Chapter 54 Lurking Danger

THE GRAYSON'S RESIDENCE

“I'll let you continue at Rosevale, a good education is very necessary but, you will work for everything you need and to repay me of course."

“But mom..."

Eleanor Grayson lifted a finger, shutting her up.

“You'll move to the maid's quarters and you'll take nothing from your room. You will work for your own food as a maid here, and for your financial needs, a manager at the company needs an assistant, so you have a week to learn how to function in an executive environment as an assistant."

“Why do I have to work? You're my mom." Olivia cried earning a cold laugh from Mrs Grayson.

“I get fifty percent of whatever you earn as repayment for helping ‘your mother ' raise you.

Olivia shuddered. Since her mom returned, she'd made sure to always remind her she's not her daughter, and it hurt. She missed her old mom, she didn't care if she wasn't hers biologically, she just wanted her caring mother back.

“She didn't know how lost in thoughts she was, untill she was pulled by the arms out of the house by Mrs Grayson.

“You don't mean all what you said, do you?" Isabella asked when her mom returned.

“Of course I don't. I just want Olivia to change and be capable enough to fend for herself. She might not be mine biologically, but she's still my daughter."

“I love you mom," Isabella smiled, feeling blessed to have someone so kind-hearted as a mother.

MAID QUARTERS

Olivia approached the quiet maids quarters which was going to be her new home. She stopped and stared at the mansion she was leaving behind, to the little maids quarters.

She'd lived her entire life, looking down on others, and now she was about to become what she despised most—poor.

Her legs felt feeble under the weight of her body, and the dread in her heart increased with every step she took towards the apartment till she found herself at the door of the apartment.

Olivia had never panicked or hesitated to push open any door in her entire life but now she stood, shaking like a leaf in a storm.

She lost count of how long she stood but the door swung open and a dark haired girl smiled at her. Olivia recognized her as the daughter of the head maid.

The girl led her in excitedly. The atmosphere inside the quarters was surprisingly lively. The maids lived like siblings who had known each other for years. They were genuinely happy, even if they had little.

The sound of laughter seized replaced by pitiful stares when they noticed Olivia. And then she was engulfed in a group hug before she could say “jack."

The memories of everything mean thing she'd done to them flooded her thoughts filling her with confusion.

“Why were they so kind to her? Even after all her I'll treatment of them, she wondered.

Rosevale High

It was already dark and quiet but Mr Matthews still sat in his office, lost in thoughts.

Some years back he'd done somethings that could destroy his life, and this person was asking for Akira. Agreeing was dangerous but not agreeing was worse and he couldn't risk that.

Truly, beauty can be a b
urden, and Akira had excess of it, he sighed.
