Chapter 70

Chapter 70

Seeing her like this, a flash of amusement crossed William's eyes.

He picked up his phone and called the factory.

"Send the construction materials over."

William's tone was cold, carrying an unquestionable authority.

"Within two days? No."

Briar blinked. Getting them delivered within two days wasn't impossible.

"Within three hours. I'm already counting the time. If I don't see the materials at the construction site after three hours, we can have another talk about our cooperation."

With that, William hung up without waiting for a response.

In less than half a minute, the issue that had been tormenting Briar was solved with just a couple of sentences from him.

Isabella was slightly stunned, looking at William with surprise.

"They said they can really deliver within three hours? Getting them here within two days should also be possible. If we figure something out and push hard, we should be able to make it work."

The corner of William's lips curved up almost imperceptibly.

"Within three hours, they'll deliver."

Briar's eyes immediately filled with admiration.

"Mr. Wright, you're amazing! I was already thinking this project was going to fail!"

Isabella stared at William's profile in a daze.

He always seemed to appear around her when she was in trouble, quietly solving all her problems without making a fuss.

Just like today.

Facing the schemes of Willie and Martin, Isabella felt exhausted for the first time.

She had already been considering giving up on this project when William showed up just in time.

"Thank you."

Isabella looked at William. He turned his head, and their eyes met for a long moment before he slowly spoke.

His tone carried a light laugh.

"Then you'd better think carefully about how to thank me."

In an instant, a subtle ambiguity hung in the air between Isabella and William.

Briar's eyes flickered, and she tactfully stepped aside, leaving space for Isabella and William.

Isabella's ears turned red as if they could drip blood. Her eyes lowered, her long lashes trembling slightly.

"I'll thank you properly."

After a moment, she said stiffly.

Even this awkward sentence took her a lot of thought to come up with.

"I was just saying. Don't feel too much pressure."

William noticed Isabella's embarrassment and chuckled softly.

The workers around them had already buried themselves in their work. Except for Willie, no one paid attention to this.

Willie's gaze fell on William, his eyes full of fear.

Having dealt with countless people, he had developed the ability to read them. The moment he saw William, he knew William's status was definitely not simple.

He had just witnessed William solve the construction materials issue that had been giving Isabella such a headache with one phone call, and his unease grew.

Would William come after him?

Willie cowered toward a corner, looking like he wanted to hide himself.

But William had already noticed him. Watching his sneaky figure, a cold glint flashed in William's eyes.

"Is this person Willie?"

"For such critical construction materials to disappear for no reason, someone must have tampered with them."

Although William hadn't personally come to the construction site, he had heard about what happened there.

As soon as he heard Martin had been there, he rushed over, worried Martin was causing trouble behind the scenes.

Fortunately, this was something he could solve.

"Yes, that's him."

Isabella said coldly.

"We can't keep someone like this around. Martin must have been behind the materials disappearing, but he's not skilled enough to do things without leaving any trace."

William said softly. He looked in the direction Willie had gone and strode after him with long steps.

"Stop. I need to talk to you."

Willie's body stiffened. He turned around, looking at William with fear.

"Sir, what do you want with me?"

He swallowed hard, stammering.

"If there's nothing else, I should get back to work."

Willie was so panicked that he broke out in a cold sweat, his face full of nervousness.

His appearance was a complete confession. William hadn't said anything yet, but he had written his guilt plainly on his face.

His whole body screamed, "I'm the one who made the materials disappear."

"Come with us. We don't want to discuss these things in front of the workers."

"If you care about saving face, just follow us quietly."

William's face darkened. His thin lips pressed tight, his eyes cold and sharp as a blade.

Even with a hundred reasons not to go, Willie didn't dare refuse. He obediently followed behind William and Isabella to an inconspicuous corner.

"Speak up. Where did you take the construction materials?"

Isabella got straight to the point, asking directly.

Willie's body trembled slightly, showing none of his earlier arrogance.

"Ms. Taylor, what do you mean? I don't understand."

Even at this point, he still wouldn't admit it.

William's eyes narrowed.

"You still won't come clean? There are surveillance cameras at the construction site. Just tell the truth."

His voice was extremely cold, sending chills down one's spine. Willie was so scared by the sinister tone that he shuddered, almost in tears.

"I'll talk, I'll talk!"

"Mr. Collins told me to secretly take the materials out of the construction site. He said if I did this, he'd give me a large sum of money."

"I had no choice. I could only do what he said. The materials... I took them out during the chaos and already burned them."

Thinking about those critical materials worth a large sum of money being burned, Isabella felt a pang of pain.

"How can you prove what you're saying is true? Did Mr. Collins tell you to do this? Without evidence, how can I believe you?"

Isabella spoke slowly, her sharp gaze fixed on Willie.

She needed evidence to prove this, so she could negotiate with Harold.

If Martin was still going to interfere with the project and try to ruin it, she wasn't going to be pushed around.

"What if you had a grudge and secretly burned the materials yourself? And now you're trying to frame Mr. Collins. Do you think I'm stupid?"

Isabella's voice suddenly changed, becoming cold and sharp as a knife, stabbing straight at Willie.

Willie had always been the type to bully the weak and fear the strong. Moreover, with William standing nearby with such an intimidating presence, he was even more panicked, almost ready to kneel and beg for mercy.

"How would I dare? If Mr. Collins hadn't said those things, why would I touch the materials?"

William spoke coldly.

"Then where's your evidence? Show us your proof."

Willie frantically pulled out his phone. He was panicking to death, afraid that if he was a second too slow, William and Isabella would drag him off to his "death."

"Look, look, Ms. Taylor, this is the deposit Mr. Collins sent me, five thousand dollars total. He said after it was done, he'd give me twenty thousand dollars!"

Isabella narrowed her eyes.

Twenty-five thousand dollars was all it took to buy Willie off to do something bad. Martin was quite something.
