Chapter 13 CHAPTER 13: Instincts
Chapter 13 CHAPTER 13: Instincts
Kae's POV
She shouldn't be there.
I should warn her. But I couldn't even get my freaking legs to work. My eyes were fixed on her the whole time, as I prayed to the goddess that she would do the honors of walking away. Maybe I just forgot how absolutely stubborn she could be. I can't deny the fact that I like it though.
I like the fact that she's more than willing to take just anybody to a challenge. And considering how many people had continued to talk about her this whole time, about how she pushed the vampire senior, slamming him to the locker, I would think she was up to the task..
But at the same time, I was extremely scared for Jasmine. She didn't know exactly what Elizabeth was made of. And there were just there to have fun. I wouldn't even blame them.
I looked back at the crowd, and I genuinely hated everything about it. From the anticipation of the crowd, to the way Elizabeth stood alone in the center. Nothing about it was right.
This wasn't just a fight. It was a test. And every single person standing in the circle knew it.
Jasmine was the first one to step in, looking around, and waiting for students to cheer her. They didn't disappoint.
Elizabeth also took a step forward.
Where were the teachers when you needed them to be there?
Jasmine had anger written all over her. And Elizabeth? She just looked controlled. Neutral. Like she had it all figured out.
That worried me a bit.
One of the students took a step forward. “On the count of three. One… two… three. Begin.”
He took a step back, and Jasmine didn't even waste any time. She was fast. Precise.
She started by landing different blows on Elizabeth.
The first one that Jasmine delivered was enough to make Elizabeth stagger.
But Elizabeth wasn't taking it easy on her as well. She blocked every single blow like it was nothing, barely moving an inch from her initial spot.
All she did was dodge, duck, and block.
If the fight wasn't so intriguing, I would have smirked. But I could barely react. I just wanted it to end. And of course I wanted to know if I was supposed to be giving anybody first aid treatment.
Elizabeth turned in my direction, just in time for me to see something flicker in her eye. I could immediately feel the pressure. It was almost the same one from the last time. The one in front of her dorm.
I could feel my throat slowly start to close up. I tried swallowing, but even that was starting to feel hard. It was almost like there was a pebble in my throat.
I looked up just in time to see Jasmine lunge towards Elizabeth. Her teeth were bare and I could tell that her claws were more than willing to be let loose.
But Elizabeth had nothing less than a determined look on her face. The moment Jasmine was close enough, she finally let go.
She released it all at once. Magic, speed, and mercilessness. It was messy. But somehow, it worked.
I could barely see anything with the dust that covered everywhere. But the one thing I could see was Jasmine being thrown around the circle like she was nothing. Her hair was being flung around, and I could hear her screaming.
The crowd took a step back, erupting. But they weren't even erupting in cheers. It was in shock. And in fear. It was written all over their faces.
I took a step forward, and I immediately stopped myself. What was the use of stepping in now?
That would just mean that I'm choosing a side. And I knew exactly what that was going to cause. I wasn't ready for the drama that was going to come with it either.
If Andy or Lucif were around, maybe it would have made things better. But they weren't even there.
Jasmine continued being tossed around, and not even one person could step in to save her. Not one person that was going to keep her from being practically killed.
Too bad, I wasn't going to be that person.
I could see the little smirk on a few of the spectator's faces. Especially the females. They were enjoying this.
They were reeling in silent victory. Of course, they wanted Jasmine out of her seat. But none of them could actually bring themselves to face her.
And she had finally, finally met her match.
The dust seemed to have settled, and there was no more screaming.
People leaned in to get a closer look, and I couldn't hold myself back from doing the same thing.
I immediately spotted Jasmine on the floor bleeding from practically every inch of her arm. Her nose was bleeding as well, and she clutched to her stomach, folding herself in a fetal position.
Elizabeth was in the corner, with just one scratch on her forearm. The blood dripped slowly down her arm, and she had her eye fixed on Jasmine the whole time.
Like she was going to slam Jasmine right back into the ground if she even made the mistake of getting up again.
The guy that did the counting immediately stepped forward again.
“I believe we have a winner,” he said, before walking over to Elizabeth, and raising one of her hands in the air.
I didn't know if the other people could see it, but the second her hands were dropped, there was a cackle of electricity right around her fingers.
She wasn't normal. And I was right the whole time. She was breathing heavily, but I knew that she was fine. She was just overwhelmed. She was absolutely fine. The triumph on her face said it all.
I couldn't push away the thought that she already knew how this fight was going to end. She was just taking her chances. And now, she had gotten exactly what she wanted.
She looked around, and her eyes stopped right on me. The guilt settled in again.
The school had seen her for what she was. What was going to happen next?
