Chapter 25 Track Her Down
"Mrs. Thomas, you're back." Rosalind approached Emily, bowed respectfully, and smiled, "Mr. Thomas has been waiting for your return. He is worried about your safety."
Emily was instantly bewildered and turned her gaze towards Ethan, looking at him with confusion written all over her face.
She thought. ‘Worried about my safety? Surely not.’
"By the way, Mrs. Thomas, Miss Hines was here earlier causing a scene, begging Mr. Thomas to forgive her. Please don't misunderstand," Rosalind explained.
Emily awkwardly smiled, waved her hand, and said, "It's alright, no misunderstanding..."
She wasn't concerned at all about Ethan being involved with Harper.
She thought, ‘After all, Ethan should be a reasonable person. If anything were to happen, Ethan would likely be a coward!’
"Rosalind." At this moment, Ethan cleared his throat lightly and said coldly, "Let's have dinner."
"Yes, Mr. Thomas." Rosalind obeyed and hurried to the kitchen to serve the dishes.
During dinner, Emily couldn't hold back and asked, "Mr. Thomas, have you hired a caregiver?"
"Not yet," he replied.
"Not yet..." Emily looked worried, biting her lip hard with her chopsticks between her teeth, on the brink of breaking down.
Seeing her distress, Ethan spoke calmly, "Tonight, I'll have Byron come over. You can go rest later.”
Emily looked up, her eyes instantly lighting up with excitement. "Really? There’s nothing for me to worry about anymore?"
"Do you want something to worry about?" Ethan's pitch-black eyes stared straight at her.
Emily widened her eyes and quickly shook her head, "No."
But after denying it, she felt that being so indifferent might be too heartless. She explained in a gentle tone, "Mr. Thomas, I'm just tired today, so I may not have the energy to take care of you properly. When I'm ready, I can take Byron’s place."
Ethan lightly scoffed, seemingly mocking her words.
Feeling embarrassed, Emily shrunk her neck and fell silent.
After dinner, she pushed Ethan back to his room and then returned alone to her own room, heading straight to the bathroom for a bath.
In the room next door, Byron knocked on the door and entered.
"Mr. Ethan, we couldn't find any trace of Mrs. Thomas's whereabouts. We couldn't confirm her activities this afternoon," Byron bowed and reported.
Ethan immediately frowned and coldly questioned, "Are they all useless? They can't even track Emily's movements. What do I need them for? Keep investigating!"
He thought, ‘I simply wanted to know what Emily had done this afternoon, but those useless subordinates couldn't even find out that.’
"Yes!" Byron acknowledged and couldn't help but ask softly, "Mr. Thomas, are you still suspicious of Mrs. Thomas? First of all, we can rule out that she is working for Mr. William, but as for the rest, we really can't be certain..."
"She's not a spy," Ethan blurted out involuntarily.
Byron looked surprised and puzzled, "Mr. Thomas, how can you be sure that Mrs. Thomas isn't a spy? If you don't suspect her, why do you want to track her movements?"
"That's enough, you can leave now," Ethan rubbed his temples, feeling incredibly irritated.
He didn't even know what was wrong with himself.
"Yes, Mr. Bob." Byron dared not ask more questions and immediately retreated.
In the spacious room, Ethan was left alone with his thoughts.
He rose from the wheelchair and under the glare of the light, his elongated figure cast a shadow on the ground.
He leisurely walked into the bathroom, subconsciously heading towards the shower stall, but halted beside the bathtub.
Before his eyes appeared the shy and blushing visage of Emily, and her evasive gaze.
Her hands were delicate. When she helped him undress and when she supported him, she would touch him with those hands. He had never seen hands so pretty.
He had always been ascetic, yet everything that happened last night seemed to unlock something within his body.
Although he was originally intending to test her, now he found himself losing control instead.
Ethan walked under the shower and turned on the cold water tap.

Meanwhile, Emily finished her bath and quietly slipped down to the study downstairs.
The study was large, but she had already searched everywhere that needed searching, leaving only the safe in the corner.
Her only hope lay in that safe.
However, Emily had a headache. It was a top-grade password lock and required considerable effort and time to break it.
But she dared not attempt it now. If she got caught in the act like she did the night before last by Ethan, she wouldn't have any excuses left this time.
She could only wait for when Ethan wasn't home.
She thought, ‘Tomorrow during the day might be the best opportunity.’
Thinking this, Emily chuckled and then stealthily returned to her room.
After returning to her room, she opened a very compact laptop and began checking the villa's surveillance cameras.
Sure enough, there was one in the corridor on the second floor. She would have to disable this surveillance before sneaking into the study. Otherwise, her intrusion would be recorded.
Just as Emily was about to act, there came a sudden knock on the door.
"Who's there?" Emily quickly hid the computer under the covers and cautiously walked towards the door.
"It's me." A man's cold voice rang out.
Emily's heart jumped.
She thought, ‘Why would Ethan be looking for me now? Could he have found out I was in the study?’
She hurried to the door and opened it.
Ethan had damp, tousled hair, with water droplets seemingly about to drip from the ends.
He wore a dark blue satin robe, slightly open at the chest, revealing a sexy muscular physique, exuding an indescribable male charm.
"Mr. Thomas, do you need something from me?" Emily averted her gaze and quickly got to the point.
Appreciating Ethan’s attractiveness wasn't her priority now. Figuring out why Ethan was looking for her was.
"What do you plan to do next?" His dark eyes were half-closed, his tone calm but subtly imposing pressure.
Emily didn't understand. "Mr. Thomas, are you asking if I want to find a job or totally rely on you? Don't worry, I won't spend your money anymore. I only used your money to buy the limited edition dress that was prepared for the banquet. It was indeed expensive, but I didn't spend your money on anything else." She answered seriously.
Ethan frowned, his lips lightly open. “That’s not what I meant…”
Seeing him deny it, Emily became more confused. “Mr. Thomas, do you want me to give the money back to you? I thought you wanted me to spend money after giving the card to me.”
Ethan felt speechless.
Emily continued, “How about this? I will pay you back after I start working. I can write you an IOU.”
Ethan couldn’t stand it anymore, his cold voice carrying a hint of anger. “Do I look like such a stingy person?”
“You do…” Emily nodded after staring at his face for several seconds.
Ethan’s mouth twitched furiously. “Emily Parker!”
