THE BATTLE FOR RORY'S TECH

The black Bentley rolled to a smooth stop in front of Rory’s Tech headquarters, its sleek exterior gleaming under London’s crisp afternoon light.

As soon as the car door opened, her staff, executives, senior managers, and key personnel stood in anticipation outside the grand entrance.

They had been waiting for this moment.

Rory stepped out with the same commanding presence that built this empire.

Dressed in a perfectly tailored black power suit with subtle gold accents, she exuded power, elegance, and control.

The whispers among the employees ceased immediately.

As she walked up the steps, Ms. Lee, her Chief Operating Officer, stepped forward with a respectful nod.

"Welcome back, ma’am."

The rest of the senior team followed.

"Welcome back, Ms. Rory."

There was a sense of relief and admiration in their voices.

She gave them a small nod before walking toward the private elevator. “Let’s go to my office. Bring me up to speed.”

She kept walking, her stilettos clicking with authority against the polished marble floor.

The moment she stepped into the towering glass building, it felt like she had never left.

The building stood tall, its sleek glass façade reflecting the city, but the people within it, the employees who had built their careers under her leadership were what mattered most.

She had been gone for five years, but she had built this empire from the ground up and today, she was taking her throne back.

Rory’s penthouse-level office was just as she remembered, modern, sleek, and utterly powerful.

The expansive glass windows framed the London skyline, her polished oak desk stood like a throne at the centre, and the room smelled faintly of leather and fresh paper.

She settled into her chair, crossing her legs, her sharp gaze on Ms. Lee.

"I assume you didn’t just call me back for a social visit."

Ms. Lee placed a detailed file on the desk. "No, ma’am, we have a problem." Lee and Rory have worked together over the years and have built a very cordial relationship. They were good friends, but when they were in a work setting, Lee knew how to keep it very professional, and that’s something Rory loved about her.

Rory flipped open the file, her eyes scanning the contents with practised efficiency.

Then she stilled.

Titan Dynamics.

She let the name settle on her tongue for a moment before looking up. "Explain to me, what is that? How did this happen, Lee, how did you let this happen in my absence?"

Ms. Lee’s voice was crisp. "They’ve launched a product eerily similar to our upcoming release months ahead of schedule. And I believe strongly that it’s not a coincidence."

Rory’s eyes narrowed. "Who gave them access to our product blueprint?"

Ms. Lee’s hesitation was brief. "We suspect an internal leak, but we haven’t identified the culprit yet."

Rory’s eyes darkened. "You think someone leaked it?"

Ms. Lee nodded. "We’re conducting a security audit. But they knew too much, too soon. This wasn’t a lucky guess. It was an inside job."

Rory leaned back in her chair, tapping a single nail against the desk.

Titan Dynamics wasn’t just another competitor.

They were coming for her throne.

And she had zero tolerance for betrayal.

She flipped through the financials. Sales were steady, but customer engagement was shifting.

“How are sales coming up?” She asked.

Ms. Lee shifted. "They’re stable, but customer interest is shifting. Titan’s marketing is aggressive, they’re drawing a lot of attention."

Titan was aggressive, bold, and loud, exactly the kind of company that could chip away at her empire if left unchecked.

And Rory didn’t lose battles.

She looked back at Ms. Lee. "Who had access to the product development files?"

"A very short list," Ms. Lee said immediately. "Myself, Lucas Carter from R&D, a few senior developers, and select board members."

Rory’s voice was cold. "Then we have to narrow it down. Call a full executive meeting in thirty minutes."

"Understood." Ms. Lee turned and walked out.

Rory let out a slow breath.

This was war.

The conference room was silent when Rory walked in.

Everyone was already seated, their backs straight, their gazes sharp.

This wasn’t just any meeting, this was a crisis meeting.

Rory took her place at the head of the table, her presence commanding.

She set the Titan Dynamics report down with a sharp flick of her wrist. "Let’s get straight to the point."

Lucas Carter, Head of R&D, cleared his throat. "Titan’s release timeline shouldn’t have been possible. Their technology is too close to ours."

"Which means someone in this room handed them our work," Rory said flatly.

The weight of her words settled like lead in the room.

A flicker of unease passed through a few faces.

"I want names," Rory continued. "How much has been compromised?"

Ms. Lee spoke first. "We’re still assessing, but it looks like they had access to at least the core framework of our upcoming AI model."

A muscle in Rory’s jaw tightened. "And the security breach?"

"We’re running a full trace," Lucas said. "If anything was sent externally, we’ll find out soon."

Rory’s eyes cut to him sharply. "Soon is not an option."

He swallowed. "I’ll fast-track it, ma’am."

She turned to Graham Sterling, Head of Finance. "Public perception?"

"Titan is gaining momentum," he admitted. "They’re loud, flashy. Investors are… uneasy."

Rory leaned forward. "Then calm them down."

She let her words sink in before adding, "Rory’s Tech isn’t some small startup they can bully. We don’t panic. We don’t retreat. We fight."

The confidence in her voice shifted the atmosphere.

Everyone straightened slightly and refocused.

"I want a full competitor analysis on my desk by morning," she commanded. "We’re going on the offensive."

"Understood, ma’am," came the unanimous reply.

She stood. "Meeting adjourned."

As she walked out, she knew one thing for certain.

Whoever had betrayed her was about to regret it.

By the time Rory returned to her office, her mind was already three steps ahead.

She dialled a private number.

A crisp, deep voice answered. "Ms. Rory. I was expecting your call."

"Find the mole," Rory said coolly. "And when you do, make sure they never work in this industry again."

There was a brief pause, and then the person on the other line responded. "Understood."

She ended the call and stared out at the London skyline.

Titan thought they could undermine her.

Someone in her company thought they could betray her.

They were about to learn just how merciless Rory could be.

Rory stood at the glass wall, looking down at London below.

Her mind was racing. Someone in her company, someone close had betrayed her.

Titan Dynamics wasn’t just a competitor, they were making deliberate, calculated moves to destroy her.

And they had help from the inside.

Victor’s voice pulled her from her thoughts. “I know that look.”

She turned to see him standing in the doorway, arms crossed, watching her.

She softened slightly. “What look?”

“The one that says you’re about to tear someone apart.”

Rory let out a humourless chuckle. “Someone deserves it.”

Victor stepped closer, his hands resting on her shoulders. “You’ll handle this just fine baby, don’t get too worked up..”

She wanted to believe him.

But something told her this fight was different.

Rory spent the next few hours in back-to-back meetings, demanding reports, digging through confidential files, and putting pressure on her executive team.

She needed a name.

By the afternoon, Ms. Lee stormed into her office, looking furious.

“We found him,” she spat.

Rory straightened. “Who?”

Ms. Lee handed her a file. “Lucas Carter.”

The room fell silent.

Rory’s pulse spiked. “Are you sure?”

Ms. Lee nodded. “Very sure ma; here are evidence, bank records, and off-the-books meetings with Titan Dynamics execs. He’s been selling us out for months.”

Betrayal curdled in Rory’s stomach.

Lucas had been with Rory’s Tech from the beginning.

And now he was the snake in her garden.

Her jaw clenched. “Where is he now?”

Ms. Lee hesitated. “Still in the building. What do you want to do?”

Rory’s lips curled into a dangerous smile.

“Bring him to me.”

Lucas sat across from Rory in her private office, his face pale but defiant.

“Ms Rory, this is a misunderstanding—”

“Cut the bullshit.”

She slammed the file onto the desk. On it were bank statements, confidential emails, and all the evidence gathered.

Lucas swallowed hard. “I—I had no choice.”

“No choice?” Rory laughed coldly. “You had a choice. You just chose the wrong side.”

He shifted uncomfortably. “Titan made an offer I couldn’t refuse.”

Rory leaned in. “You should have.”

Lucas opened his mouth, but she raised a hand. “You’re fired, the security will escort you out. And if I ever hear your name again, I promise you—you’ll regret it.”

He stood, his face burning with humiliation. “You can’t win this, Rory. Titan is too powerful.”

She smiled. “Watch me.”

Security dragged him out, and just like that, the traitor was gone.

But Rory knew this wasn’t over.

Titan Dynamics wouldn’t stop.

And her enemies were still watching.
