Chapter 21 Her Name is Emily Conner

Seeing Emily come out, the two waitresses who were discussing were dumbfounded.

They avoided eye contact and didn't dare to look directly at Emily.

Emily casually walked to the sink, washed her hands, and ignored them. She walked around them and headed towards the exit.

"Miss!" one of them called out to her.

Emily turned around. The person anxiously explained, "We are really sorry just now. Could you please not tell Mr. Ethan? We were just too curious about your identity, that's why we were discussing it privately. We really didn't mean to offend."

Their faces were filled with worry. Just based on what they said earlier, they could be dismissed from Lakeside View.

"I understand. It's just gossip, right? I didn't take it seriously at all," Emily smirked and said, "You guessed right. I am Mr. Ethan’s caretaker."

Emily thought, ‘Although officially recognized as his legal wife, behind the scenes, I am the nurse who helped him bathe. What else can I be if not a caretaker?’

"Well... thank you, thank you," the two looked at each other and then awkwardly thanked her.

But knowing she was a caretaker, the two had no intention of flattering her. Instead, they felt even more disdain internally.

Emily walked out of the restroom and headed towards the direction of the private room.

At this moment, The manager of Lakeside View hurriedly walked towards the restroom. From afar, she saw Emily's figure and called out anxiously, "Ms. Conner!"

Emily stopped in her tracks. She recognized this voice, it was Sibley Cole, the manager of Lakeside View.

"Ms. Conner, how come you have time to come today? Your favorite fish soup isn't prepared for lunch, it's only available in the evening," Sibley said politely.

Emily turned around, and Sibley happened to arrive in front of her.

"Oh? You are not..." Sibley suddenly felt a bit dazed.

She thought this woman might be their VIP guest, Emily Conner because their figures were almost identical from behind.

But after seeing the woman's face clearly, this thought was dispelled.

Although Emily always wore sunglasses whenever she came here and Sibley had never seen Emily's true face, Emily had a beautiful and attractive complexion, while the woman in front of her had a large red scar on her left face. Obviously, they were not the same person.

"I'm sorry, I mistook you for someone else," Sibley immediately apologized, then asked, "Which private room are you in? Let me escort you."

Emily smiled faintly, waved her hand, and said, "No need, I'll go by myself."

With that, she turned around and walked towards the front.

Sibley stood in place, staring with wide eyes in surprise.

She thought, ‘Can there really be such a similar person in the world? Even her slightly curved lips and her cold and indifferent voice are too similar to Ms. Conner’s!’

"Miss Cole, do you know that woman? She came with Mr. Ethan, she's Mr. Ethan's caretaker," the two service staff approached.

"Mr. Ethan is here too? She's his caretaker?" Sibley was surprised. She was the manager of Lakeside View, so she naturally needed to be familiar with the guests.

"Miss Cole, I heard you call her Ms. Conner just now. Is she really Ms. Conner?" the service staff asked curiously.

Sibley glanced at them and said seriously, "I mistook her for someone else. You haven't been here long enough to meet Ms. Conner. Ms. Conner is a young woman who likes to wear sunglasses. She doesn't even take them off when she eats. She's the VVIP here. If you meet her, remember to keep a proper attitude."

"Yes," the two responded in unison.

"Are Mr. Ethan and the others still in their usual private room? I'll take care of their room. You go attend to other matters," Sibley instructed.

Emily returned to the private room and sat down across from Ethan.

The dishes had not been served yet, leaving only the two of them in the room, and the atmosphere felt somewhat heavy.

"Mr. Thomas, do you need to use the restroom? Should I find a male server to assist you? After all, it's not convenient for me to go to the men's restroom here," Emily asked proactively.

After all, everyone had bodily needs. She had just taken care of hers, but Ethan might be feeling awkward and didn't say anything. However, holding it in wasn't good either, so she decided to ask.

However, Emily's good intentions did not receive a response from Ethan. Instead, his handsome face turned exceptionally gloomy.

It seemed like a flock of crows flew by in front of her eyes, making the atmosphere even more awkward.

At this moment, a knock on the door broke the awkward silence.

The door opened, and Sibley pushed a cart in, speaking courteously, "Welcome, Mr. Thomas, please forgive me for not greeting you earlier. We have specially prepared two servings of pre-meal desserts for you both."

Sibley placed two servings of desserts in front of Ethan and Emily with a curious look. "Miss, I'm really sorry for mistaking you earlier. May I ask how I should address you?"

"You may call me Miss Parker," Emily smiled faintly.

Sibley nodded and said with a smile, "Miss Parker, since this is your first visit. Please give us your feedback on these new desserts of ours."

"Okay," Emily responded.

Sibley then brought out the other dishes and quietly stood by.

Emily glanced at her and guessed that she was waiting for feedback on the desserts. So, she politely took a bite.

It was smooth and tasty, but a bit too sweet with a strong milky flavor. She shared her thoughts with Sibley, who happily said, "Thank you for your feedback, Miss Parker. I will relay this to our pastry chef."

"Overall, it's still very delicious," Emily finished the dessert in just a few bites.

Sibley quickly collected the empty plates onto the cart.

At this moment, Ethan pushed his plate towards Emily. She looked at him in surprise.

"If you like it, you can have this one too," Ethan said in a deep voice.

Emily raised an eyebrow. She had thought Ethan didn't want to talk to her anymore.

"Thank you, Mr. Thomas," Emily accepted with a smile.

Sibley was about to leave, but seeing this scene, she couldn't help but stay.

She thought, ‘According to Sybil Harrett and Erin Read, Miss Parker is currently taking care of Mr. Thomas. But the current situation seems a bit off. Miss Parker likes this dessert, and Mr. Thomas gives her his own portion. Mr. Thomas has never been so considerate to anyone else.’

Sibley knew Ethan quite well since he was a regular customer here.

Emily was hungry and wolfed down the dessert before wiping her mouth satisfiedly.

"Emily, mind your manners," Ethan reminded in a deep voice.

Sibley thought, ‘Emily? So her name is Emily Parker? Not only does she resemble Mrs. Conner in appearance and demeanor, but she also shares her first name.’

Unable to contain herself, Sibley interjected, "Miss Parker, we seem to have a connection. We have a VIP here named Emily, and she looks quite similar to you. Just now in the restroom, I mistook you for that VIP."

Emily pretended to be puzzled, "You mean the 'Mrs. Conner' you called earlier? Is her first name also Emily?"

Sibley nodded immediately, saying, "Exactly, she's our VIP here. We usually call her Ms. Conner. Her first name is Emily."
