I have never been as glad for my quick, reflexive response as I did at this very moment.

The moment her lips pressed against mine, my wolf was quick to step forward, taking over with no warnings whatsoever, not that I would stop him really. I pulled away from her, my hand instinctively moving to take a hold of her neck and quickly moving us with my wolf speed from where we could be in hindsight of humans or the cameras in the hallway.

In a blind spot, I slammed her against the wall, my hold around her neck tightening as my eyes flashed, my wolf taking over to speak. “How dare a lowly wolf try to put any claim on me?” I growled, my face inches away from hers.

I watched as she squirmed, clawing at my hands, trying to try them off her but her strength stands nothing against me pathetically. Her eyes stung with unshed tears and all red. “I am sorry,” She wheezed, barely able to utter anything as I cut off airflow to her, her face color changing. “I am sorry…Alpha…” She said, her voice barely above a whisper.

I clenched my jaw hard, and then said through gritted teeth; “I could snap your head right now and nothing would happen, you know that?” It was not just a threat, for the shit she is trying to pull, I could kill her and no one would dare to question me.

And judging from the way her eyes widened in fear, she knew that as well. She nodded, her hands over mine around her neck weakening as she continued to squirm.

But I only lifted her off the ground so her feet were dangling, pressing on the pressure point on her neck, and if I pressed any harder, she would drop on the floor a lifeless mess. But I did not.

“If you dare try to pull this shit on me again,” My voice dropped into deadly whisper, promise coating my every word. “I would make sure you never take a single breath of life again. Am I clear? This should be the last time you will reach out to me over such nonsense. I am only letting you off this once in consideration of your past support to this pack. But there better not be a second time.” It is my fault for being far too lenient with her and others too I guess.

It made them think they could pull such shits with me and walk away freely.

She nodded, though with great difficulty.

But it was not enough. I wanted to hear her say it with her mouth. So, I loosened my hold around her neck slightly just so she could have enough air to take and respond.

The moment the pressure reduced, she sucked in a deep, greedy breath.

“Am I clear?” I repeated, my eyes narrowed in slits.

She nodded once again, more frantically. “Crystal clear, Alpha.” She sniffed, her eyes bloodshot and glossy. “It will not happen again.” The usual ego and she carried herself with was no where in sight when she responded.

And instead all that was left is a wolf cowering—quite literally I could hear her wolf’s whimper as it cowered away in the presence of its Alpha.

I pulled my hand away from her neck, letting her drop on the floor.

She hunched forward, caressing her neck with one hand while the other held her in place on the ground, her head bowed and her body hunched over, a sign of surrender.

I crouched in front of her, my eyes remaining in slits, my voice an octave lower due to my wolf’s presence when we both said at the same time, our voices echoing in warning. “And let it stick in your head that Lara is your Luna. The next time you think of approaching her, do so with respect. You better not say anything wrong to her or you will face the consequences.”

This time around, I did not stay to hear her response. Instead, I unfolded back to my full length, then turned around and made my way back to the elevator without looking back. Once in it, I pressed the button that would take me back to the penthouse, trying to calm myself before I returned to Lara.

By the time I had returned to the penthouse and walked back into our room, I was considerably much calmer than I was earlier. But I did not get back in bed with Lara immediately. I made a stop by the ensuite first, brushing my teeth again and trying to get rid of the feeling of Savanna’s lips on me.

I was trying to erase every trace of it for real if I could. And only when I felt satisfied did I make my way back to her, slidding back in bed with her. She stirred at the movement, turning around so she was facing me, and then her eyes fluttered open momentarily though still heavy lidded.

“Killian?” She whispered in question, her lips pressed forward like a kid.

I hummed in confirmation, sliding one of my arms under her head while using my other hand to pull her closer to me. “I am here. Go back to sleep baby. I am here with you.” I cooed, bringing her head to rest on my chest while I patted down her hair with my other hand, my lips brushing her forehead to leave a kiss there.

She did not say anything. She only hummed in response and buried her face further into my chest if that were possible, subconsciously taking in my scent and I did the same with her, taking her scent from her hair, and it calmed me down. I fell asleep to her scent.
