Chapter 138 Which Pack Does She Come From?
Grayson's POV
"Can you guys sit down? Please don't make the situation more tense," I said to my parents.
The two of them, who hadn't let go of each other's hands since earlier, finally sat down.
"Okay, so I'll explain Dylan's condition," I said.
"Your mom said Dylan is sick and has to undergo regular treatment at the hospital. He also uses a wheelchair. Is his illness serious?"
I sighed. "Yes. That's why Quinn is working hard to make sure Dylan gets the best care possible."
Mom suddenly stood up and put her hands on her hips. "And you're not helping him?"
Dad then pulled Mom back down to sit. "Let Grayson finish it."
"Okay, thank you, Dad. The answer is, I am helping him. But right now, that help is only financial and moral. I want to do more than that. Especially after you mentioned Aunt Helen. It made me think of trying it on Dylan," I explained.
"You mean trying her healing abilities?" asked Dad.
"Yes. I don't know if it will work or not. But what if we try?"
"It will be difficult, Grayson. But there's no harm in trying. At least it can reduce our guilt towards Quinn," explained Mom.
Dad nodded. "Your mom is right. I can arrange it for Dylan."
I rubbed my face. "Goddess. Thank you so much."
Mom patted my shoulder. "No need to thank us. It's nothing compared to your sacrifice for Quinny."
"Hey, Mom, only I can use that nickname," I interjected, not accepting it.
Mom chuckled contentedly while Dad shook his head.
Honestly, we rarely had warm conversations like this anymore. And since they showed their true colors, things have gone back to the way they were.
I'm grateful for that.
"By the way, Grayson, besides Dylan, we also wanna talk about Quinn," said Dad.
"What about Quinn?"
"She’s not from the same pack as us. It's impossible for one pack to have two individuals with healing abilities," explained Mom.
For some reason, that immediately triggered something in me and I almost stood up. "Don't tell me that's the reason you don't approve of our relationship."
"Of course not, son." Mom took my hand. "We have truly accepted Quinn. Thanks to her, you were able to come home. She was the only one who could do that after we tried everything else.
Besides, Quinn also has a sincere heart. And you should know that not everyone can have that. So that's why we think Quinn is a suitable partner for you, aside from the fact that you two are a fated mate."
"She’s right. Quinn does have a big heart. But even so, you must never disappoint her. Do you understand, Grayson?"
I raised my hand respectfully. "Understood, capt!"
Mom then clapped her hands once. "Okay, back to the original discussion. Do you think we need to find out where Quinn comes from?"
"I don't care where she comes from. I don't wanna dig up her unpleasant past," I replied.
"Aren't you curious, Grayson?" asked Dad.
I was actually curious. But if looking into it would make Quinn uncomfortable, it was better not to.
I sighed softly. "It's just that if you want to investigate, make sure Quinn doesn't find out because I don't want her to be bothered by it."
"Yeah, no problem. We have someone we can rely on for that," Mom replied.
Thank goodness for that. But there was still something that made me curious. That's why I didn't go after Quinn and was still here.
"And about Dylan's medical expenses, we'll cover them, son," Dad decided.
"No, I'll take care of it," I protested.
"We're responsible from now on," Dad insisted.
"Your dad is right, Grayson. Let us cover Dylan's medical expenses. You don't have to tell Quinn if you don't want her to refuse. But please let us do something for him too. Okay?"
I sighed for the umpteenth time. "All right. And about Quinn having the same ability as Aunt Helen, could Quinn also use it on Dylan?"
"We'll find out. It looks like we need to introduce Quinn to Aunt Helen. We need to arrange this meeting. Because as we know, Aunt Helen is very busy. She's not someone you can meet anytime."
"Yes, just like you, Dad."
Mom chuckled. "But if Quinn can use her abilities, I think that would be great. I think if it works, it will make Quinn very relieved and proud because she can help her brother out of his suffering."
This time I agreed with Mom. I mean, after the sacrifices she made for Dylan, Quinn would definitely be very happy if, with her new abilities, she could cure Dylan. It would definitely be something she would never forget.
"Oh, sorry, am I interrupting you guys?"
I reflexively stood up when I heard Quinn's voice.
How long had she been there? I hoped she hadn't heard our plan earlier.
"Quinny, how did it go? Is Dylan angry?" I approached her.
Quinn sighed. That made me think Dylan might be angry.
But then Quinn smiled. "Everything's fine. Dylan understands. He'll be here soon after he uses the bathroom."
I immediately hugged her. "Oh, thank goodness. I'm relieved to hear that."
"Dylan is mature enough to understand everything. But I also feel bad hiding Stella's message from him."
"That's the right choice. Imagine if Dylan knew now, I'm afraid he would try everything to achieve it."
"That's exactly what I'm worried about. Even though Dylan is easy to understand, he's just as stubborn as me."
"Now you admit it, Quinny?"
Quinn pursed her lips. "You know you're just as bad."
"We're all stubborn."
Quinn hit my arm. "Promise me you won't blurt this out in front of Dylan, okay?"
"Yes, I'll remember that."
I also hoped that my parents wouldn't blurt out their investigation in front of Quinn. Because I didn't want Quinn to avoid me again or even leave because of it.
I don't want Quinn to think we're investigating her because we can't accept her. Because that's not the case at all. This is all for her own good.
If this investigation can reunite Quinn with her parents, then I think this secret plan will be worth it.
