay meeting my mother because Dylan really needed her. Oh my gosh, what should I do now?

"Do you want me to stop or continue?"

"I don't know! Help me think!"

Owen slowed down the car. "Let me guess. You haven't told him that you've met your mother?"

"Because I can't. You don't understand, but I can't let them meet right now, Owen."

"Then how are you going to bring your mother to meet Dylan without Grayson finding out? That's impossible, Quinn."

I squeezed my hair in frustration. There was no guarantee that my mother would keep quiet if she met Grayson. I was worried that she would reveal what had happened in the past.

And after that, I was also worried that Grayson would tell his parents about my mother. And if that happened, then a big dispute could arise between the parents.

And creating new problems at this moment was not the right choice.

"If I may give you some advice, it's better if we still go there. After all, you don't know if your mother is there or not, right? So let's go there first. We'll figure out what to do next once we get there. What do you think?"

I nodded. "Okay. But there's one thing you have to remember, don't get involved or argue with Grayson. Do you get it?"

"Yes."

Finally, Owen drove the car back to its original route, which was to my old house. Yes, that's where I was sure my mother was.

Why did I choose that place out of all places? Because I was sure that since that was where she left us, she would also meet us there again. It couldn't be the subway station because that place didn't mean anything to us.

Grayson might also soon realize, or might already have realized, that he was heading to my old house.

And if my mother was there and appeared when we arrived, then that was a fate I couldn't prevent.

Perhaps this search was also destined to bring Grayson to meet my mother.

Now I can only hope that Grayson can keep this secret and not tell his parents until Dylan finds a suitable donor.

This is when I see the sincerity of Grayson's love. Because if he is serious about me, then he will understand my difficult position here.
