Chapter 23 — Saving Marie

The whole school ground was shaking. They heard loud explosions and the Dragons immediately awakened from their slumber. “We are under attack!” they shouted among them.

Marie let out a menacing chuckle when she saw the sudden confusion in her captor’s face. “I bet it’s Steffy Teacher Greg. Do you feel scared now?”

“Shut up, bitch!” interjected Charlotte as she grabbed her hair.

“That’s enough, Charlotte. Let’s go see who that son-of-a-bitch is. And you, lady, should come with me.”

Marie grunted and spat in his face, “You wish!” A sharp slap crossed her face. Immediately, a trail of blood came out from the side of her mouth. “When I get out from here, I’ll make sure I’m the one who will blow up your empty head, Charlotte!” Charlotte only replied with a scoff.

“Come on!” Lucio said as he dragged her with him. Another explosion was heard, then gunshots followed.

“Master Lucio. There’s a crazy lady and an Alpha assassin who are throwing bombs all over the place. It took our men down… let’s get out of here!”

Calmly, the master raised his hand, silencing the man in front of him. “I have this precious girl with me here. Nobody will get harmed as long as our bait is alive. And besides, this is now the perfect time for the Dragons to win the fight against the Alphas! No one is leaving!”

“You’re a horrible person,” Marie retorted, which Lucio ignored. They walked through the cemented hallways of the school, clicking the soles of their shoes as they draw nearer to the gunshots. Then a loud, witch-like laugh filled the air. Tiffany’s voice can be heard as she spoke through a megaphone.

“Lucio Hernandez,” she said in a sing-song manner. “Do you want to play with me? Well then, let’s go. But, release my cute friend first.”

Lucio’s laughter echoed through the hallway. “Steffy, come here and claim your friend while she’s still alive.” Lucio then ordered some of his men to move forward. “No! Steffy, don’t come here!” shouted Marie as she struggled from Lucio’s grasps.

“Shut up, dyke!” said Charlotte as she pointed a gun at her. “Meet me at the school plaza, Teacher Greg, or so I’ll say… Lucio Hernandez.” Everyone who heard Steffy marched towards the designated place. “Oh, little Steffy, don’t do stupid things, my love. Your friend here is with me, you know.”

Steffy chuckled from the megaphone. “You sound so adorable, Teacher Greg. Though I cannot clearly hear your voice from where I stand, I felt so horny. Tell me, did you plan to fuck me only because you already know who I am from the very start? So much for this love story, eh?”

“We enjoyed ourselves, right, Steffy?” The gap between them was getting shorter now as Lucio and his men draw nearer to the plaza. Charlotte felt angry as she listened to their conversation.

“Yes, of course, we did,” Steffy replied with a snort. “And I almost fell in love.”

Steffy could clearly see them now. She was nervously standing across from the Dragons, who were now bracing Marie Joyce as a captive. George was standing in front of her, giving her the protection she needed in case one of them shot her unexpectedly. But then she snickered when she saw Charlotte with the Dragons. She was wearing a cropped top and a miniskirt plus heavy make-up that almost made her look like a stressed copycat of Harley Quin.

“Steffy! Just run away, please!” said Marie Joyce pleadingly.

“Stop being hysterical, Marie Joyce, I will not leave you alone,” Steffy replied. Lucio stepped forward with his hands clapping slowly in the air. “So touching.”

“Hello, Lucio,” Steffy greeted him in a shaky voice. “I believe you have stolen something from me. So, I got something from you as well, Tiffany. The blonde girl whom I encountered in Ormon City.” She smiled to herself then she remembered that night she and Yuan fought against the surprise attack of the Dragons. Then she showed them a golden key that hung as a pendant around her neck. “Oh, right! I stole this when I had a sleepover at your fancy farmhouse.”

“What?” Charlotte shrieked suddenly, “You never invited me to your farmhouse, but you invited her?” Steffy laughed so hard when she saw how Lucio grimly ignored Charlotte behind her. “Now we’re even, Lucio. I’m here now, and I’m going to give you back the key, in exchange for my dear Marie.”

“But senorita—”

“I got this, George.”

The old man nodded. Then he moved closer to her when he saw Lucio approaching them.

“Step aside, Lucio,” said George immediately as he pointed his gun at him.

“Oh, look! It’s you, Mr. Rivera. Or I guess it was just your cover-up! Do you still remember me?” Lucio exclaimed. “My, my… you’ve grown so old. I almost didn’t recognize you when you were in the car.”

“A-and who might you be?” asked George, feeling suddenly confused. “You seemed to know so much about me.”

“Oh, I know little about but you but I remember I was once a little boy when a man killed my mother, father, and brother! And that man was you! Remember how you raped my mom?”

George shook his head in disbelief. “Those were the days… it was fun killing traitors like your father!” With a grim expression, Lucio gripped his gun and aimed it at the man’s head.

“You had your fun, old man. It’s time you go to hell where you truly belong.”

“Don’t even think about it,” Steffy said with danger in her voice. Ignoring her, Lucio expertly hit George in the stomach and made him kneel on the floor. Then he elbowed his back, hitting a delicate part of his body. The old man laid helplessly on the grassy lawn. In just a swift movement of his hand, all guns were already pointing at Steffy while Lucio continued to aim the gun on George’s head. “Steffy, drop the gun or else your loyalist will meet his death… and what’s more? Your best friend too.”

Steffy only cocked her head. “You will not do that.”

“I mean it, Steffy. Drop your gun or both of your friends will die!” Then Lucio fired his gun near George’s side.

“Alright! I will drop the gun, Lucio. See?” slowly put her weapon down on the floor and even emptied the bullets inside them. Lucio gestured his men to hold her up. “Now, let go of George and Marie.”

“Well, I can see that you are a very obedient girl. But I guess...I changed my mind.”

Lucio shot George down and blew his brains with all his bullets.

“Motherfucker!” roared Steffy as she watched her loyal guard fall lifeless on the ground.

“You cannot hide the truth from everyone, Arnulfo.”

Drawing a heavy chuckle, the Don faced Elizabeth, then replied, “Elizabeth, dear. You shouldn’t be spilling such poison inside my office. You barged in just to tell me some stupid musing?”

He then walked towards her and rubbed a finger on her bare arms. “Tiffany will eventually find out, and when that happens, you’re a dead man! Haven’t you heard of what he did to your favorite? She fucking cut his balls and now he’s lying in the hospital bed, throwing a fit because he had just lost his only ticket for the position!”

The Don laughed loudly as he patted his enormous stomach with his hands. “What a waste of time, Elizabeth! Get out, slut! I don’t want to hear anything from you!”

Clenching her fist, Elizabeth slammed his hands on the table, then looked him in the eye. “Our daughter is your heiress. Tiffany will be the next Alpha Don and not that son-of-a-bitch Yuan Lloyd Marquez!” Elizabeth let out a low whimper when the Don tightly grasped her arms. He was fuming with anger now, and the woman snickered at the surge of pain she suddenly felt.

“Listen, slut! We both know that Yuan is also my son, and he may also be the next Don!” Elizabeth let out a laugh, making the Don’s cheeks redden in anger.

“That boy is a product of your infidelity, and you know the Alphas hate infidelity. It’s a sin against the creed of the Alphas, Don Arnulfo, and once the Alphas know about this? I don’t know what will happen to you. Tiffany may not be your wife’s daughter, but they know nothing about that. All they know is that my daughter is a real del Cargador! But if they will also discover that Yuan is a product of your infidelity, my God, I cannot imagine what they will do to you, especially now that you are already an old useless man!”

This time the laughter from Elizabeth had become so hysterical that the Don could swear he had seen her shoulders go up and down. He rushed to her, demanding she would stop laughing like a maniac.

“Lucio will marry his own sister, Tiffany. In that way, no one will know the scheme I plotted together with Yuan’s mother, the politician’s wife. And what’s more? No one realize that Tiffany’s real mother is her own Personal Assistant! Imagine how brilliant I am? Tell me, how does it feel to be with your daughter who doesn’t recognize you as her mother?”

“You’re sick and disgusting!”

Elizabeth cringed her face. “They’re siblings, motherfucker! And what if I only lived as her assistant? It will never change the fact that I love her and I will do anything… literally anything to get her birthright! Because that’s what mothers do.”

“So what? They don’t know that. Just like how blinded everyone is with what you did to my wife!”

“I did not kill my best friend. You made me do it!” replied Elizabeth. A sharp cry came out from Elizabeth’s mouth when the Don’s hand flew through her face.

“Another word from you, Elizabeth, will cause your demise. Get out.” Elizabeth stood up then tiptoed to the door, but then she stopped. “You know what, Don Arnulfo. I love our daughter very much and I’m willing to sacrifice everything to get her in that position!”

“Oh yeah? What can you do about it?”

“This!” It astonished Arnulfo when Elizabeth drew a gun from her bag. “I’m going to kill you, son-of-a-fucking-bitch!”

“Come on, Elizabeth. We both know that you’re weak and you cannot do that!” Elizabeth fired a shot and shot the Don in the leg. “Say that in front of my gun, Don Arnulfo!”

The Don whimpered as he touched his injured leg. “Fuck you, ungrateful slut!” He tried to grab her, but Elizabeth pointed the weapon at his balding head. “Move or I’ll shoot your head.”

“Not so fast, Elizabeth.” The Don made a menacing face when he saw Sebastian entering the door, holding a gun in his hand.

“I guess, victory is still mine,” taunted the Don. Elizabeth felt a pang in her stomach as Sebastian punched her. The Don got another gun, then fired three shots at her already weak body. “Fucking bitch!” he said as he looked at Elizabeth, who was already lying bloody and lifeless on the floor.
