Chapter 50

Chapter 50

After that meal, Isabella and William had many more opportunities to talk face-to-face. Perhaps because of William's honest conversation that day, Isabella became more natural when they were together.

"Maybe this part needs a slight adjustment, what do you think?"

The warm yellow light in the conference room fell on William's handsome face. His hair hung over his eyes, which were full of concentration. Isabella sat beside him, her fair fingers touching her ear—an unconscious gesture when she was thinking.

The next second, she picked up her pen and added some small details to the sketch. Though not very noticeable, they somehow made the overall design look more refined and eye-catching.

They sat very close to each other, and when communicating, they would unconsciously look into each other's eyes. Isabella didn't get distracted by their closeness; instead, she became even more focused, carefully listening to William's suggestions.

In contrast, William, sitting beside her, would sometimes lose focus. He'd be talking and then suddenly fall silent. When Isabella noticed something was off and turned to look at him, she found herself staring into his deep eyes.

For some reason, she always felt William's gaze carried an indescribable sense of intensity. Isabella pressed her lips together, pushing the thought aside. Just as she was about to speak, the door behind them was pushed open.

"Ms. Taylor, I'm here to check on the design..."

The person speaking suddenly went silent. Isabella turned her head to see Daphne standing at the door. Seeing Isabella and William sitting so close together, a flash of displeasure crossed Daphne's eyes. Then she forced a smile on her face and walked forward, continuing to speak.

"I'm here to see the design. I just sent you both messages and got no reply from either of you. I had no choice but to show up uninvited."

She laughed as if joking. Before Isabella could say anything, Daphne's hand went straight for the design on the table. A flash of amazement crossed her eyes, but she quickly suppressed it, slightly frowning and putting on a troubled expression.

Seeing this, Isabella felt uneasy. She didn't mind that Daphne had reached past her to grab the design and asked carefully.

"What's wrong? Is there a problem?"

Daphne didn't rush to respond. She walked forward a few steps, almost standing between the two of them, before speaking.

"Nothing major, Ms. Taylor. It's just this part... I think it could be replaced with a different design; it might not photograph as well."

Hearing this, Isabella didn't doubt her and nodded thoughtfully. However, William frowned, a flash of coldness in his eyes.

This part could be considered the essence of this haute couture piece. If it were replaced with a different design, it might not have such a stunning effect.

Moreover, the entire haute couture design was built around this essential part. If this section were changed, the final result would probably be much less impressive.

William saw through Daphne's intentions. He cleared his throat, took the design sketch from Daphne's hands, placed it in front of Isabella, and said.

"I actually think this part of the design doesn't need to be changed."

Isabella's frown deepened. These two people were saying different things—whose advice should she follow?

"Isabella, this part is the essence of the entire haute couture piece. It's better not to change it lightly. Instead, why not modify some other small details? That might also produce better results. What do you think, Ms. Morgan?"

Hearing William's changed way of addressing her, Daphne's smile froze on her face. She looked down and met William's gaze, which carried a scrutinizing look.

Her little schemes to make things difficult for Isabella had long been seen through by William. Although Daphne felt unwilling, she didn't show it anymore. She nodded, her smile becoming increasingly forced.

"Right, let's do as William says. If we change it now and have to think of something else, we probably won't have enough time. The final draft needs to be submitted tomorrow, so keep working hard, Ms. Taylor."

After saying this, Daphne picked up her bag, made up some excuse, and left. She had stayed for less than ten minutes, and her tone and manner were extremely unnatural. Isabella also noticed something slightly off and became more alert.

The previously pleasant atmosphere in the conference room became somewhat heavy. William broke the heavy silence.

"I don't think we need to make too many changes now. Let's use this as the final draft. Get ready to submit it, and after submission, let's see what GE says. If it works out, your haute couture design will be judged by people all over the world."

Isabella smiled a bit sheepishly, gathered her things, and stood up. "Then I'll head back to the Taylor Group. I'll submit the final draft once I'm back at the Taylor Group. Hope we get good news."

Seeing her about to leave, a flash of reluctance crossed William's eyes, and he quickly stood up. "Let me drive you back to the Taylor Group."

Isabella quickly waved her hands in refusal.

"No need, no need. You do your own work. I can get back by myself."

She picked up her bag and walked outside. William followed with his long strides, and they walked side by side.

As soon as William and Isabella appeared, the tired eyes of others in the studio became alert, stealing glances at them until they entered the elevator.

"Is that really Mr. Wright's girlfriend?"

"I'm not so sure about that."

As soon as William and Isabella left, a few people with heavy curiosity and love for gossip gathered together to discuss. The subjects of their gossip, William and Isabella, fell into silence in the elevator, as if cherishing the limited time they could spend together.

Only a few scattered lights were still on in the department office. Isabella, following Daphne's instructions, opened GE's official website and logged in. After confirming that the final design file had no errors, she pressed the submit button.

Seeing the successful submission message on the computer screen, she let out a heavy sigh of relief, her facial expression relaxing somewhat. She leaned back tiredly in her office chair, looking up at the ceiling, letting her mind wander.

As long as GE approved her haute couture design, her design career would surely become smoother and smoother. Her name would be written next to this haute couture piece.

Thinking of this, Isabella sat up straight and looked at the computer screen in front of her. Just as she was about to check everything one more time, she suddenly noticed something unusual.

A login notification suddenly popped up next to her account—very small and fleeting, disappearing in almost the blink of an eye. If she hadn't been staring at the computer screen at that exact moment, she would have missed this information entirely.

Why would someone log into her account?

Isabella frowned slightly, her eyes becoming sharp.

She had already noticed something off when she encountered Daphne during the day, and now her account had suddenly been accessed.
