Chapter 155 EPILOGUE

A NEW DAWN

Ophelia

Four years later.

Luna isn't the quiet newborn I once held in the ruins. She's four now. Stubborn, bright, already too much like her father when she digs her heels in. For a while we thought the power inside her had gone quiet. Vera called it dormant potential. We let ourselves believe the danger had passed.
Then the sleepwalking started.

It began on full moons. We'd find her standing in the courtyard barefoot, eyes open but empty, speaking words none of us knew. Crescent marks showed up on the walls wherever her small hands touched. The pack got uneasy. People whispered. Some called it a curse. Others said the old blood was waking up again.

The breaking point came the night half the younger wolves dropped mid-training. Their eyes flickered black for a few terrifying seconds before clearing. Luna had been sleepwalking near the old training grounds at the exact same moment.

The connection was undeniable.

Vera and Eve searched every record left standing. What they found was cruel.

The power in Luna couldn't stay sealed forever. Left alone, it would spill out and wake every trace of the old serum still hiding in the allied packs' bloodlines. Both paths forward were brutal. Either we stripped the power from Luna, which could kill her or leave her wolfless, or I took the full force into myself and risked becoming something close to what Morwen had been.

Choose my daughter or the pack.

I refused both at first. I searched for a third way until my body gave out. In the end, Luna made the choice for us. One night she walked into the ritual chamber on her own, still half asleep, and said in a voice that didn't belong to a four-year-old, "Mommy, I don't want to hurt them."

We did the ritual.

Eve gave her blood without hesitating. I held Luna through every scream. Kai had to hold me back when the pain got too bad and I tried to stop it. At the last moment, part of the old power tried to enter me. I refused it. The sealed force blew outward and knocked every wolf in the territory out cold for several minutes.

When we woke up, the power was gone from Luna.
She's still hybrid. Still ours. But the ancient thing that lived inside her is quiet now. The serum across the territories died with it. No more black eyes. No more risk.

Luna still sleepwalks sometimes on full moons. Now she only makes it as far as our bedroom door, then crawls into bed between Kai and me. The curse, if it ever was one, is broken.

Elias is still alive.

He survived the fortress collapse, broken, stripped of his wolf. He's been in a Council cell ever since. Kai visited him once. I didn't go. When he came back his face gave nothing away.

"He asked if I hated him," Kai told me that night. "I said I didn't. I just didn't have anything left to give him."

Elias stays in that cell. He'll die there. That's the only mercy he gets.

We confirmed Silas died in the labs under the Citadel, just like the records said. The man we fought had been a shell running on borrowed power and old code.

Cassie and Damien found each other slowly.

It started with arguments over patrol routes and supply lists. Then late-night talks on the training grounds. By the end of the second year, Damien stopped looking at me with that quiet, unfinished pain and started looking at Cassie like she was the only solid thing in the room. They sealed their bond under the spring moon. Cassie still bosses him around in public. He lets her. It works for them.

Eve stayed.

She's Luna's favorite aunt, the one who teaches her to throw a knife before anyone teaches her to braid hair. She still flinches from softness sometimes. But she's learning. The pack calls her family now, no hesitation.

There's peace between the packs.

Borders hold. The old fear of the serum is gone. Young wolves grow up learning the real history instead of the cleaned-up version the elders used to tell. We don't announce ourselves to the human world. Not yet. But we don't live like a secret that has to be erased anymore either.
On a clear evening in early autumn, I stand on the balcony of the rebuilt pack house. Kai's arms are around me. Luna is asleep against his chest, one small hand fisted in his shirt. The forest below is quiet. Safe.

"You think it's really over?" I ask.

Kai's voice is low against my hair. "This part is. Whatever comes next, we face it together."

I believe him.

For the first time in a long time, the future doesn't feel like a threat.

It feels like a beginning.

THE END.
