Chapter 11 origin of the great light

Dawn has arrived as they prepare for some weapons to take, they dressed up like a warriors. Niffa in her braided tail hair match with her white sweat shirt and black pants as she put on her long dark boots then she grabbed her bow and arrow.

“Still stick to that bow and arrow huh,” Rico said as he put on his long dark boots, he had the same outfit like Niffa but he put on his dark cape looking mysterious like before. He pull the huge tool box under the desk.

“Are we going to get all of that?” Niffa ask as she watch Rico grab one of the sword as he wipe the dust from it.

“No, I’ll just get one sword.” Rico pulled a green cape from the box as Rico put it around embracing her from behind. Niffa was shocked as she felt the burn on her cheeks and the pound on her chest.

“Don’t get flattered. I just want you to wear the cape that your mother gave you,” He said as he walk back to the tool box and sharpened the swords.

“I’m not flattered, but thank you I thought I lost the cape,” she said as she look her reflection from the clear window. She saw the logo which represents Aldon, the design is a leaves circled around a flaming sword embroidered on it.

“Is everyone ready?” Merfoy said approaching them as he was dressed the same pure as white.

“Where is Maru?” Rico asked then they suddenly heard a noise coming from the balcony. They quickly run to see it. They saw Maru laughing as he control small pace of winds around the birds chirping and playing in front of him.

“I never thought I can actually do this,” Maru said as they can see the happiness in his face that Rico didn’t see from the past years they were together in Veroma.

“You can do even more,” Merfoy said as Maru followed them from behind. They gathered around as the three place their right palm in front, Merfoy place his palm above their hands as he snap his fingers and in just a blink of an eye they were standing in front of the Thamali royalties’. The town people who are walking around were surprise to see their sudden appearance. They bow down greeting the king and queen as the royalties were so confuse from what just happened. They can see the grief from their faces longing to see their son. They stand up tall as everyone’s attention were on them.

“Your Highness, I came to tell you that we found the prince of Thamali.” Merfoy said removing his white cape, he look at Maru’s direction and signed him to show himself. Maru walk slowly in front of them as the town people were silent wanting to see his face as well as the royalties.

He slowly remove his white cape as the royalties gasped in surprise, they saw his pure shining eyes staring on them. Maru can feel the spark on his body as he can see the connections of him between the royalties. He can’t explain how he feel, an overwhelming feeling of happiness and sadness at the same time as tears came running down his cheeks.

“Maru? My son!” the queen slowly shed tears as she approach him and hold his cheeks.

“It’s you, you are the prince we are longing for,” his mother said as she hugged him tightly. The King approach them and hugged them. Maru never thought that his parents were too old already, they seemed to on their 80’s or 90’s.

“Maru, I’m sorry! I can’t save you back then!” the king said as he bursting into tears. Everyone watch them as the town people cheer with joy, others had tears of joy witnessing them reunite. Niffa look at Rico’s direction, he was happy from what he was seeing but his eyes were longing to see his parents which she also felt. Maru get back from where his friends are standing as they face the crowd behind them.

“I Maru, the prince of Thamali will promise to protect this kingdom forever!” he shouted while raising his sword in fierce as the town people cheer in joyfulness as they shout his name over and over again.

“Maru! Maru! Maru!” they keep on shouting as the three smiled towards him showing such proudness on their faces. They went inside the palace as the royalties invites them to have a cup of tea and to discuss the declaration of war that Seres planned.

“This is Niffa the Queen of Aldon and Rico the King of Samari. They all came here to help us fight the war,” Maru said explaining it to his parents.

“War? A war after we just reunite with our son?” King Devion said in an angry manner as Queen Rui painted a fear on her sad face as she stared on her precious son’s face.

“Maru? I didn’t expect that you looked so young,” the queen uttered.

“Queen Rui, Maru was turned into a sorcerer which makes him age less,” Merfoy explained.

“Age less? You looked so thin and pale as well, are you eating well?” The king asked.

“I’m totally fine, what matters most is that I returned. And protecting the kingdom is my will for now,” Maru answered.

“That’s why we the royalties of the other kingdoms are willing to help Thamali in winning this war,” Niffa said as she hold the queen’s cold hand to make her feel at ease.

“Queen of Aldon, you have the green flame right? You need to contact a violet-eyed sorcerer to stop Seres,” Queen Rui suddenly said as the four was surprise and confuse.

“What do you mean Queen Rui?” Niffa ask with a frown on her face.

“I’m sorry your highness but let me excuse us for a while,” Merfoy said as he bowed down and call for Rico and Niffa outside the room. They left Maru to have communications with his parents. The three of them went outside in the garden.

“Merfoy what does Queen Rui mean a while ago?” Rico asked with confusions on their faces.

“The royalties know about it, that green flame is the perfect combination of a violet flame to create a great light. The great light is the only way to kill Seres in bones and flesh,” Merfoy explained.

“Great light?” Niffa ask as she remembered the forest incident they did as she gasp and look at Rico sweating while his eyes are full of terror staring on his hands.

“And the both of you had it. I suggest the both of you not to use it,” Merfoy said.

“Why? I know it’s dangerous, but if it’s the only way to kill Seres then we will do it,” Rico said in an angry manner.

“You don’t understand, once you produce the great light you will be trapped inside. You can’t see anything but pure white light that stings the eyes and slowly burned you until you turned into ashes. In order to stop the great light, one of you must sacrifice to save the other. The great light actually happened many years ago after the divisions of the five kingdoms, the ancestors of all the royalties becomes the witnesses. Farghan and Mhina compacted their powers to create the great light in order to kill the god-father of all evil sorcerers,” Merfoy said as his eyes were full of grief.

“Who is Mhina?” asked Niffa.

“Our mother and she is a green-eyed sorcerer like the flame you had. She sacrificed herself knowing that father will die soon after he distributed the flames he had. She sacrificed because she doesn’t want father to die first. The great light only happened once that day and I hope it will never happened again,” Merfoy said as the two looked at each other with such confusion and despair on their faces.

“She sacrifice and die first? Will I do the same with Rico?” Niffa ask herself as she look at him.

They get back inside as Maru was confuse why Rico and Niffa were quiet and doesn’t seem so fine. They spent the night in Thamali when suddenly, Merfoy saw from his dream that his evil brother Seres is in the woods with a bunch of evil soldiers and red sorcerers ahead of him coming to set fire on the kingdom of Thamali. He wakes up and called for the three.

“They are coming, we need to prepare now!” Merfoy shouted. The town people gathered around as Maru announce everything, they gathered all the children, women and old ones to enter the castle as they were protected by some of Thamali’s soldiers. Rico snaps his fingers and released a bunch of warriors from his imagination as he assigned them to surround the whole kingdom. Thamalian soldiers are preparing while the others are helping the town people to find a safe place to hide inside the castle.

“Women, children, olders and sick ones can only enter the castle! Men are intend to fight!” shouted the soldier in charge. Then he suddenly saw a lady running towards the tool box and grab a sword.

“Young lady! You need to get back to the castle!” shouted the soldier.

“I want to fight!” she shouted back as she put the scabbard around her.

“You can’t! You don’t have proper training to do that you might die!” the soldier said as he grab the sword from her. Maru, Rico and Niffa saw them arguing on the ground when suddenly Maru gets down and approach them.

“Let her join the army,” Maru said.

“But your highness, the queen told us that women are exempted to fight unless she is a female warrior who had proper trainings,” explained the soldier.

“Let me handle this. Go back to the gate and make sure everyone is safe,” Maru said to the soldier.

“Yes your highness,” the soldier said as he run back to the gate.

“Give me the sword and the scabbard,” Maru said looking at the lady’s brown eyes.

“Your highness, I present myself to help in the war. I volunteer,” she answered without hesitation as Maru can saw how serious she was.

“Fine, take this and make sure you will not die,” Maru said as he handed her his royal sword.

“But your highness, it’s a royal sword I already got mine,” she said giving handing back the sword.

“Here’s a deal, let’s trade our swords and after the war make sure to give it back,” Maru said giving her a serious look.

“Yes your highness,” she said as she blushed in surprise and stared on the sword carved in a royal logo represents a wing of peace. Maru left her on the ground as he step back on the platform.

“What’s the deal with her?” Rico ask.

“Despite that women are exempted to fight, she volunteered,” Maru answered.

“Are you sure you want her to join?” Rico ask.

“It’s my full responsibility if something happened to her,” Maru answered.

“Do not underestimate a woman’s strength,” Niffa said as she gave them a glare.

“Were not underestimating her or you, were just making sure,” Rico said as he look at Niffa’s death glare.

“Yeah, besides she seemed weak,” Maru said as he looked back at the lady tying her hair.

“Wait until she proves she’s not,” Niffa said as she leave the two of them.

“Is she masd at you?” Maru asked Rico.

“I don’t know, but that’s who she is when I underestimate her,” Rico answered remembering her training days with him which makes him smile. The soldiers gathered in front of the gates as they prepared for the battle.

Niffa saw the lady running back towards the tool box as she look for a place to hide then she suddenly approach her.

“Excuse me,” Niffa said from behind.

“Oh! I’m sorry your highness you startled me,” she said as she look around.

“What’s wrong?” Niffa asked.

“I can’t fight with this dress.” She answered.

“Here take this extra clothes of mine.” Niffa handed her the black pants and white shirt.

“Thank you your highness,” she said as she smiled.

“Just call me Niffa and you?”

“I’m Liana and I came from a family of hunters.” They shake their hands.

“See you around Liana. Oh, and by the way show Maru that you are worth than a thousand men in a battle,” Niffa said smiling as she run back to the platform.
